    SV6 slight miss at idle

I recently had a slight miss in my VZ Alloytec at idle and the problem was a small air leak at the inlet manifold. New seal fixed it.

Climate control not working after battery change

More bad news! didn't know that... So it won't last as along? Doesn't seem to have any issue starting up.

Climate control not working after battery change

I'm real irritated by the indicator problem - wasn't an issue before dealership tested the HVAC
  4. wagon37

Climate control not working after battery change

Yes, this is what I had when I tried to start it. Has clearly cooked the HVAC Never again!
  5. wagon37

Climate control not working after battery change

Oh and I've also noticed since collecting it from the dealership that the indicators have an arrythmia. Run okay most of the time but then occasionally skip a beat, stutter etc. don't even know how that could be possible... REAL annoying

Climate control not working after battery change

The work hasn't happened yet... waiting for the new module to come from over East.. but yeah $875 is the all up price. (accidentally typed $835 earlier). Can keep the cooked module if anyone wants to take a look at it (I lack the time or expertise myself). But yeah won't be doing a DIY...

Climate control not working after battery change

Took it to the dealership who found HVAC module was dead. $835 for diagnostics, new HVAC, labour... ...expensive battery change.

Climate control not working after battery change

Yeah left the battery disconnected overnight and still didn't come back to life. I installed a Century Hi-Performance DIN53LH MF Reckon I should go for something else before getting the module replaced??

What to soak a camshaft in? [Degreasing]

I've got a camshaft that I would quite like to degrease and place on my coffee table. Already given it a good clean with rags and degreaser but feel like it really needs a soak to get the stuff in the hard to get to places. Struggling to find a suitable implement that is long enough to soak...

Climate control not working after battery change

Yeah, had a feeling I might be up for a trip to the dealer... That said haven't had a chance to try the battery disconnect yet,

    Opening boot with flat battery?

Can confirm I was being particularly stupid not be able to work the manual boot release.. got it sorted. Thanks all for the tips and tricks

Climate control not working after battery change

OK so changed the battery in my VF and started it up - all good except no climate control at all - the panel is completely dead, not even the fan will come on. Tried shutting down and starting up again and no joy. Any ideas?!

    Opening boot with flat battery?

Not the most comfortable operation and annoyed that can't get the manual release working. But yes it is on my mind as an option

    Opening boot with flat battery?

OK will try again later. In the event can't do it will hook up new battery to the posts in the engine bay. For the purpose of just powering it up to open the boot (rather than trying to turn it over), does it matter if I only have 200amp jumper leads? Cheers

    Opening boot with flat battery?

I couldn't do it - pulled the cover off and put the screwdriver in the hole but there is nothing to turn or push or anything. It's just a hole with a small metal clip in it. Or am I being particularly stupid?
  16. wagon37

    Opening boot with flat battery?

ah OK cheers! did see that there but foolishly thought it was something to do with keeping the trim on (it seemed reluctant to come off). Thanks for that
  17. wagon37

    Opening boot with flat battery?

Appreciate all the info so far! Where actually is the manual boot release located? I climbed in there with a screwdriver and then couldn't find it. I have a wagon

"Check Oil" warning during abrupt movements

Appreciate the insights but cannot believe the aspersions being cast about my driving style. Didn't realise utilising the crisp yet sublime and agile dynamics of the VZ would cause issues (!)
  19. wagon37

"Check Oil" warning during abrupt movements

yeah oil level all good - no leaks anywhere that I can see either
  20. wagon37

"Check Oil" warning during abrupt movements

Heavy braking, hard acceleration, tight turn - throws the "check oil" warning. Intermittent nature of the problem suggests it's a sensor issue. Anyone had this before?

    Opening boot with flat battery?

I've got a VF SS wagon with a flat battery - anyone got any ideas on how to open the boot with a flat battery? Assume there must be a mechanical mechanism somewhere to open it Need to get in there to replace the battery!!

    VZ "skipping" under load

Hmm yeah definitely worse uphill. Might throw a new torque converter at it and see what happens...

    Vz sv6 Ute timing chain/issues.

I just bought a VZ with 215,000km that was leaking quite a bit of oil from the timing cover seal. As the cover has to come off to replace the seal and was unsure of the age / condition of the chain, just decided to throw a new chain at it. This guy here will do a new chain for $1,200 - very...

    VZ "skipping" under load

My VZ occasionally skips or stutters under load, usually low speed and more likely when going uphill. Also seems to happen in the final part of slowing down (maybe when it changes down into first gear). Thoughts? more likely to be the diff or transmission? Does change gears no problem

VZ 3.6L Alloytec - Leaking oil from timing cover seal and rocker cover seals

Thanks for the tip mate - much appreciated. Will give him a call
  30. wagon37

VZ 3.6L Alloytec - Leaking oil from timing cover seal and rocker cover seals

It does idle a little high / rough when cold (1,000rpm) and on one occasion the light did come on and it died, but it's fine when up to temperature, so assume that's probably unrelated to the chain? No other indications of chain issue
  31. wagon37

VZ 3.6L Alloytec - Leaking oil from timing cover seal and rocker cover seals

Yeah that's just the quote to take everything off to have a look - not actually fix it They also said if the chain has stretched it might have done damage and a new engine would be required.... must think I came down in the last rain shower?!
  32. wagon37

VZ 3.6L Alloytec - Leaking oil from timing cover seal and rocker cover seals

Yeah OK I see what you mean I had it in at a RAC Service Centre who said oil appeared to be leaking from rocker cover seals and timing cover seals (don't know more than that) They want $590 to remove rocker cover seals and timing cover seal to have a look and then $$ on top of that to repair...
  33. wagon37

VZ 3.6L Alloytec - Leaking oil from timing cover seal and rocker cover seals

you mean not do anything about the leak until the chain throws a code?
  34. wagon37

VZ 3.6L Alloytec - Leaking oil from timing cover seal and rocker cover seals

yeah it's timing cover seal that is leaking (or so it would appear...)

VZ 3.6L Alloytec - Leaking oil from timing cover seal and rocker cover seals

Hi mate - do you know anyone in Perth that would be up for the job? assume a lot of places won't be keen Cheers

VZ 3.6L Alloytec - Leaking oil from timing cover seal and rocker cover seals

Thanks for the info If I am going to have the timing cover off, is it worth replace the chain whilst there? It's done 216,000km - not sure if chain been replaced previously. No signs of any trouble with it
  37. wagon37

VZ 3.6L Alloytec - Leaking oil from timing cover seal and rocker cover seals

Got some oil coming out of the rocker cover seals and timing cover seal. Is there any correlation between the timing cover seal leak and the stretched timing chain issue? or probably just needs a new seal? No evidence to suggest there is anything wrong with the timing chain - what are the...

VZ Commodore [Executive] - Drivers seat moving forward and back when braking / accelerating

Moves maybe half an inch or so under moderating braking and accelerating. Real annoying. Anyone else had this problem? if so is there a solution?? Cheers
