Suitable jump pack for VS ecotec

Thank you both for your information. @vsutepilot, cool. Thanks for that. I was wondering if it was somewhere around that range. @Jxw, I have been doing this in the past, and only got it charged enough to make solenoid noises.. even after jumping off my mates boost pack and taking it for a...

Suitable jump pack for VS ecotec

Hi All I was wondering if I could get some advice. I need to know what the minimum CCA rating of a jumpstarting pack would need to be so I can start my VS Ecotec. The battery isn't flash.. at best I get solenoid clicks and thats about it. I've had it running from a mates 1900CCA jump pack...

VS Plate & Reverse light not working - Earths?

Hi Again Hako and kinkbike_rider: just been out and had a look at this, pulling things apart etc, testing wires, it appears the problem is where the wires leave the loom to travel up to the boot, where it'd get the most movement. Problem is, going by the feel and look of the wires, it looks...

VS Plate & Reverse light not working - Earths?

Hi All I am currently having issues with my VS's number plate lights and reversing lights. I've checked the bulbs, but all are good. I also put the multimeter on the connections and found that there seems to be no volts. I was wondering if anyone could tell me of some things to check...

VS Battery Light - help please

Hi Again Peanuts, Thanks for that, will look into that tomorrow after work. PRH, Thank you also for the info. The battery light comes on before the car starts. I couldn't find a B+ wire, but found a D+ wire, that and the other wire I checked are, now, putting out 14.2 volts. Am not all that...

VS Battery Light - help please

Hi All My Mrs came home tonight and told me that she was driving long and the battery light came on. I took a look at the battery, no dry cells, and I checked to make sure that the red wire hadn't burnt out as described in other threads. The battery read at 11.99 volts on the multimeter and...

Gotta agree with most of you guys, funny that you get a visit, then it gets flogged, but only selected items missing. it had to be done to order ay. I really hope you can find your parts, and also get the VC up and running again.

    My Street Car Project

Dude, nice site!! have only read part of it, but am impressed with your indepth approach and knowlege, and your willingness to share it with the viewing world. I'll be reading it as often as I can. Good work

    What to do?

Another thing is to get used to the car as it is, then look at adding more power later once you are VERY confident that you can handel it as it is. There are too many Commodores (and other cars) written off every year by people who don't know how to handel them.

crack in radiator, can it be fixed?

Our VP wagon did the same. We went and saw the local plastic welding outfit and he ran a wee fillet over it for us, he couldn't put a garantee on it due to heat and pressure, but it kept it running till we traded it in, and only cost us $30nzd

Will a VN series 1 manual g/box fit onto VP series 2 motor?

Hi Ryan From memory, you will need a SII fly wheel as the SI ones are different, less bold holes or something. You will need to remove any bushes out of the end of the crank, and replace it with a spiggot bearing. You'll need to install the pedal box, which can involve unbolting the...
  13. R

    :)

From memory it has been done, but it requires more than just unbolting the old Tbar and replacing it with the new one, there's the console issue, the mounting plate is different from memory. I think someone had a thread on how to do the conversion, but that was some time back, and will take...

Hey All Thanks for your responses.. At lease I know now that they make them. Does anyone hav a pic of a wagon with the dickie seat in the back? Cheers

    Wagons with Bench Seats

Hey ya Just wondering if anyone would know if VN/VP wagons (or other models) came out with a bench seat and column change auto? We're kinda in a bind with kid no. 4 on the way, and the VK, VN or the VP won't fit 4 kids plus me and the Mrs. I know that Ffff..... Fffo.. (u know where this is...

    Found My Pride And Joy

Dude, your very lucky.. Along with the threat of having it burnt out, it also could have been marked for the engine and gearbox, meaning you may have got the car back minus the essentials. Definitly recommend you fit a switch to your fuel pump, and hav it hidden somewhere.. then they'll run the...

Can the VN beat the VE ?!?!

Too rite mate!! There's more to beating a car than just the speed.. at least the VN looked origional when it came out, and not styled after a bad photo of a.... welll I can't bring myself to say the word, but Ba comes to mind..

    Locked myself in my car?

Hey.. My Mrs did this the other day, check ur lock on the drivers door, if the slot is horozontal, you have activated the deadlock. As this is a feature not used very much by many drivers, when they accidentally turn it to this position it is very difficult to turn back. Use a bit of brute...

    battery acid

Check the acid level, make sure it's at the recommended level, too much may cause this. Also, this is a long shot, but if your alternator is overcharging and cooking the battery, and the overheated/boiling acid could spit out the holes.. You may wanna tape some paper to that area of the...

vl vers vn not quiet sure

Like it has been pointed out by several people, drag racing is not all about the car.. you can have the better car on paper, but if the other driver gets it right off the line when that tree hits green, he may take it. The only way you're gonna find out for real if you get onto the strip with...

    VR/VS steering wheel on VN

This maybe frowned upon, but if you get a short section of wooden broom handel, and a hammer, than jam your knees behind the wheel and using the piece of broom handel as a drift, line it up on the end of the steering column and hit that with the hammer.. this prevents the column from colapsing...

    RB20 into a VK

Cool, cheers for this, is the gouging for the cataletic converter? If so, I may not need to do this as I don't think it's law to have them over here :yeah: Are there any differences in the engine mounts?

    RB20 into a VK

Hi All Over here in NZ we have both RB30's, and RB20's in VL's This is definitly a RB20, it's stamped on the block. Thanks for the info page SL/ENUT.. interesting reading.

    RB20 into a VK

Hi All I was just wondering if anyone has put a RB20 into a VK (non turbo). I brought a origional low kms RB20 out of a VL, and now think it would be a good idea to put it into my VK as a around town car for my Mrs (as the 2 3.8's drink the gas like it's going outa fashion). Any...

    VN V8 Manual ?

What pandaman said sounds about right.. make sure the bell housing (lutch housing, whatever people what to call it this week) is correct. If it is not, I would recommend either getting a specialist to fit it to the V8 or buy the correct bell housing. Just remember if you do it yourself and...

    Lacking a Oxy Sensor

Hey All It is a NZ car, and the consumption is far better than the consumption of my VP auto wagon that has an O2 sensor (I'm talking $20 lasting about twice as long as in the auto). Do you guys recon there'll be any advantage to running an O2 sensor now that we can only get unleaded over...

    Lacking a Oxy Sensor

Hey I'm just doing a clutch change on my VN SII, and noticed when I took the front of the exhaust system off that the hole where the oxy sensor goes is plugged and the wire that pluggs into the oxy sensor is dangling and looks like it has had a wire put in to bridge the connection. What...

VN Calais 5.0 Efi to Carb!?

Agreed.. If you are gonna do all that work changing it to a carby, why not get hold of a 308 and trans that someone has already done the work on for you. That highrise and TB setup would look ok, but you would need a bug catcher to really finish it off
  35. R

    What do youse think?

I was looking at doing my VN in Hothouse Green, the colour really suits the car.. I'm looking at putting a group A kit on mine tho, with a custom grill (asuming I can find the manufacturor). Nice job all round, and I agree with Phoenix21, the gray grill works well

    Tow Trucks NOT HAPPY :(

    White Paint???

As far as your undercoat question goes, if you can get it over there without having funny lisences etc, 2K Fastbuild primer works a treat.. of the boddywork is a little pitted or whatever, that stuff will fill it nicely. get it in gray if you are finishing in white. A light sand before you...
