    Legal wheel spacers?

Exactly no worse than wider wheels without RE speccing the offset. Like everybody does. Not as much overal. wear as say lowering to sssl or large wheel dia. Should replace wheel bearings with every second rotor swap, cheap anyway.

    Gdi plus pfi injection

Direct injection in GM speak is SIDI, the fifth V8 engine generation called EcoTec3 is SIDI, but the head doesn’t fit our fourth generation engines. At all. The advantage if any is at high compression under load, better control at lower temperatures for emissions, not really performance as you...

2015 VF SS-V - camming and exhaust question

He has an L77, doesn’t need to remove AFM, just widen his shopping outside the single brand cam supplier that his mate reckons. There’s dozens of AFM cams to suit the L77, all characteristics including long life lumpy lobes up to 600 HP. Thing is VCM is still pushing 20 year old cathedral head...

    E85 Issues...

Absolutely. As it is running OK just engine light then I’d clear the light, basically will be really good once you get the ~30l closer to 10l. At that point you can load it up 1200-4500 and observe the torque difference without harm. Of course flashing a proper tune for it makes a massive...

    E85 Issues...

No because it is running lean. Not dangerously lean if you don’t load it up under part throttle. It won’t knock, which is the main thing. Just mainly sparking too late down low, not enough fuel, spitting out the headers, backfiring through cats.
  6. rognvald261

    E85 Issues...

You can run e85 in a VE / VF V8 with a tune, or any mix of e85 and petrol with a sensor and a tune. It will not harm your car but yeah will have trouble working out how to run properly.
  7. rognvald261

    E85 Issues...

Wow, how much did you put in? L98 is not e85 compatible, most you can trial is about 10l per tank.

    My Holden days are numbered

@426Cuda there’s a stock market mechanism “falling price, falling quantity” (FPFQ) that aptly describes what has happened to the G8 and affects the SS in the US. FPFQ is now a pejorative term used frequently on the Pontiac G8 group or VF Motorsport on FaceBook, portent of things to come  If...

    Legal wheel spacers?

Doesn’t matter who says it, all above brake and suspension mods are illegal unless approved. Most non-stock big wheels, big brake, or lowered look cars are illegal too. The notion that one modification is more illegal than others is covered within the certification framework. As above, you can...

    Legal wheel spacers?

About as illegal as fitting 10”+ wide rims or any rims with less than 36mm offset, or 20” or higher rims, airbags or sssl springs or possibly the 6-4 Brembos on your variant (not sure, there is a 50+ page thread on it). See the thing is none of the above is allowed without approval. An engineer...

    Reset Oil Life Not Working

Accelerator pedal position sensor, yes it is a V6, maybe it has one of those stupid toys to trick you into thinking the car goes faster?

    problems after big exhaust leak

Here’s some reading from a couple of years back.

    problems after big exhaust leak

Aha! Found it. Short answer is that the air coming from the back of the filter is unmetered, bypasses the MAF entirely. It needs to tap into the stream post MAF. There are plenty of detailed explanations and arguments but bottom line it was a major problem discovered by Livernois in the US with...

    problems after big exhaust leak

Also @Johnathan1111 do you have catch can or maybe taken the injectors out to inspect lately?
  15. rognvald261

    problems after big exhaust leak

Generally a dirty MAF will cause lean condition, and bad O2 sensors go rich. So if 100% that int and exh sensors are good and correct then recheck pipes and tubes near throttle body like the evap solenoid circuit. Also your MAP sensor is push-in type, worth a look. Still no luck then reset Long...

    problems after big exhaust leak

Which Denso 02 sensors exactly? Perhaps you have the wrong part? Best replacement is Bosch EGO106BOS.2 BTW GM part 12569429 is apparently stamped Denso as OEM, part 213-1568.

What year is your VF with injectors issue?

Ok thanks, just trying to find a logical break point at which GM started using the new injectors probe to failure. Can you provide some more detail?
  18. rognvald261

What year is your VF with injectors issue?

Thank you. Yes I just read “the move was made late 2014 with a minor update to the Commodore for cars sold as the 2015 Model Year.” That, is more likely the start of the problematic Bosch injector model 02 801582 74 as it ties in with the defective population in the poll / thread reports. It...

What year is your VF with injectors issue?

It would make sense that the injector change coincided with the change to drop e85 compatibility with MY2014 of which the model run started October 2013?

    remove ve fuel tank

R&R the fuel tank is time consuming, Holden quote same time as replacing the camshaft (10 hours). BTW I am not Dirk, the pir4te who became the monstar of JC. I understand he offended a friend of a moderator in a message by using a vulgar word (he used a word phonetically similar to “truckbit” to...

