    Types of pcv v6

I can't remember mate. I think I compared it to a friend's pcv and the spring tension was identical. I've since found out the engine needs a rebore. That's where my oil burning issue is originating from not the pcv. Hope that helps Tony

    Exchanging ecu

Hi the booster All caliper kits for Cortina are for 15 inch wheels. The Corry boys often change to 15 inch in their v8 mods. Anyway I've tracked down 2 new calipers and ling term I'll add a vh40 booster. Thanks for your comments

    Exchanging ecu

Well my jba is driven like I'm a very old man lol. I would have thought the v6 was better for towing though. Yes it has solid front disks. I run 14 inch wheels. Is there a mod I can do to get better braking? ...2 piston calipers, better disks? Ta

    Exchanging ecu

The JBA KitKat was first manufacturer in 1982 by 3 entrenched Leyland engineers. It is not based on any other design but the 1938 jaguar ss100 is close to it. Needing a TD Cortina donor car it is commonly made with the 2 litre engine although there is some with turbo Nissan and Toyota engine as...

    Exchanging ecu

Friday, hot day, drove 5 hours western district to Melbourne return. Car never missed a beat, including in traffic. IAC when cold operates much better. Economy better around 10.3L/100km towing empty box trailer on freeway. Car did have 3.7:1 diff (rd cortina) now has 2.92:1 from 6 cylinder Corry...

    Exchanging ecu

you have a good memory Mike. Yes we moved to Camperdown Vic. There arent any fault codes. However, I replaced the ECU this morning and immediately there was notable changes. - easier start up - that sucking noise commonly described by owners (that air bypass unit sorry cant recall the right...

    Exchanging ecu

I've purchased another ecu for my Kitcar manual trans vn v6 power. Is there anything I need to know when replacing it? I've assumed it's a case of disconnect battery, replace and reconnect battery. Tony

    Reconditioned VN 3800 - recommendations

Hi again, In the next 12 months we might be looking at another v6 engine in our kitcar. As always depends on things like selling our house. The builder of this lovely car in 2001 put a "reconditioned" engine in it in Perth. Since then its done around 80,000kms. But, it consumes oil around one...

    Fuel tank vacuum

Hi all, Since I've had JBA (for newcomers it runs a V6 3800cc Buick engine EFI) everytime I've unlocked the fuel cap a rush of air enters the tank. This vacuum I'm suspicious has caused me a few issues in summertime. In summer if having filled the tank and driven say 300km, the car runs well...

    Vn fuel regulator question

The eBay cheap IAC I had when removed a few times had the spindle loose, unscrewed from its invisible base. You could screw it back in one turn then it felt it wasn’t screwing, that the base inside was also rotating. As a contrast the new Bosch unit when it arrived was visibly screwed in much...

    Vn fuel regulator question

I replaced the for today went well, then started up the engine and would idle, that $28 IAC was crap, I’d purchased a new Bosch one $74 and the engine idled beautifully, went for a test drive, seems it has more power smoother and idled with no sucking sound when warm. Very happy

IAC sucking and high idle fixed

Yeh, thanks guys. I suppose one has to know their limitations. For me, anything internal I stay away from. This is because in my 20's I had Ford Escort Twin Cam cars Lotus powered...made for Bathurst. I had bad valves so off came the head. When I finished the job I had a rubber cone about 3...

IAC sucking and high idle fixed

Hi Mike The JBA still has a towing capacity if 850kg. So without carrying water I'm about legal. We're selling up at Strathbogie and building in Camperdown vic, then I'll get the capacity raised to 1000kg. Be sweet. Also got a 2.92 diff from a 6 cylinder corty. Replaces the 3.7. Means I can tow...

IAC sucking and high idle fixed

Members might recall my S1 V6 manual in my kit car JBA Falcon. I've had many issues over 3 years with the IAC. Some time ago I read articles here. So I renewed the IAC but alas couldn't afford a genuine so ebay was the answer. Still had issues. So took it out again and as soon as it was lowered...

    Speedo correction module t5

dered the Ford speedo driven gear 16 teeth- wrong type. The Holden one is 20mm diameter, the Ford type (both for RHS gearbox entry) is 17mm diameter. So, Ebay seller wont refund. Anyways only $38 lost there. Am going the correction unit now. How many of you have installed a speedo correction...

    Speedo correction module t5

Replaced holden 20 tooth brown dtiven gear with Ford 16 tooth whiye gear- WRONG SIZE The Holden gear is 20mm diameter and ford is 17mm. So, will look at the jaycar speedo corrector unit. Has anyone installed one?

    Speedo correction module t5

Thought I'd add a progress here as this forum has been most helpful. I've taken out the driven gear (with VDO sender unit). The gear is a 20 tooth item. The gear is for a right hand side (drivers) t5 gearbox. My diff is 2.92 and was 3.7 making the speedo indicate low by 20%. So need a 16 tooth...

    Speedo correction module t5

Thanks 07/GTS one problem is my VDO aftermarket speedo has a faulty odometer which as you likely know, has a button beside it that when pushed goes to trip meter and other stuff. Without that working you cant calibrate anything. A replacement is about $400....too much for me ATM. So looking at...

    No more sucking!

Recently I felt compelled to replace my IAC due to that sucking noise. But, it was intermittent still even cruising at 80kph. Finally off with the throttle body. Thete are two gaskets. The first one held on with two bolts seemed ok. The second one was absent and had a thin skin of blue sealant...

Hi guys IAC was replaced. Runs beaut. Engine was cold. Started it up stone cold, sucking noise and idle about 1100rpm then around two minutes idling settled to 700rpm. Drove it, zero sucking the whole drive. I felt it have better low rpm response say a 2nd gear corner taken in 3rd very smooth...

    VN throttle body v6 vacuum

Hi guys, have ordered a new IAC. In the meantime am chevking all vac hoses. This one pictured, has a small hose bent so it cant breathe with "VAC" written on the throttle body. I presume it goes to a carbon canister but my car doesnt have one. Should I leave it alone? Thanks

    Choke sticks on

Hi Mike. Problem fixed. It was the o ring. Started up cold this morning. No sucking. Superb, best low down grunt I've ever had, smoother, no excessive high idle. Likely more economical. Thankyou everyone

    Choke sticks on

Thanks mike C, Problem solved. It was the IAC o ring for sure I went for a drive this morning, engine cold. No sucking sounds, no hesitations and smoother low down power. Must also mention quicker acceleration with less pedal. Very happy I paid $22 for the ebay iac Mike...think I wont install...

    Choke sticks on

Hey grey man, you might be on the money. Took the IAC off. The "O" ring was loose on its mount and appears too small eg old. Anyway replaced it with an aftermarkt one slightly thicker and idle from cold was around 1200rpm for about 3 minutes then settled to 700, sucking noise stopped. Whereas...
