    Redline rear tyre choices

What tyres do people prefer these days? Not necessarily the absolute best (expensive), or the cheapest, but what's good performance/value? Also what is the widest rear tyre you can fit to the standard redline rim? Can you fit a 285? 295? (acknowledging that manufacturer quoted spec does not...

Replace Cats (already have HSV headers/cats & DPE 3inch catback)

I posted a thread a while back when I was contemplating an upgrade from my xforce mild steel cat back on my VF SSV Redline (auto). I ended up with upgrading to HSV headers/cats, difillippo 3 inch cat back, cold air intake and a proper tune.. The outcome was a really great and worthwhile...

Do not miss this! - rear bumper/diffuser upgrade option...

I spotted a thread regarding a US supplier who is developing an aftermarket rear diffuser for our cars (sedans). See link below (if it works), or search "Mobile Attractions" in Facebook.. https://mobileattractionsllc.com/chevy-ss-sedan-rear-diffuser-valance/ how come someone in OZ hasnt...

OK - well I bit the bullet and went for a Difillipo 3" cat back. I was worrying that maybe I should have gone with 2.5, but I'm glad I went the 3".. The sound is plenty deeper than the XF 2.5", and is a much refined, burbly effec. It doesn't drone at all as far as I can see.... The long centre...

Fitting VF2 or HSV Gen F GTS Bi-modal Exhaust to VF1?

Hey all, another exhaust query... I have HSV headers and cats on a VF1 SSV redline + a cheap xforce mild steel cat back. I want to change the cat back and have an option to get either of the later VF2...OR... HSV Gen F GTS bi-modal system. I'm not sure which of these would be the better option...

VF SSV 6.0 Redline Commodore AUTO Sedan - exhaust recommendations

HSV headers are Definitely a worthwhile, noticeable and cheap upgrade in my experience. I agree it's a good place to start - even before a cat back (or simultaneously) I'd say... and if that stokes your appetite for more sound and power, you can always upgrade from there later. And, I feel...

Thanks a heap for your contribution NewbC4KE. Interesting to hear the DF system drones a bit. I have a DF distributor/performance shop within walking(shaw - lol) distance from home and have kept this in mind as a serious contender for whatever next step I decide.. So your thinking of trying 1...

Well, as far as I can see, you can get a full xforce budget system for around $2,000 (includes same cat back as mine). Looking at the pictures of the Manta system, and noting lots of positive feedback on them, I'd pay a bit more for the system NAAF mentioned and give that a crack.

Well, for my part, I came into this as a bit of a novice as I haven't bothered too much with spending money on upgrades before even though I had 3 previous Commodores to this one... I hadn't looked into it all and thought the result would be good enough just getting a cat back thrown on.. Didn't...

VF SSV 6.0 Redline Commodore AUTO Sedan - exhaust recommendations

When I got the car, I had the dealer throw an exhaust on it without researching options. They added $800 to the cost of the car for the xforce mild steel. I appreciate the advice that the aftermarket headers and cats will add more pulse (which is something I definitely would like...), and...

Yes, I'm curious about that ..... AND, as I have kind of embraced the chrome trimmings on my SSV, I like the look from the rear when you can see the shiny system underneath quite visibly.. My current XF system is all black and adds no cosmetic benefit at all.

The Baillie Tip - anyone tried to copy it?

https://www.wheelsmag.com.au/features/1511/2016-commodore-ss-v-redline-a-backroads-blast-in-the-last-and-best-holden On the face of it, this seems a simple design.. Is is just a matter of drilling a hole in the top of the exhaust tip? Anyone tried doing something similar?

Thanks Monstar, so would the HFC"s change the sound much? I'm concerned the mild steel cat back might not last though, in hindsight prob should have had s/steel from the start. I wonder if I should try and change the mufflers... to see how that affects the sound. Eterno, no worries at all...

VF SSV 6.0 Redline Commodore AUTO Sedan - exhaust recommendations

After spending some more time driving the car, I still have a bit of a yearning to do more!!! o_O I concluded that the HSV headers and cats + VCM OTR + tune, to the xforce mild steel catback, improved the sound, power, and reduced the drone a bit. However, it does still seem a bit droney at...

Thanks again TL for your contribution. I hear you there about punchiness.. mine is Auto, and whereas before there was a "thud". into second, now it's a tyre skidding "smash" I don't like to thrash the car. Accelerating hard with a 6.0l plus is a quick way to loss of license.. But...when I have...

VF SSV 6.0 Redline Commodore AUTO Sedan - exhaust recommendations

Thanks for the contribution Monstar. Actually, no this is with standard HSV headers, and HSV cats. From what I read, it's best when doing this upgrade to use the HSV cats because the HSV headers finish in a different position to the SS header, which means the SS cats won't align with the cat...

Dyno results vs W310 pack = at the wheels?

I was just wondering about the comparison to W310 that's all. As it's an upgrade promoted by Holden Dealers, I was curious how my DIY effort compared.

Dyno results vs W310 pack = at the wheels?

referring to my other thread regarding the upgrade to my SSV Redline - Xforce cat back + HSV headers and cats + VCM OTR + Tune = 259.5kw at the wheels. Can anyone throw any insight (guess) on how this likely converts to kw rating "at the flywheel" as I understand the Walky 310 is based on a...

And, the results are in. I have only had a quick drive so far but my initial thoughts are: 1. It's a much better exhaust note now, I'm assuming it's the HSV headers to thank for it. It's a much more beatty, grumbly, growling noise. 2. Less drone now I reckon, as it's pulsing more. 3. Feels a...

Well, the HSV header + cats + OTR plus custom tune is due to happen Monday and I'll share the before and after dyno stats... I have some more questions if anyone has time to respond: 1. If I am offered a mafless tune, should I consider? I assume no as I have declared I am not chasing peak...

Thanks for the contribution Geoff. good to hear you had a noticeable improvement with just the HSV exhaust alone, and the OTR. Sounds encouraging for me! Thanks heaps for your input guys. Very interesting commentary.. remember I'm on a budget here and can't help but feeling that spending the budget dumping an existing cat back for a different cat back doesn't make as much sense as the CAI and TUNE, with the HSV headers and Cats thrown in and...

Do headers and cats make much difference to exhaust sound?

For a VF S1, SSV Auto sedan Is it worth adding headers and cats to a 2.5inch x force cat back system? -Does it make much difference to the sound? -Would it be worth trying to get some HSV ones, or better to go the whole way? many thanks!

VF SSV 6.0 Redline Commodore AUTO Sedan - exhaust recommendations

That's a good question TL. I was wondering the same thing... I could keep the current xforce cat back and add cats and headers for a similar cost (Di Filipino or Kpm) to changing the cat back alone. Not sure if this is the way I should go. And do I need a tune if upgrading if extending from...

Hey all, I have read loads of the forum posts going back years and there is lots of opinion regarding exhausts. But, it's left me uncertain and I would welcome any current opinion. I have an 2.5 inch X-force mild steel cat back. System let's out a nice growl on start up, and sounds pretty...
