Head gasket on its way out?

Thanks I will definitely check out the link. I have replaced the cap (one of the first things I did when the issue arose) as I know how important it is but didn’t seem to make a difference. Appreciate your helpful replies

Head gasket on its way out?

Yes this is a V8. I find it strange that this mechanic cannot diagnose the fault for sure but says based on everything they encountered, they suspect head gasket. To be fair, they did not charge me for any of the latest checks. They did recommend a place to diagnose / repair but I am choosing...

Head gasket on its way out?

Thanks so much. I am a bit suss too and so are other people I’ve told but nobody is a mechanic and can fix or diagnose for me (and I’m not good with these things) so unfortunately I’m relying on a workshop right now. I have in booked into a Holden dealer to diagnose the fault…I trust Holden...

Head gasket on its way out?

Mechanic said head gasket could explain the coolant being lost - said something about it being pushed out of the reserve tank

Temperature gauge fluctuating and fan coming on

Thank you, very helpful and also my thinking of why it may be more of a sensor issue.

Temperature gauge fluctuating and fan coming on

27yr old female so not so savvy at checking myself...would have thought mechanic would have checked everything. Plan to give them a call as soon as they open again. Thanks

Temperature gauge fluctuating and fan coming on

Hi all, vehicle is 2011 Holden Commodore V8 SSV. Bit of background...temperature guage going right up to hot (triggering the engine too hot warning symbol) and fan coming on. As quickly as it climbs to hot, temperature drops again and then seems to sit all over the place (but never lower than...

Once the car had cooled down we did and it did seem a bit low. Topped it up but makes me wonder where the coolant went. Hopefully find out the cause today. Thank you

High temperature Holden Commodore 2011 V8

Did about a five hour trip today and my temperature gauge fluctuated a lot. I know it’s normal reading and it usually does not move so this was not normal. It would go right up to red and the engine too hot warning light would ding, but then as quick as it would rise it would then start falling...
