Sport Wagon series 1 Tail light lamp holder faulty

The white coloured reverse lamp holders in the original loom are perished, the actual tail light housings are fine. I have had the car since new so it has never had so much as a lamp changed. I have a bought a new LED Stop / Tail light set up but I need to plug the old lamp holder in for reverse...

Sport Wagon series 1 Tail light lamp holder faulty

Hey its been a while since I've been here. I decided to change my Series 1 VF Sportwagon tail lights to LED and to check why my reverse lights were playing up. It seems that the white plastic lamp holders on both sides have perished (the reverse lamps). The driver's side badly enough that the...

    Cross 8 SS?

I had a look through the previous replies to your post. No one has mentioned that a Cross 8 has basically the same trim as an SS (but doesn't have the SS logos). It is fairly easy to have someone who is not aware think that it is an SS because it basically is, and any of the trims that don't...

worst holden sales in 70 years

In 1948 Holden sales would only refer to the "Holden" car as a model, GM-H built / assembled quite a few other car lines at that time too so the overall sales for GM in Australia at the time would probably have been a bit higher. (Vauxhaul/Chev/Pontiac/ and a few others would need to be included).

    More Proof Holden Hates Commodore

If you are using E85 and getting that sort of economy you should try the car on on 98 Unleaded, the AFM is great using 98 gives me cheaper motoring than using 91 or E85, I actually save a couple of dollars a tank compared to running 91. E85 is great in the bush but still uses a lot more than 98.

    Brembo Calipers bolts? FRONT

The service manual says you need to replace the bolts if you remove the caliper, they are the single use torque then turn by x degrees so that seems right. The factory bolts also include a band of adhesive bolt locking compound.

    Cabin air filter

Make sure you check the drain (the circular black rubber thing in your picture). Its small rubber valve to drain water, mine had stuff growing in it, easy for it to block up as it traps leaves and other crap. I had to pull it out (pretty easy) and scrub the slime off it when I fitted a pollen...

Will you ever buy another Holden?

I don't like SUV's and neither does my wife, I like large wagons with plenty of go. Holden has been it for a while, but it took 20 years for them to build something that convinced me to give up on my V8 HZ wagon, since then I've had VT, VX, VE1, VE 2, and two VF wagons. The Sportwagon was a...

    VF 1 Recall??

Had my July 14 redline wagon serviced last week, I had not received any recall but the invoice does mention the wiring loom recall was carried out.

VF Series 2 Brembo brake issues

Mines a series 1 Redline, the biggest issue I had was the dust on the chrome / silver wheels (July 14 build). (I don't like black wheels so I'm not changing the wheels.) They had started to make a slight squeak, which I didn't realise is actually the wear indicator telling me its time. (After...

    Preferred fuel for 6.2 L LS3

I've monitored fuel use in my Series 1 redline wagon (factory tune), on a 10 tank average I get over 1 litre less per 100km on 98 compared to using 95 even better against 91. (about an extra 20-50km on a tank depending on how its driven) So the 98 works out cheaper especially at the top of the...

2014 series 1 VF as redline wagon. What exhaust system you have

Roughly what sort of money did that set you back? Is there any drone when AFM cuts in?

VF Holden Commodore Issues and Faults

Mines the same, I recall reading about it in a magazine review too. A little disappointing but its not that obvious unless you're looking.

VF Holden Commodore Issues and Faults

CLS1980 / Sarras Not bad advice on the gearbox oil, but I would check the adjustment on the clutch first, I'm not sure what sort of actuator the V6 manual uses but a clutch lever/rod/cable that is just a little off will make it hard to get into first gear because the input shaft hasn't been...

Scan Tool Required to change rear brake pads????

Thanks Stooge, I will try that and see what happens when I get a chance. (Wife is out with the car). I seem to recall that pushing the button without the brake pedal makes it bitch at you with alert tones. :-(. Will try with short press to see what happens. It sort of makes sense its like a...

Scan Tool Required to change rear brake pads????

Nice post Stooge, thanks, just a small question. If you have press button start how do you put the ignition in the on position without starting the engine? Hopefully it will be a while before I have to replace the park brake linings but you never know! (Holden service manuals aren't what they...

What deal did you get on a VF?

After driving a company supplied VF SS-V Sportwagon for 18 months I decided to pony up and buy one. I toyed with buying brand new one and thought about waiting for the 2016 model (will it have 6.2?). But instead I picked up an ex GM Fleet Phantom July 2014 build Redline Sportwagon with 7,800km...

    Annoying **** with VF

Benny66 I have an SS-V wagon and an SS-V Redline wagon, neither of them whistle like that. I had VEs before that too. The SS-V is a fleet car and is pretty early 2013 VF build. Had a problem with the weather seal on the window week 1. Never whistled then either. I would talk to the service...

    Replacing Sill Plates

Thanks for the reply, I just found a copy of the accessories manual on the net, you have hit the nail on the head. After reading the instructions looks like I might need to find a warm shed. Says to keep at 22C for at least 1/2 hour to let the tape bond too.

    Replacing Sill Plates

Hi I have got some of the Accessory sill plates for my Redline to replace the standard ones. Unlike most other accessories they didn't come with instructions. I am not a complete newbie I have restored quite a few older Holden's which generally use clips or retainers for trims, (self...
