VZ timing chain, when to replace.

Get rid of the car! You're throwing money away! I can guarantee it will end in tears. You'll do a great job - and then one by one all sorts of other things will fail. Then you will wreck it, sell it as parts or set fire to it. I give you 4 weeks before you are sorry you started this. Yes, I've...

VZ Won’t Start and system not showing any faults

I had the exact same issue with my VZ - except that it made a lot of cam chain noise for the past 5000kms. Had all kinds of experts check everything, got a new key cut on their advice, burn out a starter motor trying to get it running (because it would start for a second or two every now and...

Thanks guys. Not quite there yet after all.... I test drove the car carefully around the block a couple of times first. All seemed good, but the "check drive train" came back.... :( But since all worked well, I must cleared it and went for a 50km drive. Suddenly the temp gauge went to its limit...

    Camchains/tensioners/guides replacement finished

Hi all. My 2005 VZ Alloytech wouldn't start one day a couple of months ago. Since it had been making cam chain noise for a year or so, I figured that it had finally ran out of safe range of cam vs. crank sensor angles. Everything else seemed OK. After searching for and reading many many posts...

Best possible oil to use in alloytec v6 in summer temperatures ?

I've just cleaned out my 2005 alloytech with 230000km on the clock. It's been served per Holden logbook to the letter. It was the dirtiest engine inside I've ever seen! I'll post some photos in another thread about me changing the cam chains and guide & tensioners. I'm going to use synthetic...
