VF Series 2 V8 Fuel Consumption

It is good to monitor fuel consumption as it can help identify if something is about to go wrong.

At least they gave you the option to have a more melow tune. When I called to tell them about the clunky shift they said that is the way it has to be because of the extra clutches. Now I am just waiting for the warranty on the rebuild to finish to start playing with the trans tune.

Let us know what the ATF looks like. Hopefully not much glitter will be found.

    What about a cooking section?

I had ago cooking a brisket the other day. Looked good but was a bit too dry. I should have stopped around 96C i think. Better to follow my Brazilian heritage and stick to the Picanha (rump cap). A bit overcooked but it was delicious !

It's been a while since last update but that doesn't mean nothing has happened during this time. The weird engine noise is still around, i stopped by the shop who cut the seats on the cylinder heads and the guy was kind enough to have a listen with a stethoscope. He doesn't think there is...

That explains why the thread was so quiet. A bit too uneventful for a modded commodore :). Me, who didn't go on holidays, had bad engine mounts , stripped valve cover thread on the block and a failed oil pressure sensor ! We are glad to hear you were having a good time.

6L80 (V8 Trans) experiences after power flush?

I had issues with my 6l80 around 120k km on my VF2 redline. No gear would engage. She was towed to the mechanic. The fluid was so,bad that blocked the filter. They replaced the filter and topped up the oil. After 5K kms I dumped the oil and the fluid was really bad and full off glitter. She...

What a shame the 10s didn't come this time mate. Apart from going NA , my only suggestion is to start loging so you can have some data to tick some boxes. We are all cheering and people are asking all the right questions and with a inexpensive OBDIi dongle you could be getting lots of important...

Yes , they were all around 180PSI. I will do it again. I applied a coat of oil on the cylinders wall after cleaning. It could be helping sealing it.

downstream O2sensor response with high flow CATs

Has anyone logged the downstream O2 sensors after installing the high-flow cat ? I just installed a 200 cell one on my LS3 and it is reading basically the same as the pre-cat sensor.

So as expected the O2 responses were really bad using the little extensions tube. I ended up ordering the Aeroflow AF49-1539 O2 sensor LSA extension leads. Note that some connectors are different between VF and VF2. So if you are using the workshop manual be aware that they could be different...

The cars dropping stuff on the track are from the backyarders thinking they are mechanics. Sometime I wish I wasn't one of them. Luckily for everyone else I can't even get to the track at the moment. Don't forget to get MPVI and start logging.

First start Front Behind it is definitely much louder with the new headers and cats. something is not right, fuel trims are going extremely negative stft -20 and ltft-7 . Wideband is showing very lean. When I open the throttle a little , the wideband shows spot on for a second and the...

Great advice. The garage fills up with CO very quickly. The wind flow is always in. I can not even think about reversing in.

She is officially back together. Unfortunately it's too late now to give it a go. Little boy's room is sort of on top of the garage. As soon as he wakes up she will finally wake up. After confirming she is OK, I will dump the water and oil and fill with clean stuff. This void on top of the...

What do they call it ,flood mode? You start the car stepping on the brakes and all the way on the accelerator at the same time. I did that but also had the injectors and coils disconnected. It is a good trick if you want to pretend the car is not working.

The oil dipstick bracket hole on the new headers was way out. Also the flange on bank1 is too thick not allowing to fit a socket on the coolant t temp sensor.

I forgot to report on the lifters and trays. The majority of lifter were looking ok but some has marks on it I couldn't feel anything when touching the marked lines The trays were still able to hold the lifters on the correct orientation having minimal play.
