Ve - Vf engine and ecu swap

I've been looking at a combination of both first and second hand parts. A lot from the wreckers, although in good condition. Some wreckers will actually legally say whether or not they can guarantee a part will work, and even give you a few months warranty. If I bought all of this brand new and...

Ve - Vf engine and ecu swap

A lot of you are probably thinking this is quite the pointless task (especially relating to be apparent need of the Vf Ecu), I want to do all this for a few reasons. I want to create a mimic Vf from a Ve, I want a nice looking and functioning car, inside and out (and to be honest I hate the Ve...

Ve - Vf engine and ecu swap

I should also mention the Abs if need be, along with a lot of the other electronic 'computers' separate to the ecu relating to the drive if you will.

Ve - Vf engine and ecu swap

Alright, so I've looked further into it, and I've read on a forum that the Vf Ecu could work with the llt, yet I cannot find anyone else confirming that. So I think I'm back to the engine, trans, fuel pump, ecu, Bcm, and wiring harness (including part/all of Ignition to make sure the immobiliser...

Ve - Vf engine and ecu swap

Hey deltak, cheers for that suggestion, that could actually be really great!

Ve - Vf engine and ecu swap

I can get the engine, ecu, and harness for $4000, although since I've decided against the engine swap I'd just be getting the ecu and harness, around $500. I'm aware that I can buy a car that's similar to what I want, but where's the fun in that? ;) I want to turn a Ve almost into a Vf (almost)...

Ve - Vf engine and ecu swap

Rjk, I've decided that if I get a later Ve Sv6 (my10) it'll have the llt engine, which is arguably a step down, but most definitely substantial for me. That way I won't be swapping the engine, but instead only be swapping the ecu, wiring harness, Bcm, and a few other bits and pieces. My plan is...

Ve - Vf engine and ecu swap

I definitely see where you're coming from. But I have considered the costs of professional labour, and the amount of time I will be putting into this. I still believe it'd be cheaper to pretty much take the technology out of the Vf, and throw it in a Ve, rather than purchasing a Vf. I've read...

Ve - Vf engine and ecu swap

Because the llt and Lfx aren't awfully different, I think I'll go with the llt (my10 Ve sv6). I'll still be putting the Vf wiring harness and ecu in, but I'm unsure as to what would be compatible and what would need to be replaced. And vongy, I'd love to, but I don't have a gold mine anywhere...

Ve - Vf engine and ecu swap

You may be right on that one rjk, the Ve II's performance and the Vf's isn't that different, and it isn't as if I'm running track. The electronics do seem to be a reoccurring problem, I'm hoping that the Vf wiring harness and ecu will let me hook up a lot of Ve parts and work properly. I'll be...

Ve - Vf engine and ecu swap

Cheers deltak, I'm aware of the costs and what not, that's not really a big issue. The reason why I'm not just going to go buy a Vf is cost, and it just has a lot of unnecessary features that throw on more expense (also, the back of it looks ridiculous). My biggest concern with a project like...

    VF Front End on VE

Dunno man, we're thinking the same way though! ;) I'm not entirely sure, but I think the front of the Ve sticks out a bit further, so the impact bar might be in the way.

Ve - Vf engine and ecu swap

Hey all, first post so go easy on me! Call me stupid if you like but I've put a bit of research into this and I'm thinking of quite a large project, and I'd just like some clarification and insight. My plan is to purchase a Ve sv6 commodore, and replace it's engine and ecu, including full wiring...
