Power limit of mods with VF1 SSV stock exhaust

Just been driving it today. Sometimes it hits the rev limiter and pauses, other times it shifts firmly into 2nd whether it's in drive or sport mode. I noticed that when it shifts properly into 2nd it does so at about 5800 rpm. But when it hits the limiter and cuts out it's at approx 6000 rpm. It...

Power limit of mods with VF1 SSV stock exhaust

I think mine has firmer shifts in sports and manual mode too, but it's more pronounced in manual mode than sport mode. I really haven't tested it properly for 1st to 2nd shifts in various modes. I have an 80 kph and 100 kph highway near where I live so I will test it. The engine cut out pause...

Power limit of mods with VF1 SSV stock exhaust

Don't know why it wasn't tuned that way but may be a reason. Firm shifts in sport mode was what it was originally going to have. I was informed that it's only in manual mode after the tune.

Power limit of mods with VF1 SSV stock exhaust

It went lean on the pre-tune dyno run so probably was a 98 file. My fault, it was up to me to make sure it has the correct fuel in it prior to tuning. It would have been been a mix of quarter tank 91 and quarter tank 98. Tuned on half a tank of fuel. Pretty impressive result considering the...

Power limit of mods with VF1 SSV stock exhaust

Wow thanks Ginger beer l will check out the torque calculator. Car feels much better, especially top end 3000 rpm onwards, similar to my old turbo falcon. More responsive at low revs but doesn't feel much more 'torquey' than before. My son was using the car the day before the tune, just found...

Only what he gave me shown above. No particular torque curve printout

Power limit of mods with VF1 SSV stock exhaust

Don't know if there was a road test. I assumed there would be but maybe there wasn't.

Power limit of mods with VF1 SSV stock exhaust

Quote: tuner will have to lower the gear change rpm and or speed so it can have time to change before it hits the limiter, the more power u make the earlier it has to initiate the shift, at the some time they can firm up the shifts on the sport mode as well Shouldn't these things have already...

Power limit of mods with VF1 SSV stock exhaust

Drives nice but there are a few little things: I would have preferred it to have the firmed up shifts in sport mode rather than only manual tip-tronic mode. Sometimes when taking off in first in sport mode (not manual) it hit's the rev limiter and there's a pause before it moves to second gear...

Power limit of mods with VF1 SSV stock exhaust

Update: Driven it properly........it's FUN :) Much quicker, will be interesting to see how the fuel economy is with the AFM turned off. It has always sat on 13.9L/100 average (dash readout not measured at the pump). But I didn't really buy the car for fuel economy, so it's more of an academic...

Power limit of mods with VF1 SSV stock exhaust

Got it tuned today. It made 260.5 kw and 457.6 Nm torque @5500 rpm, Could not really get a good run before the tune due to it running lean from the VCM otr and 3" Hurricane cat back, made approx 190 to 200ish but no print out. Power increase is good, but torque seems low, but that is at the rear...

Power limit of mods with VF1 SSV stock exhaust

I'm now going to leave the 3" Hurricane catback on with the 2.5" rear Zetti sports mufflers. Just been looking at the stock mid pipe out of the car, there are restrictions everywhere. It's getting tuned on Wednesday.

Power limit of mods with VF1 SSV stock exhaust

I put the 3" Hurricane mid pipe back on but left the sports mufflers on for now. When I drove it there wasn't as much drone as I remembered from previously, didn't have much more drone than the stock mid pipe. I looked underneath, I had forgotten to tighten the rear muffler flanges to the mid...

I've heard that just a trans tune alone makes a fair difference.

Power limit of mods with VF1 SSV stock exhaust

Just firmer shifts than the stock Grandpa tune. But I really like the idea of having Drive as factory then flick to the left for power mode with firmer shifts. At the moment on the stock tune the car basically goes well in 1st then changes to second and just dies off a bit, a firmer/quicker...

Power limit of mods with VF1 SSV stock exhaust

That's wicked Geoff, pretty good number for unopened atmo engine. I will just have 3" Hurricane mid section but stock everything else and the VCM OTR then a tune. Hopefully might make 250 rwkw's but as Ginger Beer said it will make what it makes, that isn't as important as the difference between...

The main thing l love about the otr is the sound at wot.
  18. P

Power limit of mods with VF1 SSV stock exhaust

Mine will be pretty much stock with sports rear mufflers or stock with 3" Hurricane back to stock rear ss mufflers to stop drone. So either way probably won't flow as well as yours did so will make less power. But l do have a VCM OTR but so does everyone.

