VX Fuel system - V6 Ecotech

Does anyone have a diagram for the fuel system for a 2001 VX V6 - my daughters can runs well on LPG - but always a bit shitty on Petrol. Now it just splutters and dies on petrol. Have always suspected fuel pressure was inadequate - so either fuel pump dieing and now dead or fuel filter ? Is...

    Possible Thermostat issue 2006 SV6

I think there is a couple of heater hoses there plus a valve arrangement to adjust heating - whp the cover off and you will see them! By the way - my VZ has red coolant not green ?

    Possible Thermostat issue 2006 SV6

Also check your filler cap - these usually fail by going soft - i,e releasing coolant before the top pressure has been reached, but can also fail by over pressuring - i.e not releasing. This may be what blew your radiator core . A new cap is a lot cheaper and easier to fix than a thermostat.

Holden market share in free fall.

I read recently that Kia are considering a 10 year warranty - currently 7 years. Now there is a company that has some faith in its product and doesn't view customers as an opportunity for a long term trip off .

    [VIC] Basics for a newbie

How about you and your mates getting together and buying some simple gear - such as Trolly jack - the bigger the better Axle stands Ramps Oil filter wrench I have been servicing my own cars for years (cos I am a tightarse and detest getting ripped of by Holdem dealers) - we have 4 between...

    Alloytec oil pump gasket ??!

So - just for fun attached a photo of the back of the original GM pump that came off without any seals . on the left - oil discharge to filter housing, centre - oil pick up from sump - right - bolt hole. So it looks like the groove has been machined to receive an O ring - but - no O ring...

    Alloytec oil pump gasket ??!

I did my Leo just recently - no gasket when it came apart so no gasket when it went back together with the new pump. There is a machined groove on each of the joining faces, but not deep enough or the right shape for an O ring seal. I put a smidge of RTV silicon in there to make sure. Oil goes...

    Engine cut out while driving!

I'd be checking the battry connections first - you would be surprised how often what appears to be a good connection is actually loose. How many kms has it done?

On this basis the wife's VE V6 LPG is a hot vegetarian pie, whereas my SSV G8 is curry Steak with extra chilli sauce in an American wrapper!

    Engine swap

I can understand this - the ecotecs were a lot better to maintain and debug than the alloytecs.

    Things that p*** you off/bug you/annoy you

Idiots who sit in the middle of the lane at a T junction trying to turn right . They block you from turning left , when if they were on the white line where they should be you cold get past with ease . So you sit - and wait . And wait And watch the gaps in the traffic get bigger - and bigger ...

    Things that p*** you off/bug you/annoy you

Hey - I am in my early 60's - was on a crowded tram one day (standing) and this young female asian teenager caught my eye and - offered me her seat ! - Laughed my head of but declined and thanked her profusely. At least some parents still bring up their kids the right way !

    Things that p*** you off/bug you/annoy you

Agree - they are hard to find but do exist - when you find a good one support by spreading the word.

    Things that p*** you off/bug you/annoy you

Has happened to me twice now - car door based by some ###T parking too close and opening their door - they know they have hit something and done damage but don't give a ###K and bugger off before you return . I woud like to think there is a special place in hell for these W###ers.

Holden market share in free fall.

I wouldnt worry too much - in 10 years time we will be 100% Chinese owned - all the good stuff will be exported to China and we will be left with all the cheap crap. Too late to start thinking about starting a manufaturing base then!

No More Harrier Service At Dealerships?

Agree -Harrier extended warrenty was another way for the Holdem dealers to relieve you of some money for little or no benefit . Extended warrenty sold when you buy the car - the catch ? 1. Doesn't cover a lot of items - extensive list of what is does cover 2, Service interval 10,000 kms - not...

    Vz led headlights not working

Find the main beam relay in the fuse box - have someone switch on the lights whilst holding your finger on the relay - if you can feel it clicking - look for loose lead. If not replace relay.

    Steering lock engaging while driving

You might want to think about filing a report with the Aus Government - see link below. Wont get you anywhere, but when writing a complaint to Holdem you should mention that you have filed a report. This might just get Holdem to take it more seriously (and pigs might one day fly)...

    Spark plug replacement

always worth changing the plugs, but be real careful taking the coils off, as they can stick like crazy and pull apart if not careful. I also use dielectric grease when re-assembling - but not sure if this makes the sticking better or worse..

    New front brakes

Agree - need to be careful with brakes - Firstly - ensure car is adequately supported on jack stands . When the calipers come off - tie them up so they are not left hanging on the flex hoses . One way to retract the caliper pistons (without a spreader) is to put a 1/2 inch socket inside and use...

Holden market share in free fall.

Just think about this - Years ago you were either Holden or Furd - Footy or Football - Meat pie or Choko roll, Then along came Toyota. Toyota proved you could manufacture cars in Australia and make a go of it - why - Strong effective management . Point is - in a few years time Holden will be...

    2006 VZ - check powertrain

Hi - you might want to think about buying your own scan tool. There are various ones around . I bought an AUTEL AL 619 a couple of years ago (EBAY) and it allows me to read codes, check O2 sensors, gives some live data re fuel trims and more importantly - erase codes to turn the MIL light off ...

    Nulon 5W 30 stock up ( VZ onward )

I run penrite HPR5-40 in my VZ wagon with 240k on it . Recently put an oil pressure gauge in and routinely get zero psi (yes 0) at tick over when hot. Put in a new oil pump - only marginally better so thinking of going to Shell Helix 15-50 next time . A lot cheaper than Penrite so might change...

    VZ Inlet Camshaft phasers (LEO)

Thanks for the advice - these are units for a V6 alloytech - just been quoted $290 each (not available) or a kit of 4 - (2 actuated for the inlet and 2 plain sprockets for the Exhaust) for $655 - so you can understand my reluctance to buy new from Holdem (to ransom).

    Need some advice

If you are thinking about cleaing with a 50/50 oil diesel mix - try this as well. With the oil drained and sump plug removed - remove the oil filter and slowly pour kerosene down the central oil way that feeds the filter. The kero will slowly work its way back thru the oil pump and down into...

    VZ Inlet Camshaft phasers (LEO)

Gentlemen - above is a photo of the 2 inlet cam phasers. Notice that the sensor plate on the left (R) is rotated about 5 degrees further anti clockwise than that on the right . (L) . In addition, when I released the torque on the bolt holding the left unit on , the sensor plate sprang back about...
