I wouldn't panic, my VS does it to, if you get out of the car and lissen the Thermo fan doesn't come on till it reaches that temp (about 3/4 on the gauge) so obviously holden has designed the car to be able to heat up to this temp.
If you are however worryed, simply drive with the aircon on...
this undercover cop car thing, I wonder how many are attually undercover cop cars, and how many are cops driving to/from work in their own car, just a thought...
a friend of mine had the same problem as you in a mazda 323, problem turned out to be the wrong globe in one of his tail/brake light sockets.
He had a 1 prong globe instead of the 2 prong globe he was ment to have... check your globes...
....
your special, how do you know you were doing 280? speedo only goes upto 200km, not to mention that even in overdrive you'd would have passed the rev limiter so its impossable to reach 280 in a vl...
I sence a flame war comming :D
:rice: :rice:
maybe we should vote?
like garth & darren come up with a shortlist and we vote, using the fourm polling system. nice and demicratic :yeah:
just a thought
ok, so its ment to be like that, was just thinking there was more than one fan, like a fan for each section (passenger side, middle, drivers side, rear) guess not :hit:
ok thanks guys
Just a quick question, is the air speed out of the center two air vents faster than the side & rear ones?
Because, its like a hurican comming out of the middle two, but it hardly noticeable on the four side ones and two back ones, even on max fan speed.
Is this normal or do i have dud fans...
I'd be changing every 5,000km, especialy on a S/c engine, but any engine as a rule of thump, the oil is only really good for 5,000km.
Is really holden suggesting that oil changing is only needed every 15,000km?
oh fair enough, thought i read in a street commodores mag when they reviewed the ss wagon - could have sworn they were bitching because they didn't come in a manual :hit:
my bad :b:
I've been told that you should service it every 20,000km or 1 year, which ever comes first, at the very lest you should change the oil and filter at those intervals, would you drive your engine for 70,000km and not replace the oil... :whistling
also, just to really burst your bubble, SS wagons come only in Auto, you can't buy a holden wagon with a manual, not vx onwards anways, so if you want a manual wagon, you'll have to do a tranie coversion - ss, berlina or exec  :b:
Fe2 suspension, which is lower than normal suspension as standerd.
Body kit,
bigger front brakes, they usally get the v8 braking package.
Factory Mags - think they were 16"
Thats about all i can think of, they had the same options as the rest of the commies, power windows, air bags, abs...
Dunno, maybe 100 is a speed reference number, so if you change your diff ratio or get bigger/smaller wheels you can change this number and still have the right speed shown on your speedo
Thats just a theroy of mine, not sure myself.. :w00t:
I'm liking "eminem - toy soldiers" at the mo, which is a worry since i normaly hate eminem
Metalica and Ministry of Sound ussally score well too :king:
Hay guys, found this on street commodores forum.
Anywho, you do this:
It stops the that little red LED from flashing, and puts the Digital speed alert on full time, even when you turn the car off! Only way to set it back to normal speed alert it to disconnect the battery apparently...
Injected cars (eg.. a vs) don't have chokes, instead the computer injectes more fuel than normal on cold starts untill its running at the normal temp, same principle of a choke.
so running with you theroy instead of the choke, its possable that senser that tells the computer the car is cold...
its got a 3spd trimatic, with 3rd being 1:1
diff gear is 3.08 (assumming no one has changed it)
It was the first and last unleaded carbie V8 holden made.
With a few mods (raise compression, port & polish, possably a holley or just recondistion your quad jet etc...) it does be come a...
when you lock the door with you key do turn it to dead locks? i'm assumming a VR has them, vs's do
On dead locks the C/L doesn't work - maybe thats your problem?
Well if your trans is slipping between gear changes its gone past a serice - your now into rebuild country
Same thing happend on mine, it was slipping when changing from 2nd > 3rd and 3rd > OD. The problem comes about when you drive it around with the power button off also the fact...
Gets my vote ;)
seriously though, why would you wanna do line locking??? don't you like your diff/trans??? lol
But! If you wanna do them, just put the brakes on, rev to 2000rpm, then ease of the brakes at the same time of accelrating harder, you'll reach a point where the rear wheels...
