Starr uses the bananas and makes good power.. Ive attacked my manifold with the die grinder enlarging the ports and rounding the corners- did the same in the neck along with a larger throttle body. Something about built(customed) not bought goes well with me!

I nearly bought the hsv decals for this cover but mine aint a 220i ( mine is 215i) plus its better to be semi original.. Saw a carbon one on an old Aussie site- now that would be cool

Same colour as the body mate- the bananas are the same grey as the hsv inserts. Should look similar to what is already is

Well my covers mustve been cast by a blind person at the foundry - full of pits, extra alloy that shouldve been removed and sharp edges.. After some time with the grinder, Ive managed to clean up all the edges and cut back the sides for a custom fit. As you can see, Ive bogged over the words...

I thought about polishing it BUT.. the problem I have with my polished overflow tank, strut bar etc - everytime I touch it or it gets dirty or wet (water stained), it looks like shite! I dont think I have the patience to maintain the lustre of such a big piece on display.. Also Im gonna bog...

So Ive got me a VT 304 Alloy engine cover set and managed to even track down the throttle cable bracket as I heard thats needed to mount the front cover.. Next is to get it sandblasted.. I will prime and paint it at home.. fingers crossed I dont f@*K it up as it cost me a pretty penny..

Haha the roof is painted- Its just the reflection of the sky- you can see that my spoiler looks the same.. plus it has a sunroof which might add to the unpainted look? Also with the scoop- Ive cut a hole in the bonnet and meshed it for heat release.. Im not a fan of exposed vents letting in...

Yep the search begins for an alloy VT style engine cover... Might look into getting it alloy welded to make it one piece.

    My HSV Senator 215i

Was thinking about the alloy option but I hate it being 3 piece plus I heard the cover over the throttle body doesnt line up properly?? Main reason is im not trying to make it look like a VT motor but rather more custom.. and I cant find any here in NZ let alone any for a decent price on Ebay!

So the next mission was to replace the alternator... Was going to recon mine but it looked rubbish- so I bought a new genuine unit and a billet fan and pulley to give it a better look... Its so clean and shiny, seems a shame to put it to use haha

Thanks mate! So the new mission was to rewire the Knock sensor as the plug was totally missing. - Check. Tried to get the knock sensor off but it was seized and the hex part was spinning inside the housing.. after a few hours of swearing.. I admitted defeat and called a mobile mechanic to do it...

Took the car out yesterday to get it all legal - passed no problems but then on my way back to work- Speedo stopped which means no Odometer and associated fuel useage info. Im hoping its the vss on the T5. Anyone have details on how to replace it or whatever else it could be?

Thought I would redo my boot trim piece as the bolts were rusty and the paint was crappy. Bought a replacement trim from the wreckers, painted it then got me a genuine Senator decal to finish it off.

The VR's come out with steering wheel airbags. My mates VR Clubby has an airbag wheel that he wants removed and Ive seen those non airbag HSV wheels on a VP Clubsport and Senator as standard. Ebay had one but man it was expensive so will play the waiting game!

    VS Senator 5.7L man

Ive got a 215 Senator also..Was looking at the same steup as yours cause it looks cool! Hows ya pedal feel? Normally when you up the caliper size, you need a larger master cylinder and I notice the 215's have a 15/16 master with ABS as opposed to the 1" or bigger on other models. Just to get a...

How did ya get the rear brakes to fit? I was going to buy a set but have been told it wouldve need custom brackets to be made and that means it would need to be certed to be roadworthy- so opted to leave my std brakes on.

Finally got round to getting my front spoiler painted as it was pretty rough from bottoming out on my driveway and stonechips. While I was at it- I bought new indicators to freshen the front up.. Thought I would put some new mesh in while it was out Now to get it back on and give it a buff..

I used my gas soldering torch but you can use a lighter if you are careful. Just melt the squashed pin ends and cut away with sidecutters.

Man these short shifters are SHORT! Gonna take me awhile to get used to the short throw between gears. Im letting out the clutch slowly as it feels like the lever aint all the way into first gear but it is... The original lever was the total opposite- Used to smash my knuckles on the headunit...

I made the original one from my auto console which is the leather type- it only works for the T56 manuals. I changed my mind and went for a T5 as im not keen on 6 gears so i had the std plastic manual console carbon overlayed then clear coated.
