    All went good, the thread wasn't bad, just at the end, so the new part wouldn't bite. The M14 x 1.5 Intermediate tap did the trick, it didn't have to do much, just cleaned up the start of the thread. The new part went on sweet. All good.

There are seals on the outside of that shaft, and that's why you need the boots, to stop dust getting into those seals and into the ball joint of the rack end...

    "According to the vehicle’s handbook, it has a load limit of 480 kg....." I still reckon it will be sweet if you drive carefully. The load limit is set low so the manufacturer won't be liable, you just need to drive careful. It's not going to bottom out, unless you go rally driving.

    I would. I've had 5 x 100 kilo punks riding in my old VT sedan (including myself), what your talking about is just one extra punk, no problem. Wagons have stiffer rear springs. It'll be sweet i reckon.

    VU has 5 x 120 pattern, 12mm studs, with a 1.5mm thread pitch and a 60 degree countersink on standard wheels. Centre bore is 69.5mm. Offset is around +45 or a bit under. A spacer is going to affect your offset in the negative direction.

    I figured on any given cylinder, when one valve is open fully (e.g intake valve) then the other (exhaust) would be completely closed and vice verca. I'm not sure how to get TDC on a particular valve, this way just seemed easy. Correct me if it's wrong though, but it seemed to work perfectly.
