I managed to snap my hose fitting as it was brittle when pulling it off. Fortunately a local ex-Holden dealer is selling spares on eBay, so managed to pick up a replacement for $22. My valve was still clear, but had the small holes so I still drilled and cleaned.

So I just fitted VF SS mufflers to my VE 3.0L. Amazed at the difference in sound. No drone, and a note low down and on downshift. After about 3500rpm the engine noise takes over. Really happy for a free upgrade and fills the rear bumper much better than the stock mufflers.
