    Climate control differences

My VF S1 is just the opposite of the OP- -- Driver side cool and pax side a bit warmer. Quick fix was to isolate the system to individual settings and turn both to max cool. Wait till very cool then link both sides and tick "auto", then change setting to desired temp and both sides then...

VF SSV Water leaking ALL over front passenger floor

My Series 1 VF did a heater core at 55k. The fix was remove the dash to get to the heater core - $1200 fix.

VF series 2 Ute Roof Leaking

My panel guy mentioned this as a known fault of the seal under the roof strips.

    Castrol Magnatec 10W-40 = Shell Helix 10W-40?

Hi Skylarking - I should have added a bit more. Not sure if Penrite still do this as I haven't looked for a while but they used to (or still do) produce a rather large technical volume of the breakdowns of their oil base stocks and the results of SAE conforming testing of their product line...

    Castrol Magnatec 10W-40 = Shell Helix 10W-40?

If anyone wants to know more about oils and lubricants than you would use in a lifetime Google "Bob is the Oil Guy" (BITOG). Personally I prefer especially now to try to buy Australian as far a practical so it's Penrite for me.

    Basic modifications

Add $3k to what Ron said to include a cam and DoD delete kit. For $8k on my 2015 S1 L77 I got extractors/3"cats with full stainless 3" system back/mid range cam/heavy duty lifters n springs/OTR intake/dyno tune. This also included a Displacement on Demand (DoD) delete kit which all L77 and up...

New family car - Subaru ?

The missus runs a 2012 Subaru Liberty-R 3.6L boxer, 2 sports modes, flappy paddles - goes well. All up a very comfortable and roomy car with some nice touches in interior. No issues other than road noise on some surfaces, none on the newer topping surfaces. I reckon new rubber in a month or so...

Deciding what to get VF or VF series 2.

Hi Skylarking, certainly not trying to correct you - rather add info for others :-) The Displacement on Demand (DoD) kit which is the AFM hardware has to be removed on L77 6.0L and the 6.2L VFII, and the galleries plugged and plated over when doing a cam/lifter/valve spring change. Not cheap in...

2014-2017 VF Series 2 SSV Build Numbers Revealed by Holden

Just my 2 cents and based on the co-operation of Holden Customer Care as other have indicated above I requested paint info on my Ute: 2015 VF SS S1 Ute (manual) in the colour "Some Like it Hot" (metallic off red) - result was 12 manual and 12 automatic. They were very responsive - overnight info.

    VF mufflers

Alz with respect and from what I have previously read here a "nice grunt or two" is a large order with a Sv6. I can't help you as I run a 6.0L which is a different game. Hopefully someone here that has been through the ordeal with a V6 will be able to advise. :-)

    Magnum "fastest ute ever"??

Thanks for the lap video Chuckmeister, would be awesome with on screen telemetry (Speed/RPM/gear).

VF2 Redline - Manual Gearbox / Diff Issues

My 2015 VF/SS didn't shift smoothly from 1-2 with 38k on the clock until I drained the factory fill and put in Penrite full Syn Pro gear 70-75. It's spec'd for Tremec manual trans. It did help immensely! Will never be a silky smooth shift but a whole lot better now!

    VFII Smash Repair

From the looks of that, a bit of bog and she'll be right.... Seriously, your insurance company's adjuster is likely to want to view and evaluate as it's not a run of the mill vehicle. Depending on your policy you may have the right to choose your own repairer. I feel your pain having had...

Thanks very much for the info Phil. Just what I was looking for! I'm cammed as well and very happy with the Hurricane system including headers.will look into it. Cheers!

    3 inch xforce catback system

Hi kleanphi, do you have any experience with the Varex bimodal mufflers, or heard them? I'm running a headers back 3" full Hurricane system on my modified 6.0L VF Ute and while the sound is great at idle and on song, it's quite noisy idling up our neighborhood street which is on a 30 degree...

    Oil serperator/ Catch can

Interesting read and thanks all for the good input. I note the Flashlube catch Can Pro doesn't get a mention. Given easy availability here in Oz I though it may have. Any reason - good/bad/ugly? TIA

DOD (Displacement On Demand) system in NSW Highway Patrol Cars

As the heads require removal to fit the DoD kit, there is an option---- have some head work done to offset the cost since they have to be pulled anyway. I looked at this but decided against it as I do't spend much time above 5k on the tach.

DOD (Displacement On Demand) system in NSW Highway Patrol Cars

Hi Ross, I just had air/cam/exhaust work dome on my 2015 L77 engine. The L77's in Australia do not have the DoD system activated. If you do cam work in future you will need a DoD delete kit installed as well as accompanying lifters. I'm sure the more experienced members here can...

    SV6 Ute Exhaust Reccomendations

From a new member to a new member G'day... I have a mate who put J pipes on a VF S2 Ute - Personally I didn't think the sound was very good at all and that was on a 6.2L motor.... Your results may vary! Hard to go past a good open flow muffler for better sound IMO.
