    Koni / Bilstein Shock Help

So I have been refunded for the Bilstein kit & Springs. I have decided to go with the MCA kit. Josh at MCA said the Pro Comfort kit is more suited to daily driving, with 10kg Front, 10kg rear springs. Or the Pro sport with a 11/11 kg spring. The sport would be about 20% stiffer at the lowest...

    Koni / Bilstein Shock Help

Hi Shane I just got a reply email back from Eibach regarding the springs for sportwagons. Question is ""Hi There, has this kit been discontinued for the VF Holden Commodore Sport Wagon Range. Thanks."" Answer is ""Hi, The rear springs for the VF & VF2 wagon models are no longer availble. The...

    Koni / Bilstein Shock Help

Would you recommend asking to cancel the order for the bilstein and looking at the pro comfort range from MCA. I was looking at the pro sport but another member suggested they would be way to firm for daily driving for my other half.

Just double check Banjo, 380mm both sides rear. Front is 400mm neat both sides. I purchased the eibach pro springs the other day, Got an email from the seller today saying that they have been discontinued so refunded me. Waiting on an email from Eibach Australia to find out if this is actually...

    Koni / Bilstein Shock Help

Hi Paradox, trying to tighten up the turn in and rebound slightly. Possibly slightly lower but not a harsh ride. My wife drives the car mostly in town. I tend to drive on trips away.

    Koni / Bilstein Shock Help

I'd just put SL's (KHFL 151SL) in the front and lower it to match the rear ride height and leave the rear stock. Wagon's tend to sit a bit lower in the rear than sedans and SL's in the front drops it to 375/380mm and levels the car out. Feels much the same as stock in ride quality but turns in...

    Koni / Bilstein Shock Help

Hi Nev, which King springs would you recommend for a SSV sport wagon. Currently the car is sitting at 400mm front hub centre to arch. Rear is 380mm. Looking for improvement in performance, but maybe only slightly lower then current or around the same height. Not a fan of seeing the old bumping /...

So you rate Bilstein as a reasonable dampener Shane?

    Koni / Bilstein Shock Help

Unfortunately Nev, I don’t have access to track for development where I live. Most “Jo Blows” realistically can only purchase advised on other owners impressions of those particular parts. Looking at reviews on parts for the commodores not only here, but also in the US highly recommended Eibach...

Thanks Shane I ended up purchasing a set after look at the Chevy SS forums as Bango suggested. They are also very highly regarded on many other makes of cars.

    Koni / Bilstein Shock Help

Hi Nev, the kit I have purchased has the B8 shortened shocks in it. I wasn’t really looking to lower the car. Just replacing the worn shocks with a quality aftermarket replacements. I guess most on the manufacturer’s not all, unless coilovers don’t sell kits to replace at factory height unless...

    Koni / Bilstein Shock Help

Ours has a tow bar fitted, but we have never used it. I’m not sure how the car was used before we purchased it, it was a combank managers car. It’s usually fairly empty in the rear most days. I will have a look on the Chevy SS forum to get some more input. cheers

Do you think the kg rebound rate on you springs may have been to heavy Nastas?

    Koni / Bilstein Shock Help

I just had a look at mine sitting in the garage. Sitting at 400mm from center to middle of arch. Rear is at 380mm. Front would be about 1.5 to 2 inches above the tyre with a 30mm drop, rear about 1-1.5inches.

    Koni / Bilstein Shock Help

Thanks heaps, I have had kings in the past, were a reasonable spring in my VR. No intention of starting the 10 millionth kings thread. I just don’t really know a lot about Eibach or H&R. I hear they are very highly rated or regarded for comfort in aftermarket applications though. Hopefully the...

Replacing brake pads without surfacing rotors.

I run Ultimates on my VF SSV with T3 rotors. Wholly crap do they produce some dust and noise. They stop really really well, but sound like a bloddy V8 supercar when pulling up. Will be looking at different pads when they are worn out.

