    Actually the Tonneau Cover being on or off doesn't make a difference and having the tail gate off for better fuel economy is a myth, utes by design create an air bubble behind the cabin which has the effect of changing the airflow over the vehicle having the tailgate off or down gets rid of this...

    What 6L motor to drop into vz wagon

    Definetely go the L98 they breath better than the L76 and better than an LS2, infact if you put a cam in it with the same profile as an LS2 it would go harder because the heads breath better.

    I'd opt for one of the Cross varients, wither a Cross 6 or Cross 8, they have the extra height already and you don't have to worry about stuffing around getting new rims etc. You'd also need to make sure when getting your new rims that they are load rated to the vehicle regardless of the load...

    2006 VZ Commodore Ute - Check Powertrain Issue

    I had similar symptoms on my crewman it turned out to be the Crank Angle Sensor, it would run fine for weeks then bang it'd run rough no power etc. However best to use the scan first because it also comes up with misfire detected, blocked injector and a whole host of others.

    LS2 water pump dying?

    Are you losing coolant as well? Usually when the waterpump is screwed you loose coolant and the pump itself makes an awful noise. probably not an LS2 in a VZ either would be an L76 or L98 and while these aren't LS1 they aren't LS2 either.
