    Thank you

Just a quick note of gratitude. Any time I have a problem, there is always someone on here that has done it before. There was about 1.5 / 2mm of plastic between driving happily and catastrophe. Finally changed the heater valve this afternoon and the inlet spigot just broke off in my hand...

    e85 ethanol petrol

It's been an educational weekend! Haha. Just reading, observing and making some notes. Turbos, e85, fuel and ignition tuning. Balance shaft removals. Oil return lines. Plugged oil feed galleries. Double row timing chains with no tensioner. I understand with e85 the fuel intake charge will be...

    e85 ethanol petrol

Interesting reading this and other threads about the subject. I've been binge watching guys doing turbo installations on their 3.8l v6 engines over the long weekend. Haha. For a boosted application, I understand better now, the change to e85 fuel. Cooler intake charge, higher octane numbers...

    Oil Opinions ?

I have attached a copy of the general information section relevant to lubrication from the CD manual I have. Summary is "VU Series Models use 10W/30 ILSAC GF2 engine oil for general use and high ambient temperatures in both 3.8 litre V6 and 5.7 litre GEN III V8 engines". Anywho, I have decided...

    Tunerpro RT

Got nothing else to do at the moment so I have paid for one of these OBDI USB ALDL interface cables. Cheaper than the diagnostic check service fee from the local Holden dealership, so we will see how it goes on my old laptop once the cable arrives.

    V6 Peformance Parts

Thank you Michael I installed the PCM and throttle body last week. Swapped over the ICV and EGR valves after cleaning. The difference this combination has made to the drivability of my little V6 engine is amazing. I am really pleased with the install. Kind regards Liam

Mace Engineering VU Commodore Tune Review

They made 190kW out of the VZ SV6 with the 3.6l engine, so I guess a few more changes and we will be around there. Or I buy my bike back from the dealership...

Mace Engineering VU Commodore Tune Review

I haven't stuffed around with a car for a while Vin. I am very fortunate about the circumstances that lead me to own this ute. I've been doing a little bit of reading and I am quite impressed with this little engine. Roller lifters. Balance shaft. Decent mains caps on the crankshaft. Unless you...

Need help with rotors and pads

I'll let you know when the Bendix Ultimate front rotor and brake pads turn up next week. Plan is do the swap, power bleed and replace the fluid with Castrol React DOT4. I'll throw the new Goodridge braided front brake lines I got from Race Brakes Sydney in at the same time.

    power antenna and aftermarket stereo

Thanks Scott. I have this all sorted now come Monday. Went to the Aerpro website and downloaded all the information I need to install a new Sony 6.2" display. No more terminal strips here! haha.

Mace Engineering VU Commodore Tune Review

The retuned PCM was $280.00 and if you return your original you get a $50 refund. I didn't worry about this yet, because I wanted to keep the OEM PCM as a spare. The 69mm throttle body was $220.00. Just had to reinstall the ICV and EGV off the original throttle body. After I completed the...

    Vu V6 exhaust

I recently had a set of Pacemaker extractors/headers installed. The installer went with a single high flow Cat (left hand side of transmission) and single 2 1/2" Redback system with the standard OEM twin muffler set up. I'm pretty happy with the results. There is a bit of a drone in the exhaust...

Mace Engineering VU Commodore Tune Review

This afternoon I completed the installation of the re tuned PCM and 69mm throttle body on my 3.8l Ecotec V6. Swapped over the ICV and EGR valves. Cleaned all the crud out of the intake area behind the throttle body. Absolutely wrapped with the results. Only went for a quick blatt around the...

HOLDEN VX VU UTE V6 V8 WORKSHOP SERVICE REPAIR MANUAL CD

I'm pretty sure its GM, Tommy. It's PDF's of everything. VU, VX, VT Series 1 and 2. V6 and V8. All I know is that its a damn sight better. Rather search for the right PDF than use the Haynes manual I bought.

HOLDEN VX VU UTE V6 V8 WORKSHOP SERVICE REPAIR MANUAL CD

So I wasn't completely sure about my purchase, but the CD arrived in the post today. Super happy. Its the business. Covers VT series 1 and 2, VX, VU (Me), V6 and V8. For $12.00 delivered I feel like either burning or asking for a refund on the Gregorys manual now. Been looking into the...

    Wheel Alignment Specification

Not sure if this will be of benefit to anyone. At the local Holden parts counter in Penriff today and I asked if they still had the wheel alignment specs for my little ute. 04/2001 VU Commodore 3.8l POV Pack. Anywho. I have attached same. Still have to replace the front struts and springs, then...

Brake lines - rubber vs braided

Sigh. I do miss my bikes. If it wasn't for two disk injuries, I would still have a garage full of them.

Brake lines - rubber vs braided

This is what it is like to run braided front brake lines on a race bike losh1971... Me on my old race bike at SMP in 2013. Thank the race Gods I stopped otherwise I would have worn a Bimota about 3 minutes in...

Brake lines - rubber vs braided

I have been considering a braided front brake line swap on my little ute. Based on my experience running braided front brake lines on my old race bike, I expect at the every least, better pedal feel. My 2007 Honda CBR600RR race bike had OEM rotors, OEM pads and DOT4 race fluid. The change to a...

    Thank you

A quick note to say thank you to the forum administrators and members. So many forum groups have disappeared courtesy of Facebook. I inherited my little ute through the kindness of a couple of friends. 12 months off work with spinal problems and now I'm playing with my ute instead of bikes...

    V6 Peformance Parts

Quite looking forward to receiving my 69mm throttle body and PCM. Order placed. Tune form in. Coming from a motorcycle racing background I look at it like a Power Commander for my ute. I don't expect the same power to weight ratio from my old CBR1000RR, but anything is better if I cannot ride...
