2011 VE SV6 - Dead ECU? Clicking noise and wont crank

Former Holden dealership finally looked at it, as suspected ECU was fried. No new ones around so having to put in a secondhand unit

2011 VE SV6 - Dead ECU? Clicking noise and wont crank

Yeah it is E85 compatible, has the sticker in the fuel cap and flex fuel sidi badge. I didn't think it was related but timing wise hard not to make a connection.

2011 VE SV6 - Dead ECU? Clicking noise and wont crank

I feel very unlucky after replacing the ECU on my 3.6 VZ One Tonner a couple of months ago after it died (had to the starter motor short circuit for it start, low fuel warning, contact dealer etc) well now it seems my 2011 SV6 S2 has done the same thing. The timing is either comedic or E85...

What to do about VE V8 AFM Issues?

Another update, car now runs and runs well! The ground wire from the back of the passenger side head had broke, at the moment I have it jammed between an exhaust bolt until I can figure out where that wire runs

What to do about VE V8 AFM Issues?

So turns out it was a dodgey fuel pump fuse, wasn't blown but swapped it out and the car started and ran, went for a drive and it was abit iffy but figured it was settling in. Got home left it for 10 minutes then went to go again and it's misfite city, threw the CEL with p0300 random multiple...

What to do about VE V8 AFM Issues?

So just to update, got everything back together today and after missing the main ground wire couldn't get it started. Turns out it isn't getting fuel, bypassed the fuel relay and she fired up no worries and seems to run smoothly but no matter what I try the fuel won't pump without bypassing the...

What to do about VE V8 AFM Issues?

Holden Geelong quoted $140 per lifter and $505 for the VLOM https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Buick-Cadillac-GMC-Pontiac-V8-Set-of-8-Engine-Valve-Lifters-Genuine-12645725/352264038959?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649

What to do about VE V8 AFM Issues?

Hi Chris, you can get the DOD delete kit for about $730 from ebay which has everything except the camshaft, camshaft seems to be about another $600-700 + the tune on top of that so a DOD delete was looking around 2k + labor (my guess is another $600-800 labor). So if you did go a delete I would...

What to do about VE V8 AFM Issues?

Would you happen to have the part numbers for the lifters and the LOMA? I'm seeing a few different types of each and almost everything has to come from the USA to be economically viable.

What to do about VE V8 AFM Issues?

Got the rockers off today, video below of cylinder 7 rocker play. Safe to say that's my problem.

What to do about VE V8 AFM Issues?

So I've confirmed without a doubt that the lifter is completely flapped! I'll get another video but it sounds 100x worse then ever and intermittent misfire has turned into 100% of the time misfire. So next step is to fix it and I'm hoping for a parts list? So far I believe I'll need: AFM...

What to do about VE V8 AFM Issues?

Thanks for the advice Monstar, I'm still sussing options but wouldn't mind keeping the AFM tech as I do alot of HWY driving. I'll pop the rocker sometime soon hopefully. Just a couple of updates, the car runs fine about 80% of the time and goes in and out of 4 cylinder mode but doesn't seem to...

What to do about VE V8 AFM Issues?

Hi All, Just bought myself a 2009 VE Calais V on the cheap because it had an engine light, turns out it's a misfire on cylinder 7 which I'm fairly certain is related to the AFM/Valve lifter. I've switched the coil packs around and same cylinder plus the issue stops with a good 4k neutral rev...
