  1. VZ SV6 REBUILD

    Vibration at 40kmh solved

I did a few mods to the motor and it goes hard but it still NA so not massive amounts of power. 90% of the time I have my kids in the car so it doesn't get driven very hard too often. I will admit that there was a few 0-160+ runs when I first built it

    Vibration at 40kmh solved

Hi all, 3yrs ago I replaced my Centre bearing with an eBay special. A few months later a vibration started, hardly noticeable, only under load and only at 40kmh. First thing I checked was the centre bearing. It looked fine, shaft felt solid. All other mounts uni's etc checked ok. As I said...

    Rear suspension subframe alignment?

Well spotted, seems an obvious oversight, for the sake of a few mm's of metal :(

    Rear suspension subframe alignment?

Hi, just wondering how the diff mount is going? Was it worth it, any problems etc. I'm thinking about putting one under my SV6, cheers.

    Headlight restoration

Nope, no sealant, just Acetone. I thought no sealant might make it fade quickly but 15 months and still looks as good as the day I did them

    Headlight restoration

Hey guys, for a brilliant finish (and just 30 secs work) use Acetone and paper towel. You can sand them first if you like but seriously the finish will be just as good without it. The process is simple Clean headlights (optional) Pour Acetone liberally onto paper towel With a single smooth...

    Yet another VZ starting issue

Hi Flash, I had the exact same issue with my 05 vz sv6, the problem is the ECU. A guy on Ebay repaired mine, 5 yr warranty for $330. Just remove the ECU, post it to him. I had mine back in a week and a half, problem solved. No more ridiculous fuel warnings and starter works every time.

Urgent help with ly7 vz timing chains from mace!!!!

Lol, no amount of diesel oil was ever going to remove the build up in mine, I had no idea it was that bad. In my case the only solution is to strip it down and physically clean it.

Urgent help with ly7 vz timing chains from mace!!!!

It wasn't cheap, but that doesn't matter, with the volume of crap that was in the engine NO cleaner was ever gonna be able to do its job. As for diesel, if I had NO other option then yes I would use it. It has lubricating and cleaning properties.

    VE alloytec manifold

I know this is an old thread but I'm interested in your results. I'm rebuilding a SV6 and in the process of doing the heads and manifolds.

Urgent help with ly7 vz timing chains from mace!!!!

I think the engine cleaner did more harm than good. All it did was loosen up the crap and allow to circulate and block oil passages etc, there was just too much of it to remove. Luckily it only lasted a week after the engine cleaner or I think it would have ended up with a lot more damage.

Urgent help with ly7 vz timing chains from mace!!!!

Not a lot, and yet it still lasted over 300k. Up until the last couple of days it still ran smooth and idled normal, though it had been losing power for a while. The idle only got rough after I put some engine cleaner through it, WAY TOO LITTLE TOO LATE I'm afraid.

Im a single dad on centerlink, I hear ya pain. How bad was the "sludge"? Mine started as a rattle too, then one day it wouldnt start. I had the same plan as you but found that my chains had slipped and bent 6 inlet valves so it turned into a complete rebuild. just as well cos it was absolutely...
