    VE brakes

Hi, I’ve got a 2008 VE v6 omega sportswagon. when I apply the breakers there is a small variation in the breaking force as the car comes to a stop. I replaced the disks and pads but it was back in a few days. There is no pulsing in the break pedal, and no shudder in the steering, you just feel...

    Ve O2 sensor error

Hi, At about 170,000km My 2008 VE started to get an 02 sensor errors every 3-4 days. I took it to a local mechanic who tested them and indicated that 2 of the 4 sensors needed replacement. They did the repair and replaced all 4 sensors, I payed about $150 per sensor (they are a long standing...

    Roof racks flying off....anyone

I have proracs on my 2008 sportswagon. Have travelled thousands of kms round aust with a roof pod. The locking tabs that are on the roof rack fitting are a each a couple of cm long (from memory). Mind you, you do need to be careful to make sure they slide into the roof rail as far as possible...

    VE Wagon Towbar Instructions?

Does anyone have a copy of Holden's instructions for fitting a genuine 1600 kg bar to a 2008 sportswagon? I'm installing a second hand one and it does not match the above - eg: no option for a third bolt.

    9 wires in trailer harness

Thanks rambunctious, much appreciated. It explains a couple of things about the trailer wiring harness. This trailer wiring hasn't got the better of me yet!

    9 wires in trailer harness

Hi, At the risk of asking a silly question, I'm installing a trailer harness in my Ve 2008 omega. It's second hand from the dismantlers. The plug looks like a standard flat 7 pin, but has two extra wires (one grey and one white) going to it. They screw in outside the standard seven, so on...

    Steel cased bushes?

Thanks Ephect, I'd read about the rubber versus plastic type but had not worked out what it all meant! Cheers,

    Steel cased bushes?

I've been looking online at the options for front inner control arm bushes. Some brands seem to be steel cased and others not. The ones that are not steel cased would be heaps easier to fit, is there a good reason to go the harder route and fit the steel cased ones?

What next? What would you tackle?

Check the brakes too, I've seen stiff caliper pistons keeping the brakes engaged a little on a vs increasing fuel use.

vr running fine now wont start

The v6 has a cas, also the coil packs go. Lots of threads on these - and you should be getting error codes if it is one of these problems.

    Torque wrench advice

[ I've had a kincrome me for a few years now, but used a more expensive clicking pin one prior to that. The kinchrome one is good for occasional use, which is all I need it for. Setting the torque with the twisty handle is the annoying part-ok once or twice on a DIY job but you may find it...

what did you do to your car today?

VR - I drilled holes and put bolts through the mounts for the boot struts where the spot welds were coming apart. I can now open the boot fully!

    Vr heater fuses melted

This happened to me some years ago, the fuse heated up melting the fuse and the socket but not blowing. Not sure what caused it but my best guess Is that it was caused by a piece of paper falling out the back of the glove box and jamming the fan. Never happened again in the 6 years since.

    Change of direction for Holden

Commodores appeal to different buyers to fiats and alphas. If Holden produced a small car like that in Australia people would still buy the fiat if they could because its European and city-flash. The small Holden would compete with Kia and so forth. Small cars are of no use to me due to the...

    Ethanol Blend E10 fuel?

I'm not sure that all older holders run E10 well. My 1993 VR V6 seems to have difficulty with hot re-restarts only when I use E10. Took months to spot the pattern, and still difficult to prove definitively unless I spend a lot of $ on a full refuel with the stuff and put up with 2 weeks of...

    American Gun Gontrol

You may be able to buy guns illegally, most of us can't. I would not have a clue where to get one and don't want to know. So the law does stop me and most of the population from getting one. If I am angry at you I only have my fists, the cops or the courts to help me, if they can. I can swear...

    ABS fault light on

Hi Pete, On the front wheels the sensors are part of the hub itself. The wiring from the hubs goes past the strut mountings in the engine bay and there are white connectors there where you should be able to take some readings with a multimeter. For example, if it is an open circuit it would...

    ABS fault light on

Yes, you can easily test the relay. Do a web search and you'll get the details. My hunch is that its not the relay, but worth checking anyway. I think you mentioned that you had checked the fusible link and fuse 22 (which is under the bonnet) already. Some of the wiring is common with the oil...

    ABS fault light on

It is working! The connector had backed off one of the terminals of the 'ABS over voltage protection relay'. Must have happenned when I moved the wires around to do the repair. Pushed it back into the connector and all was fixed.

    ABS fault light on

Hi, I've got a series 1 VR Exec. They didn't come standard with ABS, I think it was fitted as a factory or dealer option. A little while ago the fuse (#9) for the Heater A/C Cont. overheated. Instead of blowing it melted and the terminals moved together to stay conductive. The socket also...

VR Deadlock issue Urgent help needed.

Hi, some years ago I had someone try to break into the VR and destroy the drivers side lock - it was deadlocked and as you know you can't then use the lock on the passengers side. The good news was the NRMA got the back left door open in about 20 seconds, even thought it was deadlocked...

    Service Costs VE

I recently paid $about 298 for the 30,000km service of my 08 VE sportswagon at the local dealership. Simple service, no extras required.

    What oil do you use?

I always use penrite, sin 0 in the VE, HPR15 in the VR. Been using only penrite in my cars for about 15 years. Was a valvoline fan prior to that with the Torana!

    Squeaking/Whining Steering Wheel

    Balance shaft

Yep, they are pretty straighforward. When I changed mine I found the clunk actually came from the sway bar mount bushes which needed to be changed too...so look there next if it ain't fixed.
