VT knocking noise (with and without serpentine belt) - Video Clip

I will have time to work on the engine tomorrow, my first thought was grab a straight steel edge ruler and check for exact alignment with other pulleys, a visual check (with belt on) could easily miss a few millimetres discrepancy, failing to find fault with the alignment will see the HB removed...

VT knocking noise (with and without serpentine belt) - Video Clip

Indeed, this is the proposition I am leaning towards as well... unquestionably the key was damaged but I made it worse, so this next question is will the timing cover need to be removed to replace the woodruff keyway insert or is there a work-a-round? I was under the impression the CAS was...

VT knocking noise (with and without serpentine belt) - Video Clip

I have checked the HB again today (in daylight) the all the bonding appears to be holding and turning as the centre assembly is rotated, but the card in the bike wheel sound remains a concern. The keyway was clearly damaged but difficult to locate so I am guessing this isn't the first time the...

VT Series II sometimes cranks but won't start **intermittent problem**

This sensor causes a lot of headaches, depending on vehicle the location changes but the work around remains the same... pour cold water on sensor (this also worked on a XJ Cherokee)

VT knocking noise (with and without serpentine belt) - Video Clip

Hello guys, tried searching up information for this in the forums but keep getting the "Oops sorry..." page instead. Just replaced the crank position sensor today on a VT Ecotec V6, required intermittent water (over sensor) during hot weather to start but otherwise reliable old unit...

    VT Berlina - Alternator Issues

Thanks for your reply, I grabbed a second hand unit from the bone yard this morning (when they opened) for $88 and installed the new regulator (I had bought initially) on that, problem solved voltages now behaving as expected, alternator running warm but not thermo nuclear hot. Never had an...

    VT Berlina - Alternator Issues

2c this morning with a frost on the ground so pretty damn cold, voltage at dash cluster (engineering mode) sat on 13.9v for most of a short 4km trip dropping eventually to 12.8v, I think this alternator has overheated and output drops off the hotter it becomes so off to the car bone yard for a...

    Electrical Tape

I've been using Nitto (from Bunnings) since DSE closed it's doors, it certainly does the job and is better than all other tapes available locally

    VT Berlina - Alternator Issues

Our old VT Berlina (430,000Km) recently developed charging issues, battery went bad (wouldn't hold charge overnight) and so got replaced with a new Delkor unit, 2 days later the charge light came on, checked voltages (engineering mode and multimeter) and 11.9v was the norm at idle, a new...

    Identifying power steering rack

I haven't had a Commodore since my old faithful VH and am having a degree of difficulty identifying the type of power steering rack fitted to this 1997 VT Berlina I am currently working on, I have googled and searched these very forums but the answer alludes me, at present I have been given...
