Just to clarify the bimodal settings, if you have the bimodal on, the mufflers are open at idle but the close until 3000 revs when they open again. For me, this setup is good. When cruising at highway speeds, there is no dreaded drone.

Plus a sealer/shine finish of Afterglow or Fully Slick.

I'm very happy with Fabracadabra from Bowdens. Applied with a soft toothbrush (gently) and wiped off immediately. Once dry, sealed with Fabratection. Takes care of the platinum Alcantara in the Calais very satisfactorily. Australian made Bowdens products are my choice for exterior finishing as well.

The Redarc unit is the Tow-Pro Elite and is very simple and effective to use. It's the best I've owned. Had it installed by a 4wd company, so can't help with requested detail.

The control unit is out of the way, but is easily reached and operated. Michael

Regarding the Caprice/Calais choice, don't forget the handling differences due to the longer wheelbase of the Caprice. The Calais feels nippier through the turns, but the Caprice is smoother on the bumpier bits. The Calais has the LSD. Don't know if the Caprice does.

I was in the same boat. Chose the Calais wagon cos I needed the softer suspension. My wife has back injuries and the Calais has been perfect. I love the bimodal exhaust, but she doesn't.... After 22,000 ks, we are both happy campers.
