    My new ride!

Baby is going to be going in for a bit of a service, figured I'd get started on some of the simpler mods while I'm at it. Went to my MACE 'shopping list' and rang up new spark plugs, coils, and an Oil Filter. Not much, I know, but gotta start somewhere right? Not expecting much of anything in...

    Alternator

Whatever you do, DO NOT get an Auto8 like I did... The first one didn't last a full month. The replacement (which they sent completely free, also coving all postage - so the 'service' at least was very good) *is* going fine... But I'm probably never going to trust it. ~JD

VX Berlina - aftermarket tail lights

The 'heading' say a fair bit already, but the is more to it as well. I'm not just talking about the tail-lights themselves (thinking a set of those nice LED Alteza types). The question is - what about the boot facia lights? Now, first off, I actually like that they are there, so ditching them...

    Battery going flat QUICK

Well... I might have been calling them direct and leaning on them a bit... Mentioning that it failed mid delivery-driver shift and that I'll be missing multiple additional shifts. Might have them scared about being sued for 'lost earnings' or something... (It'd have to be an extreme case before...

    Battery going flat QUICK

They have at least sent (by Email) a postage docket to put on the box, that is 'payment not required', so yeah - There is that at least!

    Battery going flat QUICK

You guys DID warn me about the Auto8 brand Alternators... My battery died AGAIN last night (mid-shift), and when RACV finally arrived an hour later, it was discovered the the pulley-wheel was completely seized... That I didn't notice until the battery died means it likely seized up as much as a...

    Battery going flat QUICK

Well, it was only happening on the initial 'test start', when I actually drove it and had the mechanic double-check my work, it was gone, and he gave me the thumbs up on the whole job. Took it for a short drive out of town (just far enough to get out into the 100Kph zone, so I could wind her...

    Battery going flat QUICK

ITS IN! Battery has been re-charged (again) too. I do have one last question though, and I *hope* I've already correctly guessed the answer, but: - Is it normal for there to be an excess of unusual noise while a new Alternator is 'settling in'? Specifically any sort of loud, fast repetitive...

    Battery going flat QUICK

The 'Cactus' state of the Alternator has already been confirmed - A fully charged battery lasting less than a week was all the confirmation I needed. Now, TBF, I don't know *exactly* what is wrong with it, true... But I'm a delivery driver right now, and I don't have a lot of time to piss-fart...

    Battery going flat QUICK

Westona itself wasn't too bad... Not that it matters to me, *I* live up in Bendigo.

    Battery going flat QUICK

Well... It *was* off Ebay - but it said it has warranty for 5 years, sooo... ~JD

    Battery going flat QUICK

I bought it from a couple in Altona (that beach suburb of SW Melbourne), so yeah, a bit of salt in the air there-abouts... ^^; ~JD

    Battery going flat QUICK

The battery wasn't the problem, they (Autobarn) put it on their charger overnight, and if anything its OVER-performing standard specs. And its not likely the spark-plugs and leads either, because when I have power, everything runs fine. End result, I scored a brand new 'Auto8' Alternator of...

    Battery going flat QUICK

The battery is a "SuperPower Silver Plus", from supercheap Auto (30 month warranty, not that matters at not yet even 3 full months old). The Alternator itself appears to be a factory spec, but I don't think its original either, looks like it came second-hand from a wrecker... It also seems to...

    Battery going flat QUICK

I just replaced my battery with a brand new one from the shop at the end of October (maybe early November) last year, and now, I've just had it go flat... Probably the alternator if its going completely flat THAT quickly, yeah? I don't own a multimeter or anything like that, so I can't really...

Water leak from auto trans, is it serious?

I got some advice, and since it hasn't continued to leak, and it was only leaking after 'heavy load' (again, hit 44.8 during that day - so the AC was running FULL BORE all day), that it was most likely just condensation from the AC systems. Upon checking other things (I did pick up a 'top up'...

Water leak from auto trans, is it serious?

Hi, bit of an 'emergency' here - I only noticed this leak yesterday, so the extreme heat (we hit 44.8 here in Bendigo, Victoria) MAY have played a part, since I had not seen any indications of any leaks before now. But yes, it appears to be water/coolant only, it wasn't slick or otherwise...

The "Which speakers should i buy" thread

How much, if at all, does it matter to keep an entire install to a single brand? And if I do go for a full single-brand install, is there any brand that is better across the board (Doesn't have to be top-end on everything, just consistently decent in ALL aspects)? ~JD

    $100 Acclaim

Dang... and I was told scoring my VXii Berlina for $2300 was a great deal, even after needing about $400 in work for Roadworthy (would have been more, but I did some of it myself). Mechanic told me that it was in "Spectacular condition for its age" and everything... ^^; And in all seriousness...

    Replacing washer motor?

All sorted now! It was just the washer motor itself. Didn't end up having to switch it out myself either - The garage doing my RWC fitted it for me, part of their apology for missing a pretty major issue earlier in the test (a bent shock!). But it's all finished and Roadworthy now, and they...

    My new ride!

haven't had much to do with car forums in a while, back in the SC-magazine forum days... I've been without a car since my last one (A mild non-turbo VL) was stollen back in '09. Anyway, that's changed now! After far to long, I have a 'new' Commodore! Picked up this 2001 Berlina (V6 Auto) less...

    Aftermarket CD player issue

The head unit is a pioneer single-DIN unit with a USB plug and a remote, it has red backlighting, but I don't know the specific model. Anyway, the issue is that the little motor the draws in disks (and ejects them) seems to be on the fritz - At least in terms of inserting disks... I tried to...

    Replacing washer motor?

Awesome! I'm not so experienced with newer models... My last Commodore was a VL, and I pulled, flushed, and reinstalled the entire radiator on that! Anyway, sorted a part on Ebay (from a 'parts warehouse' place in Melbourne - was pretty much half the price I would have had to pay at Supercheap...

    Replacing washer motor?

My (front) windscreen washer motor has had it, when I go to turn it on, no noise/buzz or anything. I went and checked the piping (after adding more water, it seems to have been empty), and water flowed through at least as far as the divider on the underside of the bonnet, so I'm pretty sure...
