Buying unregistered interstate, am I missing anything?

This is the advantage of buying from a dealer. All of the above is guaranteed, by law a motor dealer must provide clear title. But there is a loophole when buying an unregistered vehicle, which the dealer could later argue was sold for parts. I'd think ACT dealers would make the journey over...

How much would you expect from dealers etc? VF SSV Redline

A few things to consider... Firstly, those 40k-60k prices on Car Sales are probably way over-inflated. Some people are clinging desperately to the COVID stupidity, but in reality, we're seeing prices starting to fall across most of the markets. Problem is, anyone looking to sell their car sees...

[VIC] Lang Lang still up for sale

It would be awesome for some rich benefactor to buy it and rent it out for club events, track days, etc., similar to how race circuits are. Probably wouldn't be financially viable, but I'd happily pay to spend a day there!

    Car Tracking and Theft

Can't remember the brand of mine either but in my (M21 manual) VH, I have a bright yellow thing with a tube at one end, which slides over the handbrake, and a pivoting lever on the other end that wraps around the gear stick and locks back onto itself. Prevents releasing the handbrake and locks...

    VH commodore statesman

Assuming it is actually 11QT72xxxx (with four numbers represented by x's) then it should be an early 1976 block, likely from a late-HJ Statesman, which should make it a Chev bolt pattern (TH400) block. If you give us the cast date off the front of the block (between the inlet manifold and the...

If the ECU is commanding that Inj DC then it must be trying to correct a huge lean-out? So it's gotta be either fuel supply, or an injector issue, or an O² sensor?

I'm guessing it has something to do with the 293% injector duty cycle? (I wouldn't have thought that was possible?)

    Guess The Movie Screenshot

Maybe you should start a new thread for all these guessing games? I realise it was you who started this thread but the above has very little to do with Plex.

    Guess The Movie Screenshot

I used to have genre folders like that, but I found it too hard to categorize a lot of titles. You don't really need to do that anyway, Plex allows genre tags per title and if you want to see only action movies then it's only two clicks to select that filter.

    Guess The Movie Screenshot

Not so much, I try to keep it relatively 'family friendly' so I don't have to worry about segregating files so the kids don't run across anything too inappropriate. It's all mainstream releases anyway. I don't trust Plex enough to put anything on there that couldn't be made public. I'm so...

    Guess The Movie Screenshot

I started-out digitizing my optical media library with an 8TB WD NAS, and I thought "I'll never fill that up". Then, once that was full, I bought a Synology 4-bay NAS and loaded it with 16TB drives (the largest drive on the compatibility list), and I thought "I'll never fill that up". Then...

VH SS Dash Cluster - Dot Switch

Nah, I reckon the "dot" is way too perfect to be a drop of glue. I'm going with your first guess, I think it's a GMP&A accessory (possibly even aftermarket), likely a spotlight / foglight switch? I'd have to rummage through all my boxes but I think I recall seeing one of those somewhere...

    VX Clubsport insurance

At any other time it'd be normal for a car to de-value, so them lowering the market value would be common practice, even with a so-called "agreed value" policy (read the fine print). It's just that since covid-tax came about and people started paying drug-money for things, the "replacement...

I have a 3kVA (2700w) APC rackmount UPS that powers everything I have computer-wise, including the NAS, the router/WiFi AP, and the PoE switch (which in turn powers the cameras), as well as my 3D printers (blackouts really suck when you're almost at the end of a print). Home Security Cameras

Unfortunately that's one thing I can't do. Living in a rural area means crappy internet upload speeds as there's no NBN node anywhere near here (and not likely to be one any time soon). I am looking at one of these Starlink low-orbit satellite setups but a) the monthly subscriptions are...

Yeah, sorry to say but in my opinion RING products are simply unusable. They have their devices all locked-down so you can't use them with anyone else's NVRs, and you can't add anyone else's devices to their system. Plus, as mentioned, you are not only forced to pay them a subscription fee to...

    Home Security Cameras

Yeah, generally speaking, outdoor/underground cable is gel filled and has a UV resistant black outer sheath, but I'd never run a cable underground without puting it in conduit anyway (white conduit for telecoms & data, orange for power).

I guess it depends on how "different" the directions are? The better WiFi bridges are pretty directional, more of a point-to-point deal. You could just put an exterior WiFi whip antenna up on your roof, but you'd be broadcasting your LAN to everyone in the neighbourhood at the same time.

    Home Security Cameras

I am trying to hard-wire everything just for the sake of reliability, not that I'm saying WiFi is unreliable, although less secure maybe. Once you have a WiFi AP anywhere on your LAN it opens up security holes anyway (but that's a topic for another day). One of my 200m runs is just for a single...

I'm just exploring options now for running fibre optic links to remote APs as I'm looking at distances of up around 200m, which is more than I'd be comfortable with using copper. Unfortunately, I'm finding that you leave the mainstream 'home user' market when you start playing with fibre...

Yeah, but have you looked at your third-party liability insurance cover if your dog bites some little oxygen thief while they're in the commission of B&Eing your property? It makes little difference anyway as dogs are easily baited and then you're completely defenceless, and even worse, clueless...

On that note, you said the engine won't be run for another six months so is it worth removing the rocker gear again so you don't weaken a couple of valve springs? Or are you committed to turning it over by hand every week or so? I saw a dyno video recently where an engine that was built and...

    Vh compliance plate drama

I know my VH BT1's stamping is up on the strut tower but it's fairly late in the model run, I can't remember off-hand where my VH SL/E's chassis number is (I think it may be up there as well but I'd have to confirm).
  33. B

    Vh compliance plate drama

Since when does the radiator support on a VH Commodore "bolt on"? The stamped chassis number is the "Legal Identifier", the compliance plate should never be used to identify a vehicle. Its sole purpose is to certify that the vehicle complies with the Australian Design Rules applicable at the...

    Vh compliance plate drama

Should be reasonably easy then. Just book-in for a blue slip inspection at an authorised inspection station (local mechanic, etc.) and they should do all the paperwork for you (most inspection stations sell CTP Green Slips as well, but you can shop around for the cheapest online if you want)...
  35. B

    Vh compliance plate drama

Do you have the old VIC rego papers? If you can prove it was once registered somewhere in Australia (IOW, that it did at some stage comply with ADRs), then you don't need a compliance plate. And if the chassis number is intact then you shouldn't need to go to the cops, RMS will do all the...

    Riddle

This is a good example of a joke that doesn't really work when you type it out, because you can't substitute the word "for" with "four" like you can when it's spoken. I believe Mormons are also allow multiple wives in other countries, but I don't think either are legally recognised here?

    Have VK 308 motor

Yep, you will need to confirm that stamping as the prefix doesn't line up with the sequential number. If the "VN" prefix is correct it should be an "LB9" RPO 304ci 195kw roller block from a late VS or early VT HSV (comparatively rare). If the "450611" serial number is correct, then that lines...
