Is there a separate connector for the CD stacker? I reckon it's the CD stacker chewing the power. It's pretty munted, makes unusual noises at strange times.

I know this is an old post but for the record mine is 014.018.132. VE SSV 2006 with Blaupunkt system. Holden want $154 to tell me if I need to update (price includes update if required).

Thanks rtmpgt. Just had a look at their site. Couldn't see any kits for VE SSV Dual Zones, or just standard VE's. Are you talking purely HU or HU and mounting kit? (Quote : climate controls are also built in and look pretty much stock)

Ok, it was the radiator cap. Coincidentally, both the old one and the new one were faulty. The new one had a slight imperfection in the rubber o'ring, I swapped it out with the old old ring (which was still OK) and whallah, no coolant loss! Thank-you to all those who responded.

Thanks, I did think that, but I tried the original cap and that didn't work either. I've contacted the radiator supplier and asked them for their advice.

That's a good thought. I'll check next year haha. The original cap and the cap supplied with the radiator have both been tried. Could be I'm double unlucky :-)

Thanks. I fitted the thumb-wheel gizmo to alleviate the problem of the battery going randomly flat. It may be that it adds to the resistance when charging perhaps and that keeps the alternator pumping juice into it. I'll try removing it. Cheers.

Good thought. It would mean the second replacement battery is faulty too, maybe Exide had a bad run? I have one of those point and shoot thermometers, that cold come in handy.

Thanks, I have actually bought a tong tester just for that purpose. There was no hurry to run the test it as I'd used the workaround of battery disconnection. I thought that was a good short term solution but now I've gone on a long run and the battery got very hot I'm going to have to sort it...

Thanks, but this battery was HOT, and now I've tested it it's half its previous capacity. I'm now thinking I should change out the regulator and / or BCM. A new BCM might solve a number of other issues but I'm concerned as to the complexity of swapping it out.

I might ring Holden and see if they can tell me what version software it should be running. I think the VE was also supposed to run calcium batteries, which have a higher charging rate than lead acid. The alternator is putting 14.8V into it when running.

OK, voltage when vehicle running at the battery terminals is 14.8V. The battery is an Exide Red, top of their range. I checked the CCA rating after it had cooled down and it is at just under 500cca, whereas prior it was in excess of 900. So the heat has buggered it up. The terminals are perfect...

Hello all. How can I tell if I have the latest software version installed in my V8 SSV?

Just got back from a 2 hour run in the V8 SSV and disconnected the battery (as I always do to stop it going flat) and the battery was very hot to the touch. I'm guessing that's not normal. Battery is pretty much brand new and voltage on display seems normal.

What oil are you running? I switched to Penrite HPR5W40 full synth and it pretty much went away with the first change.

Ok, I see the HVAC info is displayed on a little panel supplied with the kit. I also note that the installation manual is now on the Aerpro site (hadn't noticed it before today). So it seems any double din unit will suffice, and you pay for the options you need. Here is the link to the manual...

Don't have any of that in my SSV. Just want the HVAC info to display.

I guess my most important question is "can any double din touch screen head unit be programmed to accept the display inputs of the HVAC"? Or does it need something special? Hope that make sense. (I'm so far out of my comfort zone with all this new tech)

Not much joy. Pulled apart both under bonnet connections and cleaned thoroughly with a drill powered wire brush. Same readings on battery tester. Any other ideas as to where I can look? Cheers.
