A built 408 is going to cost me around the same as an lsa with a cam in it. Thinking the forged motor with the bigger blower may be the option here...

Real question is lsa or build a 404. Will be the same money. I'm getting the fuel tested for water to make sure it's definitely not the fuel.

Immediately jumped on 5 being an issue if it's a fuel problem. Said that hsv normally walk away if they can't see a consistent problem accross all cylinders. Note that this come from the wakinhsaw dealer (guy who did the work) not walkkinsahw themselves.

Fuel looks ok, injectors passed the test. It is boiling down to a fuel pump issue. Frustrating that other mechanics can throw an engine in a car without fixing the original problem.....

Well sounds like I'll be talking to Walkinshaw/holden. Hopefully mine is covered under the 5 year warranty. I'll make some enquiries next week and let you know how I go.

How long is the warranty through Walkinshaw? They said they might cover parts depending on whether or not the fault was "mechanical". Haven't figured out the dir ct cause yet but leaning towards an injector.

Just give you guys an update on this one. Went lean on #5, blew a hole in it and looks like a piece of the ring was bouncing in the combustion chamber and wrecked the head. So best case engine out either way. I need some ideas for the upgrade! 383, 408 forgies?

I'm talking to the previous owner to get some information. It's hard to say as there is oil everywhere definitely didn't come out of the filter and looks as though it's both sides of the gearbox... I'll have to make sense enquiries next week. Think it will be an expensive activity!
