    Mix engine mounts?

Yeah cool. I guess every set up is a bit different how and when it resonates. The technico racing ones have now had a real good run. Super happy. Tuff mounts have a very good rep too, otherwise they wouldn't get used so much. Cheers for the reply.

    Technico racing engine mounts

Hi all, I had a post about engine mounts in 400rwkw LS1 VX. I ended up stumbling across Technico racing rubber insulated engine mounts, I was unsure about moving to a urethane mount as I am sick of breaking rubber mounts but wanted to try and keep it smooth. After a couple of weeks I can only...

    Mix engine mounts?

Update, I ended up changing both engine mounts to a new type I haven't seen before. Great product! Smooth as factory, very minimal movement. 200km driving. They feel great. They look tough. The removal of the old ones was a nightmare, as all the extra pipe work, coolers and di-fillipo headers...

    Something a little different.

Throwing out there a a little question. Vx are getting old, prices getting higher. Are genuine low km standard ss and clubs ports worth more than a mildy modified one? SS just turned 20, 116k km. Should you drive it or park it?

    Mix engine mounts?

Yeah, sweet. It will almost be worth it not to change mounts again. Been through a few sets over the years. I've heard that urethane gearbox mounts give more vibration than engine mounts. But I've never broken one of them. I'll do the same, I'll post too if I end up going that way.

    Mix engine mounts?

Just a little concerned about vibration though. I guess each car is different to.

    Mix engine mounts?

Thanks. Like a little survey. Haha.

    Mix engine mounts?

Thanks for the reply. Yeah I'm thinking of this. Genuine mounts are getting dear. Maybe I need to stock up before they cost more.. I figure I should ask before I try.

    Mix engine mounts?

Hi All, Vx ls1 400rwkw. Has any one heard of installing one poly engine mount on passenger side and one factory on the driver's side? I do drive the car a bit, not daily, just wondering if anyone has experience in this? Would it just put too much stress on the rubber mount? I just keep...

Tubular rear end into VX SS

Yeah bushes have been done. That did help. Will soon raise it up an inch or so. I guess the old age question of can YOUR IRS commodore be low and not kill tyres is answered again. Lol.

Tubular rear end into VX SS

Yeah i am a bit lower than that, not tucking the factory 17s though. I probably get 15k km out nankang ns2r 140 treadwear. I would say it has probably improved since MCA installed and set up the coil overs. Thanks for the replies so far.

Tubular rear end into VX SS

Fair call, sounds like a whole lot of places I don't need to go. The factory does do a good enough job. I've read posts about a swap to a later model rear cradle. Maybe that will be an easier path to go.

    Very high under bonnet temps

Update. I haven't been here for a while but. PWR radiator and 2 12 inch spal fans in a shroud did the trick.

Tubular rear end into VX SS

Hi guys, has anyone put a tubular rear end from showtime fabrications into their SS? Just wondering about feedback as I can't see any write ups on them. I am looking to upgrade to a later model rear end from the VXs1. 15 years of wearing out tyres on the inside is taking its toll. I am...

Abs operates at low brake pressure.

I've taken the rear sensors out and cleaned them, they were covered in a few mm of like metal dust. The front ones are in the hub so I just cleaned the plug and made sure was a good connection, so I will see if the clean fixes it, so far it has been good, but need more time to tell. Will see...

Abs operates at low brake pressure.

Sensors don't look bad, nothing stuck in there. Will the scan tool record things like that? It doesn't happen all the time, it's intermittent, once or twice the abs symbol has come up on the lcd screen for a few minutes, then goes away. But that has only happened once or twice.

Abs operates at low brake pressure.

I have a 2003 vy one tonner and intermittently when under light braking in a straight line or light braking and turning, the abs operates and the pedal vibrates. The car has 350km on it and is well serviced and runs great. I'm wondering if it would be a sensor problem or a module problem? Has...

    Vx rear cradle conversion

Yeah they help a little. I understand my car is lowered and this will happen. Is there any difference between vy and vx2?

    Vx rear cradle conversion

Cool. Yeah I've never really bothered as I usually only do 3-5 thousand km a year. But I have heard it helps with tramp aswell. Not that it happens alot, but the old girl needs a bit of tlc..

