    Replacing VZ rear rotors

Ty Ben boy. I sorted it out. Your pics would have made life easier, and will help the next person. :)

    Replacing VZ rear rotors

The problem was getting the drum off without dragging the park brake which was caught, and despite it being on full loose, wouldnt give. Have changed em on other cars before with no problem. Taking the pads out was a tip to make it easier to handle when putting back on to new rotor when you...

    Replacing VZ rear rotors

What a prick of a job that was. Whoever designed that park brake adjustment to be so darn hard to get to should be shot. A couple tips...the cogs are at the bottom, slightly off centre. On mine, rear pasg side was up to loosen, down to tighten. Take old pads out before you remove from rotor...

[VY] How to change transmission filter and fluid.

Great thread. Helped me change the transmission fluid, filter and that tiny o ring for the first time. Was very nervous removing the o ring, but a small sharp point flathead screwdriver and a gentle tap with hammer (pointing the shaft into the circle) followed by pliers did the trick...

[VY] Cleaning VY air conditioning evaporator without removing dash

    Vibration on Acceleration

Well, the rumble has gradually gottwn worse and is as bad as ever. Really anmoying as i have a great engine, yet cannot drive above 90kpm without significant vibration...unbearable at 100. Does anyone know how to fix this?

    VX vibrations from rear

I have the same problem and almost identical journey with my vx acclaim. I also replaced the rear gearbox mount (its very easy to do). That helped, but still, the main vibrations continue. Its very annoying as i have a perfectlt running and maintained engine but i cant drive above 90kph...

    Vibration on Acceleration

Nb: as i was under the car so much hunting around for possible causes, i also noticed the front left sway bar rubbers were self destructing. Piece of cake to replace. Dont notice any difference before and after, but happy to know a worn part is replaced.

    Vibration on Acceleration

Update sept 29: Im persistent if not stubborn. Changed mechanic. Got the tailshaft taken off and tested. Rear end was not perpendicular to the shaft. Got it machined, improved, but still a bad rumble...not "fixed" :( I replaced the rear gearbox rubber mount. Eliminated low speed rumble...

    Vibration on Acceleration

##Update## Tailshaft has been balanced twice. Not fixed. Had it up on the hoist. Diff had a slight noise, so drained, cleaned and replaced with thicker oil. Slight noise gone, vibration still there on the road. No detectable play in the wheel bearings, but thats the obvious next point to...

    Vibration on Acceleration

Im gonna get my mechanic to check this. Have a vibration under load thats not felt through the steering wheel and we have already replaced the centre bearing and balanced the drive shaft. Fingers crossed.

Rear shudder worse after replacing centre bearing. Vx wagon.

I suspect you are right...but how do they know after the fact which is the right position? Maybe im wasting my time with Midas. Love their vomment...its a normal VY acceleration shudder (which i point out it never had before...oh...and its a vxii lol).

Rear shudder worse after replacing centre bearing. Vx wagon.

Update...Midas "balanced it" today. Got it back, and its improved from what they did the first time, but still worse than i gave it to then originally. It still shudders bad under acceleration (about half better than their 1st effort). It shudders when cruising from 75kph (previously at 95+kph).

Rear shudder worse after replacing centre bearing. Vx wagon.

I suspect you are both right. Im hoping when i take it back they will try different positions and test drive to ensure they get it right. Im expecting given it was ok before, it should be ok again.

Rear shudder worse after replacing centre bearing. Vx wagon.

Can you elaborate on that a little? Hadn't given any thought to the auto...Odd that the issue arose after doing the centre bearing (which wasnt that bad...i was just being conservative and got them to check it out and they said the centre bearing had a split in it so i said fix it)

Rear shudder worse after replacing centre bearing. Vx wagon.

Maybe. But it wasnt before. Thats the wierd thing. If they had driven the car around the block, they would have noticed the problem in the first 100m.

Rear shudder worse after replacing centre bearing. Vx wagon.

Not a happy camper. Took my 200k vx Acclaim wagon in to get the centre bearing replaced at Midas. Picked it up after closing time and its shuddering like a naked eskimo in a blizzard under medium-heavy accelleration. Never did this before. FYI...i replaced centre bearing because of a...

    VY bonnet onto VZ?

Did you do this? Any issues? Did it line up? Im thinking about a vy bonnet for a vx.

    Common high KM problems?

My vx acclaim wagon at 200k now. Owned it since 40k when it was 1 year old. Did engine mounts about 120k, replace a plastic guide in window mechanism 140k, rear seals about 160k, replaced leaky rocker cover gasket on one side, front bushes at 180k, rotors at 180k, cleaned out phelum chamber at...

[VT-VX] VX - how to clean air intake and such

Easily the best post I have seen. Very helpful, and was pissing myself laughing. Cleaned up my VX Commodore Acclaim Wagon Pelhum and air intake, 190k today. Took 3 hours including trip to Autobarn for Carbi Cleaner. Very shiny on the inside now. Clearly more power/responsiveness. Most...
