Ignition Coil Placement Heating up Fail 253

Hi, So I posted this question yesterday but thread has gone phantom, strange, I cant find it anywhere. I'll keep it simple, ive had some starting issues (will not fire)in my VB Commo, just before this I had remounted the coil on the rear firewall above the passenger side rocker cover. Ive...

    Ignition coil Placement location overheating

Hi all, If you don't wanna read the full chapter just shoot down the bottom to my Final questions. I had a thread some time ago about my VB 253 suddenly breaking down a few months back, its been a slow process due to lack of time, but I've been trying to diagnose the issue. Although receiving...

Andrew thanks for your detailed responses, very informative, also to everyone else. I haven't had much time to touch the car due to work demands and will be away on holidays soon for some a while. In time I hope to solve the issue, once I have I will update my results to the thread. Thanks...

253 wont start after running fine

If I used an aerosol starter or fuel directly down the throat of the carby and it didn't start the car, would that remove the carby from the equation? Ive replaced the Dizzy with a brand new cheap ebay model which was given to me with the car and new plugs but still no luck. Im gonna try get...

253 wont start after running fine

Hi Andrew, thanks for the detailed response. Well ive checked the rest of the plugs, they are fouled pretty bad, I tried burning the carbon deposits off them then cleaned them with degreaser, car actually didn't do any better after that, think they're still rough. Ive read holley pdf, as...

253 wont start after running fine

Hey ah! today I topped up with low octane 91 to dilute the 98 (just to rule it out) so I got the car running, but really rough, bit of smoke and backfired a few times, let it idle for a bit, its as if it hit a flat spot and later stalled, I started it again, backfired, then I had to advance the...

253 wont start after running fine

Ooh! dunno. But dumping fuel down the carb throat should have made it start though, wouldn't it? Maybe ill turn it over with fuel line off and see how much comes out. Ive considered a fuel lock aswell.

253 wont start after running fine

Hmm, very interesting about the module, I think that will be my next avenue after I finish exploring something another possibility. Oh also im using a Rai distributor with Bosch Module, pretty new. I went back to my mates house with the timing gun thanks for the idea Kruising. while cranking I...

253 wont start after running fine

Oh thanks man, thats very generous, Im out near Tullamarine Airport, but the car is not to far from home, Ill get it towed for now and see what I can figure out. Maybe in a few days if I get desperate, hehe! I keep coming back to the valve saver in my head, I loosely put almost a cap in with...

253 wont start after running fine

Yep so took the old VB for a quick squirt, ran it for around 15 mins, engine temp was 185 (85) car running smooth, no pinging, topped up petrol, added some valve saver (maybe a little more than I should have) had car idling for 5 minutes at petrol station, drove 5 mins down the road to a mates...

    Help! Electronic distributor wiring relay

You still have it? how far off being finished? whats the plans with it? Ive been there, well prob not as far as that, years back i turned my last VK car inside out nearly 2 times, 3 set of interior, 3 different engines, respray, upgraded everything, then I sold it around 10-12 years ago for...

    Help! Electronic distributor wiring relay

Haha! yep we've been hijacked by big spenders in the old holden scene. For me id rather not expel energy and money into cars again at this point of my life, the steady increase in price and popularity prompted my decision to purchase again, im gambling on the prices of today being minimal...

    Bypassed heater, overheating

The heater core is leaking in my VB Como, I temporarily bypassed it until I repair this core, I done this by running one of the original core hoses around to the thermostat housing again, is this correct. I haven't driven it but noticed on idle the temp is getting over 3/4, I tried flushing air...

    Help! Electronic distributor wiring relay

You noticed this as well, Ive had a major headache looking for a decent commo at a fair price here in VIC, if something good comes up it sells to quick. I even quoted transport costs on some interstate cars out of desperation. Got lucky in the end, I think. see how much this project costs in...

    Help! Electronic distributor wiring relay

a few months back I was collecting V8 conversion parts before I purchased this car, found an early commo V8 wiring loom private sale, he wouldn't take less than $150. I think ill just go the relay option, less hassle, cheaper and I wont have to interfere to deeply into the original frail...

    Help! Electronic distributor wiring relay

Hi, I'm upgrading my old points distributor to electronic on my VB 253, the two options are bridging the starter and ignition wire to give my coil 12V rather than the original 9V, Do I understand that correct. I've also read a 12V power source can be run direct to the relay and the original...

    Please help

Do yourself have power, dash? Is this a result of doing any work to the car or engine bay recently. Is it auto? Could be your neutral switch. With foot on brake, while holding the ignition turned to start. slide the gear Shifter slowly from Park through to neutral and back a few times.

VH instrument cluster into VB - LED lights, Heater Fan

Hi there, Having some problems, I just purchased a VB commodore, it is without issues. None of my instrument lights work, after a little researching I decided to fit LED globes, everything worked except the top right globe nearest to the tacho/oil T plug , upon starting my car I noticed the...

Late model interceptors on Early Commodores

Yea, legit police gear seems to be pretty popular these days, your right, theres a flurry of misconception among ex cop cars, I looked at Purchasing a VH BT1 a few months back, after hours scouring the net, I found (common knowledge to most but me) that not all BT1's are interceptors. From my...

Late model interceptors on Early Commodores

Hi there, Fresh on the forums, been out of the car scene for a while. This might seem like a ridiculous question. So im looking at purchasing a set of stock interceptor wheels with tyres, ive noticed a lot of VT-VZ wheels, will I have any offset issues fitting later model wheels of this era...
