Hi Jez, I experienced similar about 12months back. Replaced my spark plugs and plug leads and the problem went away. You could just have come crap in one of your spark plugs. Pop your bonnet, and start the car. Remove one plug lead and if the engine becomes rougher, that is not the culprit...

Mine failed about 4 months back. I was $hitting bricks that it was gonna cost a fortune. I called a locksmith, who said it was a common problem in the VT's and fixed me up with a stronger 'pin' and barrel for 90$ installed.

I just installed some in my VT Acclaim Series II, and I also have this problem. I only just noticed the problem today, the globes have been in for almost a week. I may just find the cruise sensor wire, and add an extra resistor (to the value of a globe) to the line, and see if that helps...
