Optional Police brakes ( pad replacement )

For VF series 1, standard size(321mm) but T2 slotted rotors, standard PBR dual piston calipers and higher spec pads front only, rear brakes standard. For VF series 2, larger 344mm discs with Mando single piston calipers and larger, higher spec pads, plus different master cylinder. Earlier in...

Optional Police brakes ( pad replacement )

I did a search for the Mando calipers on eBay itself and Google more widely. The eBay site that has them is sold out and I couldn't find anywhere else that offers them. Perhaps a future upgrade but for now, my brakes still need replacing so I'm going with original size slotted rotors and...

Don't you also need the master cylinder?

Optional Police brakes ( pad replacement )

The ones I bought iin error are T3 DBA 4000 series (P/N DBA42078S). Not sure what the difference is, but they are slotted, and they are larger than the discs on the car. It appears the brake upgrade in series ones is just the slotted disc and better pads. IT seems to use the standard PBR calipers.

Optional Police brakes ( pad replacement )

Worth noting that the VF Series 1 police vehicles have standard size discs and pads, but they appear to be a different compound and the discs are the T3 slotted ones. I bought the 345mm ones in error, so if anyone is after a set...

    L77 DOD lifters

I'm told the accepted practice is to remove DOD if you are doing significant engine mods. It eliminates the potential for problems, and you can run a better camshaft profile.

They are 18s. I think the 19s and 20s are significantly more expensive.

vf ssv ugly intake pipe replacement

If you do, get an AFM delete as well. No droning and you have the opportunity to fit a better cam. Might have to save a bit longer but will probably be worthwhile.

vf ssv ugly intake pipe replacement

Is your SSV manual or automatic? If automatic, I'm told the shape of the intake is designed to damp out the droning noise generated when the AFM is operating during part throttle cruise. I'd suggest that noise would be way uglier than the stock intake's appearance. If it's a manual, you could...

Have just bought a set of PS4s for my stock SS wheels. $225 per corner, and to paraphrase Kylie Mole, they grip, they grip, they just grip.

VF Radio Changing source on engine stop.

Mine changes back to its original list of FM Sydney stations in favourites within a few days each time I change them. I sometimes listen to my Spotify playlist on my phone via Bluetooth. Sometimes to ABC local radio. If the latter was on when I last switched off the car, that's what I get on...

Current E85 availability list - United

Depends how much water, if it's too much it will separate, which is why using in a boat is bad. With a small amount the ethanol acts like a detergent. I have used E10 for over a decade in all my cars and have never had a feel related issue with any of them.

Current E85 availability list - United

In a boat, it's problem. In a car, it's beneficial. An old bushie's trick was to out a cupful of metho in the fuel tank because it mixes with water and still burns, where petrol alone does not. It stops the water from sitting unmixed in the tank and building up.

Your choice of course, but based on common misconceptions and totally unnecessary
  19. Ross Wonderley

Current E85 availability list - United

Not true at all. E10 is fine. The rubbers used in Holden's fuel system are designed for E10 and ethanol in any concentration won't harm them. The only reason you can't use e85 is because the sensor that detects ethanol content is not installed, and your engine will run lean.

Current E85 availability list - United

Obviously, but the poster above asked about ethanol eating seals and hoses without specifying E10 or e85. I made it quite clear that E10 is ok for all VE & VF, which it is. It 's been established further up that e85 in later engines is not. I wanted to get ahead of any claims that E10 is...

Yes if your car is not designed for it. VE and VF Commodores run quite happily on E10 and have compatible materials in the fuel system.

I think you can use e85 in the L77 in early VFs (2013, 2014). From 2015 (like mine) they left out the necessary sensor, I guess figuring noone would notice. At 1.79/litre and worse fuel consumption noone was bothering and they saved a few dollars per unit leaving the sensor out.

DOD (Displacement On Demand) system in NSW Highway Patrol Cars

I've heard as much. A DOD delete will figure into any mods I might do down the track, but If DOD is already not there by virtue of government spec, I'd save ~$1000 or so.

Do you have an after market exhaust or intake? I've heard these can make that drone happen. The stock system is designed to damp it out.

DOD (Displacement On Demand) system in NSW Highway Patrol Cars

Not that I've seen. Mine is different from standard slightly, but it has three groups of info. First one is the usual stuff, speed, (in my case) captured speed, which retains the speed you were doing when you push the end of the stalk with speed showing on the display, average speed, trip...

DOD (Displacement On Demand) system in NSW Highway Patrol Cars

I think you'll find the Auto ones have it enabled normally, (referred to as AFM by Holden)according to a brochure I have for MY15. Manual ones don't have it enabled and have a different cam that gives 270kW instead of 260kW. The engine in mine is definitely an L77 according to the VIN plate.

DOD (Displacement On Demand) system in NSW Highway Patrol Cars

Hi all, I have a VF SS series 1 sedan with the L77 engine that in a former life was a NSW highway patrol car (verified by front page in the logbook, as well as minor holes in trim and bodywork and stuff like that). I'm aware of the upsides and downsides of this, however mine has been trouble...

    VF Calais electric Window Problem

If it's the window that you use the most, it's possible that the brushes in the motor are worn or dirty. I had a different car with this issue, pulled the motor out and cleaned the brushes and it worked again- for a while.
