Replacing brake pads without surfacing rotors.

VF SV6 Rotors and Brake Pads. Done about 45k kms on original front pads and rotors. What is the minimum thickness a VF's front rotor can be taken down to legally without warping cracking etc. ? If the existing rotors are true and not badly gouged, grooved etc. can new brake pads be fitted...

Passenger rear window glass opening without any button operations

Hello all, The passenger side rear door window glass is randomly opening 50 to 75mm without any button operation. (2015 VF Sedan) I am looking for a heads up for the condition if possible, before I pull door skins, lift carpets etc.. I don't think the power windows are controlled by any...

How to interpret Battery Voltage reading vs. battery life

Hello all, I have been tardy keeping tabs on my initial post about battery voltage and expected life. My apologies. I have been looking at the old VF Battery. Here is a follow-up on the survival of the original 5 1/2 year old VF battery. VF Build date 18 June 2015. It has been out of the car...

Does VF ECU or BCM etc. need to be "updated" if a new battery fitted?

Thanks for the info. Watching the dash voltmeter, varies from about 12.3 to 14.4 most times on short runs. My DMM logs about 12.63 overnight no load.

Does VF ECU or BCM etc. need to be "updated" if a new battery fitted?

Hi, Just replaced my original battery. (About 5 1/2 years old - 37% health). Does the ECU or whatever need to be told of such matters? I haven't seen any written advices anywhere. I hooked another 12v battery up before I swapped the old battery out. All my data - fuel usage, mylink settings...

VF Series 1 Sedan Fitting larger battery in rear compartment

I am looking at replacing my battery 2015 July build, Series 1, SV6 sedan. The battery is held down by a clamp bolted to the battery carrier. The battery is also held from above with a fabric strap extending from the battery carrier over to the metalwork that holds the fuse block etc. The...

How to interpret Battery Voltage reading vs. battery life

Hello all, My battery is approx 4.5 years old, (SV6 Auto - Build date July 2015) never been flattened, and driven in mostly south east Qld weather conditions. I usually check the Battery Voltage screen every few week to see if the battery is "behaving" eg. after a long trip 100/300km, on the...

Mylink and Samsumg mobile 5.1.1 operating system

Hello all, My Samsung mobile worked OK as far as making and answering calls via the MyLink up to about a year or two back. I don't use the mobile in the car normally. Went to prepare for an upcoming trip and thought I would check out the mobile/MyLink connectivity. My mobile said it was...

    Cabin Fumes

My VF Sedan 2015 had a fuel smell in the cabin, and on occasions the cap seemed not very tight. From memory, I was told to tighten it 2 clicks after a fill. Still got the fuel smell. Finally,,,, Holden replaced the fuel filler cap and no more smell.

    Boot Lamp intermittent operation

Hi everyone, haven't posted for a while, and some help would be much appreciated. I still have the VF SV6 Storm Sedan Series 1 - June 2015 build. My boot light is intermittently lighting when the boot lid lifts up. Is there a "tilt" or some type of switch in the boot lid somewhere? or is...

    SV6 Engine Rattle

I have a 2105 VF SV6 no engine rattles on startup as yet. The normal queries - correct engine oil and filter, regular servicing etc. Does the oil pressure warning light work etc. ? If some warranty left I'd hot foot it to Holden dealer. Good luck with the solution.

How long can a VF be stored for without battery starting problems?

Quick report on my VF Battery after 9 weeks The car was started 3 times during the nine weeks, at week 2, 5 and 7 approx. and taken on short runs, each about 7kms. Before my first start, measured voltage under the bonnet and on dash screen. DMM 11.9v Dash 11.7v Started the car...

How long can a VF be stored for without battery starting problems?

Thank you all for your replies. First option is to have a rellie start the car for a run every 3 weeks. If the battery goes flat, then so be it. I will recharge when I get home. Thanks for your help

How long can a VF be stored for without battery starting problems?

Hi all, Looking at a long break, 9 weeks, where my VF (July 2015 build) will be probably locked away and not driven at all. My best option is a family member will drop in, but I cannot guarantee the visiting cycles as far as keeping the battery topped up. eg 3/4/5 week spacing between visits...

No front Passenger seat belt warning - VF S1 Storm SV6

Thanks treesnake. Found two connectors. One white and one yellow near the seat belt fixed buckle. Both were correctly locked together. In the back of my mind I think yellow denotes involvement with the safety system - airbag deployment/seat belt tensioner trigger circuitry. So, being...

No front Passenger seat belt warning - VF S1 Storm SV6

Over the last few trips noticed the front passenger seat belt warning chimes and associated dash display (Seat 2) do not work, when > 22kmph is exceeded. The owner manual (Ch5-14) says that when there is no passenger present, then the warning system is not activated. Supposedly a heavy parcel...

Window/door rubber deposits on A Pillar.

Thanks for your reply 426Cuda. I've cleaned mine off twice since I noticed it. Must be a bit annoying on a white car, or a light body colour.

Window/door rubber deposits on A Pillar.

Gave the car (VF S1) a bit of a detail recently, and noticed that both A pillars had a black rubber type "slick" at the bend where the windscreen frame meets the door's vertical opening. The B and C pillars were clean of any black deposits from the door rubbers. It comes off with car polish...

