VF S2 or ZB, what to buy

I had a new windscreen put into my VXR after the original was cracked by an acorn sized rock. The glass place asked me what driving aids are in my car, I replied, "all of them." ;) They did a great job too, everything works fine, no complaints from me and it was all paid for by insurance so...

VF S2 or ZB, what to buy

I have never tried to turn it off. Adaptive cruise is a bit weird at first but once you get used to it you don't go back.

Transitioning from a Commodore to an EV

Have you noticed any changes in the efficiency of the batteries so far? While it is reasonable to expect that the total battery capacity will slowly decline over time, what about the mileage in terms of kwh/100km?

    Second hand ZB's

I considered a 2016 Insignia VXR back in 2018. Tech was dated, 239kw and 435nm might have been good back in 2016 but it is only 0.2 sec faster 0-100 as my atmo ZB, drinks a lot more premium fuel (like 20% more), has less internal space and weighs 40kg more so the extra torque advantage is...

I have one question. Did Australian VXRs get powered hatches? Because NZ certainly didn't get them!

That might have been me. The wheels were way out of alignment and I didn't notice till it was too late.

Not as standard, but there is a thread on this forum somewhere about after an market mod Not automatically, you either press the button the drivers door or press and hold the lock button on the remote to fold them in Replaced the rear drive unit under warranty, and a rear seat belt but that was...

    The beginning of the end

They cannot be rotated front to rear or vice versa because they are 275/35/19 on the front and 285/30/20 on the rear. I've seen a photo of a modded car in Europe which has 20"s with 285s all round. Looks very nice on a 20mm lowering kit, but scraping your carbon fibre splitter on a speed bump...

    The beginning of the end

All you RWD purists can rejoice because the M XDrive allows you to disconnect the front axle from the driveshaft, turn all the driver aids off, and melt your 285 section rear Michelins into the road professionally supervised skidpan to your hearts content.

    The beginning of the end

I'll say this. Your VXR while not perfect is still a great piece of kit and incredible value for money since Holden sold them at a loss. I had to spend a large chunk of change to find something better. Enjoy it.

    The beginning of the end

I thought I would waste bandwidth give you guys a recap of my car search to replace my trusty 2018 VXR. Mechanically the only thing that has gone wrong with it was the rear diff leak defect which was repaired. It has developed an annoying rattle in the dash somewhere near the HUD gap behind...

What to buy to replace the ZB?

Sorry not sorry for the thread necro but this is as good a place as any to post this: For me, the time has come to start thinking about replacing my car. My budget has gone up by a shitload because there is nothing and I repeat, nothing in the same price range that provides similar bang for...

CarPlay Issue? 20 sec delay to change songs

I have a similar age car to yours and also run wired Car Play. I've never had a delay that long, sometimes its maybe 4-5 seconds. Is your version of iOS up to date? How old is your phone?

mismatched Tires on AWD ZB's... thoughts and opinions?

I am currently running Michelin PS4S on the rear and PSSS on the front and I don't have any problems. My car had it's diff issues when it had PSSS on all 4 corners so it cannot be tyre related.

Anyone managed to update GPS data yet?

Personally I wish it firmed up the steering weight a little but unfortunately it doesn't. But it's not that big a deal and you get used to it.

VXR mode adjusts the shift map, adaptive damper settings and adaptive cruise control response. I haven't noticed any change in steering response.

PTU and rear Diff fluid for VXR

Ebbett Hamilton replaced my RDU and did a fluid flush, my car was recalled so it's something they will have performed a few times.

Anyone managed to update GPS data yet?

I asked about a GPS update in early 2020 between the COVID lockdowns when I was getting my car serviced, the Holden Service Centre said there wasn't one available. Haven't bothered to ask since.

What to buy to replace the ZB?

The first gen ones were dry clutched and liked to eat themselves from the inside out. They were also effectively a single unit replacement, so were not cheap to maintain or repair. I know someone who spent $14k fixing their VW after it's DSG lunched itself. Despite wet clutch DSGs seeming to...

What to buy to replace the ZB?

I've started casually looking too because I want to replace my ZB next year. In terms of ICE touring sedans there is the Stinger then you have to go high end Euro. I didn't like the Stinger GT when I drove one in 2019, and I doubt Kia would have bothered to invest money fixing that shitbox...

    Question about VXR low beam

What to buy to replace the ZB?

The concept of the Stinger is a grand tourer, all well and good. So why on Earth did Kia match that awesome V6TT engine with a slushbox out of a limo? Poor response/kickdown, a lack of any real manual mode as the box reverts back to auto very quickly, the sport mode doesn't hold gears...

Yes I did notice chunks coming out of the front tyres grooves. But you can also see from the attached photo the belts starting to show through the sidewall after some pretty nasty scrubbing. All due to a poor alignment.

    Tyres

So I just replaced the last original pair of Michelin Pilot Super Sports after 33000km - the first pair needed replacing early due to a excessive wear from a poor alignment (so make sure you get them aligned regularly folks - it will save you money!). Not too bad for a super sticky set of...

    V6 performance upgrade?

It's mainly a space issue. The chassis was designed for a traverse 2.0L 4 cylinder engine and they only just managed to squeeze in an atmo V6 to please Buick and Holden's request for a larger engine for their respective markets. There is no additional room in the engine bay for a turbo or...

What to buy to replace the ZB?

The whole thing about car manufacturers like BMW moving to features as a service in their vehicles is worrying too. Not sure I want to look at owning Euro's if they go down this road. Something about paying 6 figures up front only to be extorted monthly fees to use features I've already paid...

What to buy to replace the ZB?

Since I think Elon Musk is a total nut case and I wouldn't trust him with a cent of my money, I'll probably be looking elsewhere, at something like this when I sell my VXR: It'll probably have a mid $100k-$200k price tag but if anyone can make an EV drive right, Hyundai can, and the first...
