haven't bought any valve train items since Covid hit... thankfully by the sounds of it! I have 2 assembled engines ...one in the car with Crane rollers and the other, on a stand has YT versions plus 2 or 3 spare sets (one I think is off the last engine that had a bore collapse and 'stopped' )...

I do a few of the Tony Knight oiling mods ... block and pump I didn't know this bloke called TK did them but I did a whole heap that Ian Tate showed me (some from my 202 drag racing days) and some for Holden V8s and i have found that Tony Knight does them. Do i have oiling issues? ... no but...

LS engine with carb or injection? if injection, use the factory system as it is rather neat IMO with a carb you will have to mock up something similar to what holden did on XT5 'Blue/black' V8s

plain basic 'silver' bolt on Crane rollers.... Crane 'CLASSIC' I think they are. from memory bought them from Outlaw in SA

I have both YT and Crane screw in jobbies (no machining needed, bolt them on type) on my heads and in 20 odd years I have been back playing circuit racer and turning mine to 7000 lap after lap... simply no issue Mind you, camshafts are not that aggressive LSA 106-110 and lifts up to 550...

reset needed for starters, as I read it lift the neg lead off the battery for at least 20-30mins and see if things improve

Really...?? do they do a drive by noise test ... engine at idle or in coast mode? if they do it with WOT... there is NO WAY an E3 would pass any drive by noise test mine at WOT.. any revs, could be 1000 or 6000 was as noisy as hell! my missus used to comment on this! the GENF is the same...

VC or VH blue 'XT5' 253 or 308 is a possible based on that pic need the engine number (253 and 308s have different suffixes) and cast date would help. Numbers on the crank would be nice too ... looks like a factory inlet manifold with the venerable Quadrajet carby on top

B scratched in the casting of the heads... with a HSV stamp? hmmm...simply not possible me thinks! the last B cast heads was VK Commodore hipo engines (several .. A9L etc) but HSV did not exist then. HSV started after VL came out and the VL V8 carby heads (used on their first car - SV88) did...

my Clubbie has one ... which I use all the time (its on while parked in the driveway) (as well as the alarm/immobiliser and tracker I added) oh it also has another anti-theft feature... its a manual :)

..just clip the factory cable end onto the ball on the throttle lever on the Quaddie (other end is same as 6cyl with the pedal) adjust it as per the factory manual. NB : Factory V8 cables are longer than 6 cyl ones. ...see pic

simples..... run cable thru bracket on the manifold (see pic) but you only need ONE return spring for a streeter (TWO on race cars)

rear VTs on a VK? don't waste your money, front VT brakes (pads, rotors and calipers) will easily stop a VK add braided hose if you want to be serious I run VT fronts and std VK rears on my race car... it stops from the wrong side of $2.00 lap after lap ...