SSV Redline creaking in rear of cabin on driveways...

I had a Ford, once, and it had creaking noises going over bumps and drive ways. Got under the car and tension wrenched all chassis bolts and suspension fixings etc. Noises went. In the VF and WN Service Book page 33, at 36 months or 60000km the book states: Check and tighten bolts and nuts on...

2015 VF SV6 - Shaking intermittently at idle.

Sorry for the epistle, but it may be helpful. From experience with my VZ SV6, I found the idle stability was poor when the EVAP solenoid was activated by the ECU. Especially when cold started. The EVAP did not necessarily activate as soon as the engine was started, but started chattering...

2015 VF SV6 LACK OF POWER (FLAT SPOT)

http://www.allstatetransmission.net/transmission-flush-and-fluid-change-information I did not flush the auto in my 2004 build, VZ SV6 (105,000kms), just changed the oil at 8-9 years. (handbook was 10 years, from memory). I did not realise that a change did not automatically give a "flush" at...

    SV6 Black Edition Speedo Error

I recently bought an aftermarket HUD which uses the OBDII socket. At 110kmph on the speedo, the HUD says about 107kmph. Looks like the OBDII socket may have the accurate data from the BCM/ECU etc.

2015 VF SV6 LACK OF POWER (FLAT SPOT)

I may have missed this suggestion in this post, but, just a thought, are you a member of the RAA of South Aust.? They may be willing to test the vehicle (for a fee?) and give a written report suitably worded in dealership, engineering and technicians' level English, hopefully in your favour, for...

2015 VF SV6 LACK OF POWER (FLAT SPOT)

Hey greenac, the throttle body was filthy indeed as for the TPS I don't know if this has anything to do with the butterfly plate position but it certainly didn't look completely sealed to me (closed off) key out of ignition, before I started cleaning. (See the attached pic) Couldn't see your...

2015 VF SV6 LACK OF POWER (FLAT SPOT)

Some thoughts on the VF SV6 and flat spots. On a cold start the flat spot is slightly present, as the air fuel mixture is running on ECU preset settings until the engine measured parameters temperature etc etc are able to be used for correct fuel/air calibration. (Something about closed loop...

    VF2 fuel consumption

Hi All, I don't want to highjack the fuel economy discussion but I came across some old booklets recently, and the fuel cycles of our 35 year old commodore, the VH 3.3L and 4.2L came to light, so I thought I would share it with you. The VF has larger capacity engines, weighs more, and has CCAC...

    Auto headlight sensor

I understand the inverted top hat fitting which clips into the dashboard and holds the little dome device can be removed by a rotation of about 90 degrees. Not certain if clockwise or anticlockwise. Members with a manual can possibly assist here. Once the top hat is out, then you can test if...

Auto Dimming of My Link Screen

Is there a push-out part in your dash mat to expose the light sensor? The other function of the dome device is to advertise the security system is active in the vehicle. Can you punch a neat hole in the mat to expose the dome ?

Auto Dimming of My Link Screen

I had this problem when I took delivery of my S1 SV6 sedan. The problem was that the sunlight sensor, centre dash above the central speaker(?) was not engaged in the small "top hat" type fixing clip. Depending on the heat and cool on the dashboard, the sensor would be high and then low caused...

Mufflers bottoming out in driveways. SV6 S1 Sedan

The problem is with the crossings from street to property driveway. Some motels don't have wide driveways to take at an angle and I think that after a few resurfacings of some roadways, the approach angle is steeper and the gutter has not been lifted the 30 - 50mm as had the roadway. On...

Mufflers bottoming out in driveways. SV6 S1 Sedan

Just done about 8000 kms over the last 5 weeks (Brisbane - Melbourne - Townsvile and Brisbane) and had problems with the rear end of the mufflers dragging on gutter crossings to shopping centres and motels driveways etc. The muffler tips did not touch ground at all. I did not tow a van or...

    Ssv redline front end knock

The VF Holden handbook states that all chassis bots and fasteners are tightened at the 60000km service from memory. Has your car been tightened up all over? Some members report noises and such, and they were cured when the chassis points were torqued up to spec.

VF CalaisV - Push to Start green but engine not running and locking gives horn beeps.

I read somewhere there is a vacuum pump which starts up if there is no engine vacuum under certain conditions on the alloytec. eg no engine running hence no vacuum. Does the V8 have a similar pump to establish engine vacuum under certain conditions?

Idiots guide to removing and cleaning VCM otr filter?

    VF 1 Recall??

You know, it's all a matter of trust, convenience and seeking your rights to a fix that will work, if Holden know about it and fix it properly. I am planning on doing a Brizvegas to Melbourne trip, then a Brizvegas to Townsville trip over the next 2.5 months. Total approx. 9-11 thousands Kms...

Windscreen wipers don't seem to wipe enough?

At low wiper speed I found my VZ didn't extend to the A Pillar and left a gap. However in the high speed wipe mode, the blade travelled closer to the A Pillar. Could be inertia in the mechanism and the blades being flung around. If you do move the arm on the spline, check the high speed for...