    Vx rear cradle conversion

Awesome, cheers. Sounds like it's something I should have done years ago..

    Vx rear cradle conversion

Hi guys, I am looking to help lessen the dreaded negative camber issues faced with having a lowered 01vxss. I have been talking to people who have put vy irs into the vt/vx1 and had to swap the tailshaft for the vy one. Will putting in a vx2 rear cradle be ths same as using a vy cradle but...

    Vx ss engine oil cooler

Ive heard of people installing the coolers behind the inner guard, does anyone know of any threads of an install? The thermostat bypass is going to be necessity I think. Any pics aswell?

    Vx ss engine oil cooler

Sorry for the late reply, it didn't notify me there was replies. Yeah I'm over the 400rwkw. I'm seeing Temps over 210F on my autometer temp Gauge after sitting in traffic, soon drops below once I get driving for a minute or 2. I'm not underdriving pulleys. I just would like to try engine oil...

    Vx ss engine oil cooler

Just wanting to know how effective having an engine oil cooler has been for anyone with an ls1 in a vxss or similar? I have Gilmer drive vortech and space between radiator and pulley is at a minimum. Otherwise I would go straight for pwr 55mm rad. Anyone with figures of extra cooling, any tips...

Engine idling rough VY S2 Commodore

Hey guys, just saw the post. I have 03 one tonner v6 with 340k on it, I too had a **** of a time tracking down rough idle after ignition module, coils, leads, plugs and ended up finding the factory plenum gasket had a minute leak. I used carby clean to spray around under the plenum where it...

3.8 ecotec rough idle problem found

I forgot to mention that another item affected from the vacuum leak was the operation of the fan vents inside not switching between circulating, feet and windscreen settings. Even the gearbox was changing into converter lock up in overdrive a few km/h earlier.

3.8 ecotec rough idle problem found

This post may help someone who is having issues with 3.8 v6 ecotec. I've been having some trouble finding the source of a rough idle in my 03 vy ecotec v6 for some time and have found the issue. It started as just a little burble at idle every now and then and kept getting worse. After changing...

    Vx header tank delete

I have a vx ss with a vortech v2 and have had some cooling issues. Since I got a monaro bonnet and removed the rubber strip at the rear of the engine bay it has helped dramatically, specially in city traffic. The problem put down to heat soak in an over crowded engine bay so I want to free up...

    Very high under bonnet temps

The Guage is toward the rear of the motor, when the autometer Guage has hit 230ish the dash temp Guage is showing about half.
  32. 01SS

    Very high under bonnet temps

Yeah I've just put the right angle piece back on, the piece behind it, the sump guard and to top rad cover as well. Yeah it's a 98 degree thermostat, which is what the temp sits on most of the time (around 210f on the autometer Guage) , after sitting in traffic for a while or having aircon on...
  33. 01SS

    Very high under bonnet temps

Still a bit warm in traffic, still getting warm. Air con is a no go unless I'm on the highway. That brings the temp straight up.
  34. 01SS

    Very high under bonnet temps

It's pretty good now. I've reinstated all of the top and bottom shrouds to factory spec.
  35. 01SS

    Very high under bonnet temps

Bit of an update. I have put all new plastic shrouds and covers and the sump guard back on. It makes a little bit of difference as when driving the temp drops below 210F, but with the ac on or stopped in traffic for a while the temp still heats up over 210F. I am going to look into getting the...

    Very high under bonnet temps

I'll get the tuner to check the fans, they seem to be working fine, well both fans come on and off fine, not sure what Temps they are set at. Does anybody else with large 4 into 1 extractors suffer from really hot floors near the tunnel?
  37. 01SS

    Very high under bonnet temps

Cheers, that's my next step. I'll post when I can get those fitted.
  38. 01SS

    Very high under bonnet temps

You're right, the 2 plastic pieces underneath have been removed I have those, not the piece that covers the gap on top of the radiator. Under normal driving its fine, just sitting in traffic stop starting its gets terrible heat soak. Those guards never went back on, those pesky little plastic...
  39. 01SS

    Very high under bonnet temps

Yeah looks like another option to try, it does use a lot of fuel, even driving around off boost. The difilipo are hpc coated, would there be an advantage to pulling the extractors off and wrapping them?
