Problem solved. I used the Grey Illumination wire instead of the Grey Speaker wire when connecting speakers. WHY THE HELL USE THE SAME COLOUR WIRE FOR TWO DIFFERENT FUNCTIONS?! Anyway. Problem solved.

It had a stock head unit. I was pretty gentle with the harness when pulling the original one out. But yeh I could see that being an issue. The fact that the stereo plays its shut down chime through the speakers throws me tho.
