    Vy indicators not blinking

The relay could be stuffed? Not up on auto-electrics, but if the relay is not switching on and off, it would cause that to happen. Auto Electrician could sort this out for you without too much hassle.

17inch alloys and low profile tyres

Low profile tyres will make the car ride more harshly, especially at speeds and on rough roads. It's always a compromise between looks and ride. There's no escaping it. However, if the suspension is stock, it will be a much smoother ride than your old lowered suspension. Soft suspension...

    Vy Calias Radiator Leaking

Is this after the car has been sitting in the garage for a period of time, or is it something that occurs after you've been out driving? If it's something that occurs after you've been driving, it could simply be from the air conditioner. I'm just not sure how coolant would leak out only...

    VC SL/E Stationwagon

I'm buying a 2004 VY II SS Ute for work/play. Probably won't modify it too much, I'll be paying it off for just over a year, but it's already had a little bit done to it so I'm not complaining. http://members.optusnet.com.au/billyjowright/2004SS.jpg...

    VC SL/E Stationwagon

Tyres are new. This car is my daily driver, tyres get replaced often. No matter, car is on the market now, not going to bother fixing up anything else, no return on investment anymore. Going to be losing about 5 times the car's value no matter what I do so...

    VC SL/E Stationwagon

Sorry for the thread revival. I'm currently selling this car. Please see http://forums.justcommodores.com.au/showthread.php?p=444480#post444480 for details. If anyone is interested in it, preferrably in the Sydney area, please let me know. I need to get rid of it to make room for a new...

NSW - 1981 VC Commodore Stationwagon

No doubt, it's unfortunate the k's are so high, otherwise it wouldn't be a problem. Like I said, if anyone wants to make an offer, I'll consider it. I'm hoping I won't have to go down too much but I certainly won't be passing up a good offer. I priced it to give me a little haggling room...

    Overheating, Wats Left????

I was having overheating problems a while back. Turned out to be a faulty pump. Cheap to replace, I'd try that first.

Could always build a small compartment on the sub-box to hold the amp. If the box is the right shape, and it's big enough, you can just screw it onto the side of the box.

    Installers sydney

There's also a place at Blakehurst, up near Sylvania, called Precision Audio. They do a fairly good job, award winning installs. I worked there for a while, and the installers are awesome. Can't say much for the salespeople or the boss, but the guys out back rock. Precision Installations...

    V8 carby or efi

I guess it's a case of old-school charm versus efficiency and power. I'm sticking with my 308 for the charm and the sound. I've found that no matter how beefy the EFI sound is, it's never quite as warm as the 308. The new V8's are just too quiet for my liking. Still, even with my 308...

    :: Lowagz ::

There will probably be a bit more loss than with normal speaker wire, as the material probably won't be as conductive. Still, awesome setup. Also, did you coat the wires with some form of anti-rust formula? Scrubbing the wires with steel wool will take off the surface rust but if there's...

    Supercharger.

Hey everyone, I was just curious if anyone could give me a bit of information on superchargers. How much does it affect fuel consumption? How much potential horsepower could it add to a well tuned 308? How much strengthening would the engine require to handle the extra power? Is...

6x9's don't like my new car - please help :)

Perhaps the amplifier in the head unit is damaged and not sending a proper signal to the speakers. I'm assuming you're running the splits off the amplifier, two channels from the head unit to the stock speakers and now two channels from the head unit to the new speakers? I too find it hard...

car batt flat how long to charge?????

Depends on the battery and the charger... I find the best way to charge a battery is in a running car. Hook it up, jump start the car and go for a long drive.

    1985 Ford Escort RS 200

I got an SMS from a mate of mine the other day about an interesting historical fact. The 1985 Ford Escort RS 200 on road tyres managed a 2.2 second 0-100, and pumped out a jaw dropping 1.8 second 0-100 on slicks. As if that wasn't scary enough, this was all accomplished with a 2.175L 4...

    No Dash!!!

On my VC, there are two earth terminals in the steering column. Does it make a difference what they are plugged into, or do they both lead to earth?
  24. G

    No Dash!!!

Retrace your steps. My guess is you disconnected something near the ignition barrel that you forget to reconnect. I know that sounds obvious, but if you retrace every step you made, you're almost guaranteed to find the problem.

    VY Side Mirrors

Hey guys, I was just wondering if anyone knew how hard it would be to convert a pair of VY side mirrors to fit onto my VC wagon. I know I'd have to get the electric control system installed for it, but my real concern is attaching them to the car itself. I'm thinking I might have to get a...

    bubbling problem

Might need to look at the fan (or get one if you don't have one). Also check that the water pump is working properly, and that none of the hoses are blocked or the radiator itself isn't clogged. They are the basic things I would check first, but there's a mountain of stuff to sort through...

    bubbling problem

The cooling system might be running under par. Does the car overheat while you're driving it at all? Does the temperature gauge ever go up towards the top?

    sound....

Don't see the point in investing in a large subwoofer if you're just going to reduce the bass output. If you're after low/mid frequency output with alot of punch, stick with the 6 x 9 or 8 inch speakers. Going larger than this is unnecessary, you're really just paying more for traits you...

    sound....

Punk actually sounds rather pathetic with a sub. The only other speaker I would consider instead of the 6 x 9 inch speakers would be 8 inch subwoofers. They are extremely punchy and generally don't have the overwhelming sustained bass that you get with larger subwoofers. If you go larger...

    Amplifiers, how many?

I'm building the system from scratch, I'm working out what speakers I want and then how to power them. No point in deciding on the amplifiers first and then looking at what I can use them to power.

    2nd Amp

The question was to find out if the cable you're using is rated to handle the current that would be drawn to supply both amplifiers. Cables are current rated. Obviously, the thicker the cable, the more current it can carry. I'm an electrician by trade, and I can tell you that using...

    Amplifiers, how many?

I doubt I will be entering SPL competitions. It's just that I'm a bit of an overkill person. I like knowing I can, it doesn't necessarily mean I will. I prefer things to be done properly the first time around. I'm not sure on the impedance rating yet. I was considering 4 ohm coils, but I...

    Amplifiers, how many?

No doubt. Do subwoofers with a power rating as high as those need a monoblock each, or is there a monoblock that can power both properly with no distortion? I don't want to sacrifice quality to save money. I would rather buy two amplifiers and power the subwoofers properly than buy one...

Bonnet - Door Lock - Solenoids?

I'm not sure what they call them, but there is a system of ensuring that the bonnet does not fly up if the latch breaks. The bonnet is pinned down using steel rods with high tensile cables. It's used on alot of high performance or racing cars. I'm sure you'll be able to find a picture of it...

    Sound proofing?

I just recarpeted my car and installed the sound proofing underlay supplied by Knox Auto Carpets. The difference is amazing. I can now hear my stereo much more clearly over the exhaust, and the stereo itself is giving out a much better sound with the dampening effect of the sound proofing...

    Amplifiers, how many?

I'm looking at running a pair of DD9500f's by Digital Designs. I'm still not sure on the speakers yet. I was considering Boston Acoustics but I can't find what I really want on their website.

    Amplifiers, how many?

I rarely run the stereo without the car running. I'm paranoid about the battery going flat, as one of the cars my mother owned had an electrical problem which caused the battery to drain very quickly. Tell me more about these monoblocks, sounds interesting. I always thought that you needed...

    Amplifiers, how many?

I was just wondering how many amplifiers of a significant power rating could be run off a standard car battery. I have no intention of putting in an extra battery to power the stereo, and I would like to have all of my speakers amplified. How many amplifiers can I install before I start to put...