Power limit of mods with VF1 SSV stock exhaust

    If I can tune to about 250 - 260 rwkw's I'd be happy for now, it's just the L77 6.0
  20. P

Power limit of mods with VF1 SSV stock exhaust

Bearing in mind I still only have stock manifolds and cats
  21. P

Power limit of mods with VF1 SSV stock exhaust

I like that, it means that maybe my stock rear mufflers will shut this Hurricane droning brute up while giving me better flow than the stock mid pipe when I get it tuned.

Power limit of mods with VF1 SSV stock exhaust

I've got 12" x 4" resonators x 4 on this Hurricane 3" mid pipe. It bolts straight up to the stock cats and stock rear mufflers. The drone from this Hurricane 3" mid pipe is unbearable with the Zetti oval rear mufflers, hence it's removal and the use of a stock mid pipe instead. But as I said I...

Power limit of mods with VF1 SSV stock exhaust

Mines just an L77 6.0 series one SSV. I am not chasing big power, so perhaps the stock 2.25 mid-pipe will do. I doubt I will be able to get anymore than 260 rwkws with a tune.
  24. P

Power limit of mods with VF1 SSV stock exhaust

After reading some comments on here regarding maximising rear muffler size, I was just wondering what would the result be if I were to re-install my 3" Hurricane mid-pipe (4 resonator type) and install the stock rear SSV mufflers in place of the Zetti sports oval mufflers? Higher overall flow...

Power limit of mods with VF1 SSV stock exhaust

I'd be going for a cam at the most later on but for now otr and freer flowing exhaust with tune. I am never going for boost. I have seen shorty headers on Ebay both 1"7/8 and 1"3/4 don't know which as long as they bolt up to stock cats
  26. P

Power limit of mods with VF1 SSV stock exhaust

How about the stock headers and cats?
  27. P

Power limit of mods with VF1 SSV stock exhaust

My car with the 3" hurricane cat back was actually pretty quiet from the outside and rear. But the drone was like doing 100 k's on the highway with one window down, I couldn't hear the radio and it was tiring to drive it. I am getting a tune soon. I just have VCM otr and rear sports mufflers...

Power limit of mods with VF1 SSV stock exhaust

"Hopefully my stock VF2 SS mid pipe will bolt up to my new rear Zetti 2.5" mufflers (2.25" to 2.5" hopefully the flange and bolt holes will match up). Should both be twin bolt holes centred 105mm apart." Turns out that the guy who sold me the mid pipe lied about it coming from a VF2-SS. (There...

Are these Headers ok for my VF SSV?

I am tempted to retain the stock cats and just get shorty headers that will bolt up to them. That way I have better flow from engine with headers and less restriction at the rear with Zetti high flow sports mufflers. Then get a tune (the VCM otr is already fitted) and see how I go.
  30. P

Are these Headers ok for my VF SSV?

I guess 200 cell wouldn't be much better
  31. P

Are these Headers ok for my VF SSV?

There doesn't seem to be an easy answer other than to leave the stock cats alone and be happy with the power after a tune. What do people with forced induction or Cams do as far as cats go?
  32. P

Are these Headers ok for my VF SSV?

Yes my main reservation are the 200 cell cats. I would prefer compliant cats that flow better than stock. Some aftermarket cats do nothing more than a catless set up would.
  33. P

Are these Headers ok for my VF SSV?

I like the look of these. They bolt up to the stock mid pipe too, seriously considering getting these! https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/114754956911?mkevt=1&mkpid=0&emsid=e11051.m43.l1123&mkcid=26&ch=osgood&euid=618b51bbca414f62acab4d473d68b255&bu=43230354724&osub=-1%7E1&crd=20220613192635&segname=11051
  34. P

Are these Headers ok for my VF SSV?

"Some have used a smaller high flow in line cat fabricating a new header pipe with a significant power gain." Could any decent exhaust shop do this?
  35. P

Are these Headers ok for my VF SSV?

I'd imagine the cat set up would always be restrictive. so pacemaker Shortys and some kind of hi flow cat set up should see my L77 ready for a tune!
  36. P

Are these Headers ok for my VF SSV?

So 340 headers and cats is what I should be looking for on the used market? Then with the VCM otr (which I already have) I can look at getting a tune? Any aftermarket alternatives that will yield similar results without smelly exhaust or too much noise?
  37. P

Are these Headers ok for my VF SSV?

Yes, if you're only interested in OEM headers and cats, but are becoming like rocking horse shite, with prices to match. Maybe you should 'up your budget' and consider performance headers and high flow cats before your tune. Good point. If I can do it while still keeping the car quiet, hence...
