    alloytec vs. sidi

It's bound to be the same engine, just different fuel-injection as others say.

Vn just wont stop leaking power steering fluid.

Another way is to try a good quality power-steering stop leak : http://www.supercheapauto.com.au/Product/Penrite-Power-Steering-Fluid-Stop-Leak-1-Litre/342317

Sv6 using as much fuel as ssv

It's worth ringing them and making an appointment with Caleb via the workshop on the phone if you want to go ahead. He's also there on Saturdays if that helps. I'm putting him in 'legend' status for work on my [other] car. He sorted out some lets say nasty to diagnose engine problems pretty...

Sv6 using as much fuel as ssv

Here's what all the other 1998 Commodores are getting on fuelly.com http://www.fuelly.com/car/holden/commodore/1998 I get 8.4l/100km on highway and around 10.1l/100km around town. So something is up with your car for sure. I'd take it to Caleb at Ingleburn Alignment in Memorial Avenue at...

    [LS1] Replacing mufflers with hotdogs

I'm a Commodore noob but I for one reason or another I was asking about this today at a Muffler Shop. Apparently, when it's done with a Tune that's when you get the best result. The Exhaust guy was telling me that there used to be a guy that would upload a tune for $200 to correspond to the...

Putting SV6 engine into Equipe Ve series II 2011 ?

Basically they all fit * (in general terms). Whether they actually do perfectly is another matter. All my other cars are engine swapped so it does work. I have an engine-swapped Renault and an engine-swapped Toyota. Getting the engine from the SV6 will be even better than the stock engine in...

    Turbocharging my SV6 with a Rear-Mount-Turbo

That's correct. It's a tiny Garret. Once I have things working I'll upgrade it to something else. Yes, I'm planning to add extra Injectors and such if needed.

Do sensors need replacing with age?

Sounds more like an intake manifold leak. Possibly at one of the Injector O-rings or a gasket. You'd need to spray around with hydrocarbon spray to find the leak.

    Temperature Gauge Stressing me out

I had this on my SV6 when I drove it back from Auction 10 days ago. Likewise I was stuck in traffic with nowhere to pull over and the temperature shot to 75%. What you can do to bring it down in a situation like this is to turn on the heater and blow the cabin with hot air. Yes, cook yourself...

To flush or not to flush???

I've just started working on my new girl and my 5c is always trust the flush. To avert the oil starvation issue, which is valid, add half a tube of anti-sieze. That way if the oil lines do block you still won't get metal to metal contact and the anti-sieze will save it. It's two days later...

Engine Swap - Bottom Knock End Ve commodore Equipe 2011

A bottom end engine knock is bad, but not a fatal fault. It can run for years. There are two things you can do though. - Get the engine mounts checked. These hold the engine in firmly. If they are loose, they might be exaggerating the problem. If you replace them, it's sure to minimise the...

what did you do to your car today?

Yesterday was desludge day #1. Got the old oil changed out after running oil flush for 30-minutes. Today added in the anti-sieze and ran around a bit on the $15 'supermarket' quality oil. omfg what a good car this VZ SV6 is. Yes it has faults but tested out the newly found LSD in the rain...

VT Berlina using heaps of fuel

I've only just picked up a Commodore and just got it registered. So just speaking generally. I checked my highway f/c and it was 7.5l/100km and around town 11.5l/100km. There's an alternate way to clean o2-sensors and that's to spray a mild amount of water from something like a hand-sprayer...

    Synthetic oil not fully synthetic?

Often it's not so much about what base products are used, but what the final mix results achieve. Tuning of the oil to conditions is everything. It's really hard to go past Nulon or Penrite in their premium ranges in this country for quality product. I'm not against any Premium product that...

    Sluggish vp v6?

It's most likely to be the way that it was driven by the previous owner. Also things like oil and spark plug condition. No car that gets babied it's whole life ever feels fast. I'd change it over to the best premium synthetic oil you can find and change the spark plugs. Copper is best. Start...

    Ve Sv6 Manual converison

well ok. The other way is to search Australia/Wreckers for a VE SV6 transmission such as http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/HOLDEN-VE-SV6-5-SPEED-V6-AUTO-TRANSMISSION-AUTOMATIC-COMMODORE-STATESMAN-/282491221909 or...

    Ve Sv6 Manual converison

What are the symptoms ? When is the last time it had a fluid flush ? Personally, I'd spend $160 first on getting a fluid flush before assuming it's dead. On my other car, it came with a really bad slipping Automatic transmission when I got it. I used some Lucas Automatic Transmission repair...

    Vs v6 turbo size

I've spent a few days researching this and asking in tuning shops. Here is the chart for most commonly known turbo's. After lots of asking around, I've been told that the GT-Pumps GTPN03 (which is a TD06SL2) might be good to start with found here: - http://www.gtpumps.com.au/ That's what...

restoring a old vb sle 308 how do i get it registerd for the road

Basically it comes down to ensuring that all the safety items are done, getting a roadworthy inspection and certificate, paying the third-party insurance and paying the registration. The challenge on any old car is checking that everything here is working properly: - brakes; must work well. I...

    Turbocharging my SV6 with a Rear-Mount-Turbo

Here is the car picked up yesterday. It seems I'm the proud owner of a nice blue SV6. Thanks for the reply. The turbo upgrade will be happening over the next month. I'll post when I know more. In the meantime my dear SV6, prepare to be BOOSTED!

    Turbocharging my SV6 with a Rear-Mount-Turbo

I have an SV6 which I'm adding a Rear-Mount Turbo to, a bit similar to this. The question is ECU tuning. How friendly are these Commodores to adding turbo-charging ? Will the standard ECU be able to accept a map up to about 6-psi ?

Water injection on blown 355 ???

Yes, I ran a Mitsubishi for a number of years with Water-Injection. Ok, not a Commodore. Start off with the smallest nozzle. You'd want your nozzle after the blower not going into the supercharger. Water doesn't compress well and will strain your blower mechanicals. However, on your water...

    Vz Misfire

Don't panic just yet, the logical other alternative is that it's the Camshaft Position Sensor failing. That will easily explain the misfire.
