    Brembo 6P/4P upgrade 2016 SSV

The 5th Gen Camaro 6-pot monoblock Brembos fit under stock SSV-R 19’s. I bought 20” for a new look.

What other cars did you consider when buying?

In 2016, I had $85K all up to spend. I looked at new and very, near new cars; BMW M2 (2016) and M3 (2014) - quite laggy from the go. Porsche Boxster 981 (2015-) - I'm too tall. Audi RS3 (2016-) - My second choice. 2016 HSV Clubsport 340 - I honestly don't like the look of the rear. I...

    Tune Update - W375

Impressive results for a W375. A cam on that would be near 340kw and 750NM, nice!

Because even wreckers know they are on a good thing and charge you a mint for second-hand units. Upwards of $4k. Also, some of them need refinishing, anyway. I like mine, brand new, barely different, genuine Italian made Brembo....come with the Brembo name on the front.

I paid a premium ordering from Australia (Empire Performance) but others have bought through eBay and saved a lot of money. Mine were $1799 for fronts only, but they are red colour refinished. In the US, they only come in Silver, Black and Yellow.

Just buy fronts from OS, you can get 6-P Brembos from a Cadillac CTS-V, direct fit and then buy really good two-piece DBA 5000 Series T3 club spec slotted rotors here. Add braided lines and just buy rear Brembos from a wrecker. You will have almost HSV-style brakes for less than $3k

How to determine brake pad wear

When you do get your wheel off, it will be easy to pop your head around and see inside your Brembo calipers. Taking out pads is a doddle. Just a pin punch and a hammer, to remove pins & tension plate and slide out the pads. https://ibb.co/dc2Dwe

    W407

$3.6k from WSM, will get you slightly more than the W407 cam, without need of a stall converter on a slush box. About 460rwhp or 500rwhp on a manual. Good exhaust and headers will cost you about $3k, but try to use good gear, makes all the difference when you want quality noise without drone...

    W407

Mine is now making 340kw and 750nm. Running 11's on the strip and uses fuel as well as can be expected, around 9.4L/100km on the open road. I love the pant of a cammed NA engine. It certainly has street appeal as the car rocks at idle quite noticeably.

Who has the best 98 RON Fuel

It might be different where you live, but I doubt it, but we have no refineries in QLD and all our fuel comes from Singapore, via ships. The formulations are different, 91, 95 and 98, but only blended ethanol e10 is adulterated here (which is 94RON). So, I am not sure how the fuel is any...

Who has the best 98 RON Fuel

Best way to clean injectors is out of the vehicle using ultrasound. I also doubt additives do much more than raise octane, for those particular types. I do add octane boost to mine, especially if the weather is hot or especially humid, it seems to work.

Who has the best 98 RON Fuel

I agree, that is why in my post I suggested I needed 98RON for my car to even drive without pinging.

Who has the best 98 RON Fuel

I love this guy's rants... https://autoexpert.com.au/posts/bp-ultimate-advertising-fail-why-you-really-shouldnt-use-premium-petrol I only use 98RON because I need that for pre-detonation, running a worked engine. All the other claims are pretty much BS in my book too...

    Tow bar bike rack

I would stick with a tow-bar accessory bike carrier, they are easily removed after use, can get some good ones that lock to tow-bar and have lights fitted to them, plus the accessory plate...etc.

Thinking of selling my VF - opinions please!

Our family has a current model Jeep GC Summit, best $92k we spent. But...Fiat Chrysler Australia are the biggest bunch of w@nkers to deal with for any issue. Also, keep the tyres evenly worn or the transfer case sh!ts itself. It gets clunky. What the Jeep has for the money is second to none...

CAPA's New LFX (VF) Supercharger Kit

in 1999, I had an XH series 1 Ford Tickford XR6 and used a Vortech supercharger. Had 300rwkw, was so good. Fully sealed unit without an intercooler. If you get the injectors and intercooler, it's probably best and will yield better numbers. I think I paid similar money back then, so it's...

GM Motorsport August Intake & Tune special $990

That's pretty good, stock they're around 230-240rwkw. With a OTR CAI, headers, exhaust and tune, about 290-310rwkw Add a cam and tune to above, 325-350rwkw my gearbox tune deleted the blip on changing down and it engages a bit harder, with a thump, but it's easy to spin in first three gears.

Brake pad options for heavy duty front brakes on VF Commodore.

You can get slotted DBA4000 T3 front rotors for the Redline, for same price as factory rotors. https://brakesdirect.com.au/aus/dba42604s-dba-4000-series-t3-slotted-brake-rotor.html I personally love the two-part rotors, DBA5000 T3, but they're a tad more expensive...

Stage 1 (OTR / headers) tune results

They tuned out the blip-on-down-change, of my gearbox, to make changes faster....I miss that, but it's handy on the track. My exhaust is a lot deeper and throatier than stock, not had it up against one with some/not all exhausts, like yours. But, I understand the feeling of having a really nice...

VF Series 2 V8 Fuel Consumption

I still think it might be best to follow other advice on here and get a second opinion dyno run, something seems a tad off, but I am certainly not the best at interpreting those types of results. But, how can you not use the V8's potential, the byproduct will always be liberation of...

VF Series 2 V8 Fuel Consumption

Interesting, mine was same, now with cam added to W375, it idles in neutral at 3.1l/hr and idling in drive (braked and not moving) at 3.8l/hr. I still get 440 on highway and as low as 300 in town, but with 422kw it's a heavy foot and fun for me.
  36. T

Stage 1 (OTR / headers) tune results

I don't think it's a 'top secret' cam, more like I just can't remember all the nomenclature of the custom grind...it's not a catalogue item. They made it to perform without surge and to accept FI in the long run. I didn't want to go the stall converter route and I wasn't too fussed about hitting...
  37. T

Stage 1 (OTR / headers) tune results

I have a full DiFillipo system from Walkinshaw, no bi-modal anymore. 4into1. I think they're 1 7/8". The cam is fairly mild, was a custom grind...because I want it to take on FI at a later stage. Yes, it has a bit of lope, no stall converter required for the slush box.
  38. T

Stage 1 (OTR / headers) tune results

You can expect that with a cam and the rest, but you shouldn't be there just yet... I get about 440km/tank with those numbers. Mostly driving in town.
  39. T

Stage 1 (OTR / headers) tune results

Blue line is just OTR, headers, exhaust and tune. The red line is with cam and another tune. 438rwhp and 743nm.
  40. T

Stage 1 (OTR / headers) tune results

you can expect 285-301rwkw from OTR, headers, full exhaust and a tune. you could expect 325-350rwkw with the addition of a cam.
