    The SC14 Supercharger Thread

In my experience stock leads and plugs are fine (may need to close the gap a little), you should be able to rig up the CAI with the setup with minimal drama and it would prob be a much better setup than a bare pod imho. FFS what ever you do dont swap your injectors unless you are getting it...

    The SC14 Supercharger Thread

Hey guys this seems like an appropriate place to mention that I will be stripping my SC14 VS ute back to stock(ish) and selling it very shortly. If anyone was interested in building one of these type of setups ill be trying to get rid of the FI gear as its not engineered or anything as is...

    v6 mods where to start

When I first got my current VS ute it had a cam, extractors, CAI, exhaust and some kind of off the shelf "chip" in it and it used to get along ok. My previous car was a VS 5L ute and I dont reckon there was much in it performance wise. Good suspension setup makes a car feel a lot faster in terms...

Hey stocky I cant quite make it out in your photos, where abouts do you run the throttle body is it before or after the charger? Is anyone with with a vn-vr running intercooled with the TB in front of the charger (atmo side)? As far as intakes and such I have been looking at the enclosed...

    The SC14 Supercharger Thread

Noticed something interesting on the weekend, my charger makes aprox. 1psi less boost at about 600m (canberra) then it does at home (sea level). This makes sense when you think about the principle of operation of a roots blower but wasnt something that had occured to me before. Im keen to dyno...

""need help"" own a stocko 3800 vp and wanting to really give it some horsepower

sounds like a tough way to make 180rwkw.........i would antipcipate a lot more than that if done properly (it would want to be too for the ****ing around)

Running MAF tune, in the process of researching whether it might be best to swap to a MAP tune.

    The SC14 Supercharger Thread

Yeah like I said Im pretty confident im not losing any boost, I dont think i'd be making the power if I was losing any decent amount of air. With the TB where it is the intercooler and pipework all sees vaccum too so if there was a leak it would most likely suck air at idle when its not seeing...

    The SC14 Supercharger Thread

The BOV i have in my system doesnt do anything anymore due to the location of the throttle body (in front of the charger) so im reasonably sure there is no leaks or anything. My engine has always shown fairly low boost for whatever pulley size i run, I think it has to do with it being...

quarter mile times for alloytec capa chargers

Just having a bit of a think to myself and was wondering if you have ever looked into using a wastegate setup to allow full boost earlier in the piece rather than only getting full boost at full rpm.

    The SC14 Supercharger Thread

Just a quick update for those interested, had my SC14 intercooled ecotec ute dyno'd yesterdat at autotec in canberra and was reasonably happy with a figure of 202rwkw or 270rwhp which is far more than a lot of "haters" would have you believe the little charger is good for. Will post the sheet...

quarter mile times for alloytec capa chargers

Just re-read your post, so he is running 13.3 on 8.8psi un-tuned? Thats fairly impressive. You should knock up a database of some description with specs of your customers cars, performance details, would make for good reading. What is the highest boost level kit you offer for an alloytec...

quarter mile times for alloytec capa chargers

Yeah sorry the 20k comment was in regard to building an engine that could handle LOADS of boost to run quick times. I take it that the 13.3 was ran on 8.8psi? What sort of power figures, torque, 0-100 and quarter mile times are you seeing from your alloytec kits and how long til you...

    The SC14 Supercharger Thread

in regards to flanges I just made a template from my TB and had a local fabrication place knock one up out of 8mm or so plate and weld it onto my pipework (i think its aluminium). Cost me stuff all and heaps easier than butchering TBs but if you have spares........

    The SC14 Supercharger Thread

Yeah i'd come to the same conclusion......got a bit excited last night when i thought we might be on to something, but no I failed again. What about guys running say a buik engine (MAP) with TB pre charger and intercooled, are they running ok? Whats the easiest way to go a MAP tune - is it...

    The SC14 Supercharger Thread

Hmmmm I hearby retract one of my earlier statements, it doesnt run perfectly with the charger not driving and the intercooler connected. It is a lot smoother but still want to stall and carry on when using the engine to brake and then coming to a halt. What I believe happens is that the TB...

    The SC14 Supercharger Thread

I would say the problem is most defenitely related to the volume of air between the charger/TB and the engine as mine runs fine if i run as per a standard CRS setup with no cooler and associated pipework with the TB pre charger. It also runs fine with the cooler connected and the charger not...

    The SC14 Supercharger Thread

what sort of cross sectional area would a bypass valve need to be in order to have the desired effect? Would it be possible to use an electric solenoid sort of valve setup running off a microswitch on the TB so that when its at idle it opens and equalises pressure across the blower? (just a...

What about a diagram showing the pricipal of operation......ive tried to google it and it keeps coming up BOVs
  20. bundysmurf

    The SC14 Supercharger Thread

Yeah what mine does is it "flares" on startup as the air is sucked out of the pipework and the only way i can get it to idle is to crack the TB open a little with the screw which results in a high idle. The major propblem appears to be incorrect operation of the IAC which "over reacts" and...

    The SC14 Supercharger Thread

hmmm could it be that easy, it sems to run ok when the charger is not being driven (ie pulley is freewheeling) so i would think its a possibility. Sorry to hijack the thread somewhat but where can i get one and has anyone else had success doing this?

    The SC14 Supercharger Thread

Are any of you guys running the TB pre intercooler? If so does it run ok, I have had a snatch of atime getting mine to behave even with a tune etc. I believe I am having the same dramas the factory super charged guys have when fitting an air to air intercooler and they all seem the go to a MAP...

quarter mile times for alloytec capa chargers

Been doing a little bit of research for my next toy and looking at the options available for the alloyec, specifically the VE ute. The power figures obtained seem pretty respectable but I havnt seen much about what sort of 0-100 and quarter mile times they are capable of. I have noticed...

    VS ute handling issues

yeah well it could well be something like that. I suppose that would result in the back end moving in relation to the front wheels wouldnt it. VS ute handling issues

I have had ongoing issues with the handling of my VS ute. Getrag strengthening

Mind you a stock 5l wouldnt put a huge amount of load on a box. I run a standard flywheel (just had it machined cause its got HEAPS of kms on it) and my clutch is actually an ebay heav duty v8 one which I have been absolutely stoked with. I think it cost like $180 (or was it $320 not...

    Getrag strengthening

Is the getrag the 5 speed box behind the V6 in VS models? If so mine has been handling 200rwkw and 560nm for a couple of years now (285000km on the clock) with no dramas and thats with a bit of towing and quite a few 0-100 and 400m runs.

    Intercooling SC14?

Mines an ecotec too, its running 190rwkw with 6.5 psi tuned and intercooled, the tune made huge difference so maybe thats where the "unexpected" gains come from. I assume the VR motor would have fairly similar potential???

    v6 mafless tune

Kalmaker is what is used to retune standard computers in vs commodores (and others) I take it? Is the process described using an ecotec computer with a MAP sensor instead of MAF or is it still a case of converting to a VR style ECU?

    Is this possible??? (Tuning Question)

    Ecotec MAF sensor limitation

Im running an sc14 intercooled front mount A2A with the MAF after the inter cooler at about 6.5psi with the throtle body in front of the charger. I had never really looked at some of the problems experienced by L67 running A2A coolers but it seems I am having the same sort of issues. What...
