I second it being the resistor, what I did with mine is replaced all the coils with ceramic resistors from jaycar, about 5 bucks in parts and I doubt the thing will ever fail.

Ari, what about running a wire from the brake switch to a relay with a diode on it (incase of any feedback), then from the relay to the brake lights. Run new wires for the indicators also. Basically creating all new wiring for the tail lights but leaving the factory wiring untouched?

start buying looms and strip em lol... that is a really good question, I have seen the stuff advertised in the UK, well very similar on an autosparky supply shop. But saying that there has to be somewhere in AUS that supplies the stuff, are the looms even made in AUS these days??

The main problem here is, when the fan is set to max, it isnt using any of the resistors, its getting straight power. So in short no... changing the resistor won't do a thing.

If your any good with electronics I can shoot you a circuit I made to do exactly that. Re the relay, I looked for ages and couldn't find one for anything that even resembled a decent price.

Have done it man and is an absolute nightmare.. Reckon it took me close to 70hrs to get it all working. Best piece of advice I can give you is take all the loom tape off from the firewall back and do one thing at a time (ie lights, get em all working then move onto the next part)

You also need the board behind the gauges, then it'll plug right in and work. 3 pins are +,- and signal.

you can get led replacement globes for 240vac and 12vdc down light's from the likes of jaycar etc, hardley worth the effort of making a led globe for your 12v down lights.

Late model vl ones are black, that's what I used on my wagon

And yes vh and VK are physically the same, just different colour lenses

Take the whole headlight assembly out, you should be able to see how it attaches once it's out. Whole lot is held in by the two bolts on the rad support above the headlight

Yep thats it. Basically a diode is a one way valve for current, can go out to the dome light, but not back into the door light, if that makes sense.

Easier solution, just go get some diodes and wire them in the back of the switches to main loom and have the individual lights -ve going to the switch