    Fuel injector failure

Can anyone confirm that the Series II does indeed use injectors with part number 02 801582 74 printed on it, per the Series I?

    Fuel injector failure

Just read “bent pushrod” on a factory motor with hydraulic lifters and low ramp cam... nup. Did you have the rockers replaced per chance?

    Holden ve ss 6.0

Need to plug a tool in the diagnostic port, I assume you don’t have one, so when it was running what did you observe / hear / smell / feel different apart from the light on the dash?
  24. rognvald261

What year is your VF with injectors issue?

That is a good question, not VE that I have heard, no. It started in 2013 according to @Wayne001. Seems is not just a bad batch, appears a manufacturing or design fault as there were few if any reports prior to the revised (0280158274) injectors fitted to the first of the VF V8.
  25. rognvald261

What year is your VF with injectors issue?

I think a point may be the injector failure problem started with VE, in the 2013 L77. In other words it is unclear whether the issue is VF only. It is clear that it affects later L77 and LS3.
  26. rognvald261

    Fuel injector failure

Thanks for that, just trying to nail down the break when the (non-failing) injectors were revised from 12576341 to (failing) 12639221. Seems it was 2013 model year, assuming your old injectors are same?
  27. rognvald261

    Fuel injector failure

OK, I think Bosch make the injectors just like the spark leads and O2 sensors, NGK make the plugs, Cloyes make the timing gear, Delphi makes the lifters, etc. I think they are all available though AC Delco, which used to be a division of GM like Mopar or Motorcraft. Can you tell me the date...

What year is your VF with injectors issue?

My car is 2011 VE e85, 375k km same injectors, made by Bosch not Siemens.
  29. rognvald261

    Fuel injector failure

I skimmed through, but did not see the part number of the injectors by Siemens? All L76, L98, LS3, L77 and LS7 are made by Bosch, GM part number 12576341, never heard any complaints with several hundreds of thousands of km heavy duty. Bosch ID# 0280158051 42#

Any more info / link to the issue?

    remove ve fuel tank

Ah yes you’re right. Was detailed how-to by @monstar but moderators deleted all his pics and videos, most of his posts, same with @PIR4TE. What info is left are broken links to deleted media. That’ll teach him I guess o_O

Also threads here about making an access portal for all cars after 2007.

VE Fuel System - fails to start first crank after sitting for a while,

Oh and BTW the easy way to access the fuel pump is under the back seat, a couple of write-ups but yeah only takes an hour or so no need to drop the tank etc.
  34. rognvald261

VE Fuel System - fails to start first crank after sitting for a while,

I’d monitor Fuel Rail Pressure maybe log a bit to determine correlation between crank commanded spike as I’m pretty sure cranking fuel pressure should be 475 for example, more under certain circumstances. I’m guessing after cool down (FRP goes ballistic just after hot run) switch IGN on it...
  35. rognvald261

VE Fuel System - fails to start first crank after sitting for a while,

No, it is not the correct one. All fricken V8 autos had AFM from 2009. That’s not what defines your pump, rather that it is same as ZL1 or GTS LSA to output +30% more volume as the L77 is factory flex fuel (e85) vehicle. Standard pump won’t work, as above, easier to replace it than reprogram ECU...
  36. rognvald261

    Can the Cam?

Well is a massive duration, not needed unless you’re racing upper mid to upper. Likely a handful cruising.
  37. rognvald261

VE Fuel System - fails to start first crank after sitting for a while,

Car is never going to run right (you would need to re-flash a downgraded OS to both the ECU tune and firmware in the Fuel Pump Command Module). Pump needs to come out. If it were me I'd consider future proofing with DeatschWerks DW400 direct swap, ~$280. Then at any later stage you can up the...
  38. rognvald261

VE Fuel System - fails to start first crank after sitting for a while,

Yep that pump is one size fits all 06-13, where your car (Series II L77) is programmed to use the high volume e85 pump per LSA engines. Definitely incompatible. Is like the ones on eBay for $95 that fit 2006 V6 through e85 V8... GM part 19260557 is correct.

    Hsv bimodal intake

I think you could knock out the same piece in the OEM airbox snout to same effect or am I missing something?
  40. rognvald261

VE Fuel System - fails to start first crank after sitting for a while,

Do you have the exact part number that was installed? What year and month is your S2? Did you install yourself?
