VF AC cutting in/out when braking

Did you have the recirculate option selected? One thing I don't like with the Commodore is that the recirc option automatically turns on the air conditioning. Stupid Holden logic.

    Radiator Replacement.

I did not bother with OEM as I figured the problem would just happen again (seems to be a common issue), so just went with an eBay radiator. No issues so far. If it happens again with the eBay cheapie, it was only half the price of the OEM radiator.

    Brand of radiator

Jack and remove the panel under the car which covers the radiator and take a look. I couldn't see much from the top but there was coolant everywhere underneath. I was slowly losing coolant though. Could smell it when hot also.

    Brand of radiator

I wouldn't get genuine/OEM again on the off chance that it happens again. It's a fairly common issue (happened to me also).

    2013 SV6 going through coolant

Don't know about the V6s, but the V8 radiators are known to leak. When mine leaked, there was nothing on the ground, but take the front splash guard off and could see coolant on the bottom tank and could smell it when hot. EDIT - Sorry just read that you had recently replaced the radiator.

    VF brake/clutch fluid

Yeah, if you go under a car often enough and can afford it then they are handy to have. I don't think it saves time jacking a car (I usually double/triple check that the jacking pads will hit the correct spots) but both sides going up at once feels safer than putting the car on jack stands one...

    VF brake/clutch fluid

I did it on a QuickJack which is effectively the height of jack stands. Would be much less awkward on a hoist.

    VF brake/clutch fluid

I have used a manual vacuum bleeder (Mityvac) and a compressor based bleeder (the Toledo one you linked) to flush and bleed my clutch fluid. It's tight and uncomfortable but if I can do it, then anyone can. The Mityvac was hard to maintain vacuum pressure in such an awkward position and the...

    Leaking Radiator

I went through radiator replacement in April this year and went eBay plastic special. Fitted up fine and not leaking (yet). I didn't bother going with OEM thinking they'd just leak again in 5-6 years. I paid $255 for my eBay special .. so under half of OEM cost. $300 for labour (which also...

Are VE and VF V8 Radiators Interchangeable? All Alloy Radiator

Thanks.. I decided against it and went for this which was advertised to fit: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/402456568265 It looks like it has the AC condenser mounts so hopefully it will just all bolt in and lasts longer than the OEM one.

Are VE and VF V8 Radiators Interchangeable? All Alloy Radiator

I've always had a slow loss of coolant for awhile and it looks like its the radiator, as the bottom of my radiator core appears to be wet today, and is starting to rust (see pic). Looking on eBay, there is this listing (https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/122898973245) which states it fits "Commodore...

Engine mounts, radiators and A/C fans

Hmm I might have something similar.. can smell something when hot and the overflow bottle ever so slowly drops level, but I can't see any dry coolant on the engine anywhere. Can the shroud be unattached and moved in place to see the weep without pulling it all apart?

Oil changes on cars in storage or driven rarely

Obtain a sample when you're changing the oil and send it in for analysis if you're worried, but unless the oil is black and thick, I highly doubt there's any sludge. https://www.engineoiltest.com.au/product/oil-test-kit/

    SS-V $59999 ?

At $33K which is what I bought at, it was a decent enough proposition ... at $60K it's not quite the same.

VF seats , uncomfortable. And wanting to upgrade ..

Drivers side yes, passenger side will bolt in, but there is no power. You'll need an auto electrician to wire in some power for the passenger electrics to work.

Vf2 SSV Redline Carbon Build Up

SIDI is direct injection, where fuel is injected directly into the combustion chamber, so the intake valves are not sprayed with any fuel unlike a port injected engine which washes the back of the intake valves, preventing any carbon (from EGR or PCV) from building up in the first place. Newer...

Vf2 SSV Redline Carbon Build Up

Heavy build up where? On the intake valves? Being port injected there shouldn't much, if any on the intake valves. Unlikely that any OTS fuel additive would do any better than a premium fuel.

Diff oil - needs change or not ?

Not too hard of a DIY job if you have something to pump it in.

VF GTS 2013 - Fan noise on. after exiting car. causing car not to start. battery flat.

I haven't watched your video, but have you had the AC running? Could it be the after blow feature? Shouldn't flatten the battery though if it was. See this pdf for the conditions where afterblow should activate if it's enabled in your car (it is a dealer setting, not in MyLink)...

Losing radiator coolent on VF Evoke .

I thought that a radiator cap which is rated lower won't leak, the spring will open at a lower pressure and the overflow bottle will fill at the lower pressure.

    Novated leasing vf ssv redline

An expensive car in my opinion is the worst car to lease, given 20% of the price of the car needs to be contributed per year in after tax funds. The more expensive the car, the higher this after tax contribution is, and less is salary sacrificed. A cheaper car which might even cost more to run...

Changing fluids on a VFII LS3

Clutch fluid is the same as brake fluid, I did brakes and clutch with a vacuum bleeder, clutch is just a bit fiddly due to location, hard to get and maintain vacuum to keep air out. My heart sank when I dropped the car onto the ground and the pedal went to the floor, but pumped the pedal and it...

VF 2 SSVR Clicking Drivers Seat

Order one, or two of part number 13584324 depending on how many powered seats you have, was less than $8 each from the dealer. SSVR should require just the one for the driver. Install yourself and don't have to worry about Holden service department or warranty. Less hassles IMO. Installation...

    Seat change over

If going Calais into a SS, you will need an auto sparky to power up the passenger side.

    Seat change over

All the seats out of a VF should be interchangeable .. many have put HSV seats into VFs even (including me).

    remove front seats

Maybe, but I think it's more aXX covering than anything. I didn't unplug the battery. I might have unplugged the loom first before unbolting the seat, if the seat had anything which holds a charge, it would naturally discharge once disconnected anyway. The auto sparky also I don't believe...

    K&N air intake

The VF factory intake snorkel is rectangular .. how much room is there to add a second intake? In any case, the K&N unit will require disconnection of the "sound enhancer". Only the XAIR OTR supports it as an option without any modification that I know of.

VXDIAG Diagnostic Tool with GDS2 SW

Yep VMs would also be an option. I got plenty of old hardware and HDDs so went that way.

VXDIAG Diagnostic Tool with GDS2 SW

I believe I finally activated the afterblow function, haven't tested it yet, but it initially read as Off in GDS2 and now reads as On every time I check it. For anyone who looks at this thread in the future, here are some pointers in getting the 2019.04 SW to install and run properly: 1) I...

VXDIAG Diagnostic Tool with GDS2 SW

Thanks for the feedback, as long as I can get after blow enabled, then I'm at least at equal value of taking it to a dealer. Any diagnostic use after that is a bonus! I have a 2016 model but yeah, it's an important note for other VF owners who may be thinking of doing the same.
  37. L

VXDIAG Diagnostic Tool with GDS2 SW

Yeah, no issues finding the dongle, I've even found a copy of the SW online, so might download it and see if I can see any VF related things in any config files.. just was wondering if someone had already tried this before and connected an eBay dongle and dodgy GDS2 software onto their VF and it...

    VF driver seat base CLICKING

Those clips look loose. Mine required a fair amount of pressure to fit on, and they don't flap about like that. A cable tie on tight ensures that it won't come undone in the future.