    Koni / Bilstein Shock Help

Yeah very true Banjo, our driveway is fairly flat and I have a kerb ramp in the gutter as it kept rubbing the front of our old Mazda 6. I only replaced the strut tops (Superpro), the end links (Whitline) and front sway bar bushes about a fortnight ago. So should be all good in that department...

Is $381.00 a fair price for a full Eibach Pro kit Shane. Why do you rate them over H&R, Kings, Pedders etc?

So I just bit the bullet and purchased the Bilstein package. Hope they work as well as the factory did. It hurts the wallet a bit though.

    Koni / Bilstein Shock Help

Is 90,000km a far run for the stock FE2 shocks/ struts to be worn out. Our car has had a reasonably easy life, but we do live in the country so the roads are really horrible.

    Koni / Bilstein Shock Help

what do you think of the fulcrum ComKit11 Shane. It comes with the B8 shocks as part of the kit. Hopefully I won’t get to much of a raise when installing with factory springs. But may look at H&R or King springs etc if that happens.

    Koni / Bilstein Shock Help

Fair enough lol, I think I will go with the Bilstein kit and possibly some additional springs. I can obtain the kit for $1440.00 so think that is a reasonable price. Looking at around $500 for H&R springs to suit. Not sure if there are better springs to suit.

    Koni / Bilstein Shock Help

Sport yeah I meant the pro sport. That’s good new with the Bilstein though. I know they are a bit pricier then koni, but they also include the front strut in the fulcrum comkit11.

    Koni / Bilstein Shock Help

I’m sort of leaning more towards the Bilstein kit. I also have a quote to do a complete coilover kit from MCA. street sports for $2450 delivered, just not sure if I want to go that route. Big difference in price from $1750 for the Bilstein to MCA’s kit. I do under stand there is a lot more to...

    Koni / Bilstein Shock Help

Hi All, I am wanting to replace my flogged out shocks on my S1 SSV sport wagon with 90,000km. I have been looking at the Koni KONI-2100-4074 kit and Bilsten Comkit11. I found a thread in here stating that the sport wagon require rear bump stop 16mm extensions for both of these kits. Can anyone...

Strut Top Mounts Worn or Failed

Good Morning, Thought I would post for fellow owners that have front end knock in VF or VE commodore front suspension. The factory rubber strut top mounts tend to fail around the 50,000km mark on some vehicles creating the knock in the front end over bumps etc. To test if they are worn out: 1)...

VF V8 AFM Exhaust Drone Fixed

I think in some applications they will sound great. Depending what type of sound you like. I found they also didn’t have the “beat” sound I was chasing. The HSV factory mufflers and some others seem to produce that sound a little better. With the h pipe the smooth beat is even more pronounced.

VF V8 AFM Exhaust Drone Fixed

Yeah, I was very impressed with how they sounded on the sedan. A nice deep note. I just couldn’t get past the reverberations in the wagon, even with dynamatt in the spare wheel well and surrounding floor.

VF V8 AFM Exhaust Drone Fixed

Hi MPower, I did purchase a set of J pipes. I found they were to loud in the wagon and still droned a substantial amount due to the size of the cabin rear. I have listen to them on a sedan and the reverberations seem to be much less.

VF V8 AFM Exhaust Drone Fixed

Hi Krusing, yes that's the correct spot just in front of the elbow. I added a 2.5 inch section.

VF V8 AFM Exhaust Drone Fixed

I gather the h pipe has allowed a better scavenging effect. Also allowing exhaust flow to the other pipe increasing pressure when in 4cyl mode. This may help to fill the rear mufflers to remove the drone.

VF V8 AFM Exhaust Drone Fixed

I did look at purchasing the range disabler, but I wanted to keep the AFM on due to most of the kms being done around town. Krusing, I also notice that the VF2 GTSR had a factory H pipe. Not sure if it was for performance and sound or some drone issues as well. Some corvettes and the new Camaro...

VF V8 AFM Exhaust Drone Fixed

Hi All, first time posting long time viewer. I have been watching quite a few posts on afm drone with larger exhausts, particularly with VE & VF wagons. I finally figured out on my wife’s VF SSV after much trial, how to all but eliminate the drone while afm is still active on the car. My exhaust...
