    bluetooth phone connection

Definately adjusted setting whilst on a bluetooth call and there is no difference whatsoever. Callers today still complained about echo. Holden say they are unable to fault it. I guess I am just going to have to buy the Aldi $9.90 bluetooth unit that everybody is raving about. Seems crazy to...

    bluetooth phone connection

I have checked my settings and the only setting that was not as above was the balance. I had previously set it to the front right channel. I have now set it to STD and will see if there is any improvement.

    wheel alignment

I am the original poster and a few days after noting everybody'd advice I had a wheel alignment at Pedders with amazing success. It was like driving a new car again. One month and 1500 kms later it is back as bad as ever. The car is pulling around in the smallest of ruts in the road. So what...

    bluetooth phone connection

Sorry people if you are tired of this question, but has anybody solved the horrible echo problem that telephone callers complain about when using the bluetooth connection. Is there a trick to configuring the radio to stop the echo? I have tried everything I can think of and currently I fade...

    wheel alignment

How easily does the VE go out of wheel alignment. Just the last few weeks I have felt the car pulling around on the road surface. Took it to Pedders this week who did a wheel alignment and now it is perfect again. I only got a wheel alignment about 2000Klm ago when the car got lowered. I...

    VE lemons

I have a 2007 Calais. I know what you mean about the pillar but trust me you will get used to it and learn to move your head a little. With the wandering I can tell you I can take my hands off the wheel for several seconds and the car tracks true and straight. I find often that the road...

    Placement of portable GPS

Yeah, I have seen those brackets but always thought that they must block the airflow from the vent(s). What's your experience?

    Placement of portable GPS

That's where I had my GPS until I heard that it may impede deployment of the pillar airbag. I am looking for a semi permanent position below windscreen level because my latest GPS has "live traffic reports" so I like to have it switched on all the time.

    Placement of portable GPS

Tell me, where do you guys and gals stick/place your portable GPS in a VE, taking into consideration not obstructing airbags, air vents and dash displays. I was sticking the GPS on the windscreen to the right of the steering wheel and then I read in a newspaper of a driver that was injured when...

    Lowering VE SS

I don't own an SS, I have a Calais V6 and recently had it lowered with Pedders springs by 25mm. I don't think it has settled yet on all fours to the full 25mm but I am scraping even at that level. Not on everything, but I am glad I did not go any lower because of the scrape factor. Just watch...

    Tyre noise?

Stop, stop, stop. Back it up ! Are you suggesting the battery may have something to do with this noise?.....any your friend back traded because of battery problems? In the words of Pauline Hanson..."please explain"

    Lowring Springs

should I change my shocks now? Thanks for the replies. I am worried about the bumpy ride which is mainly coming from the rear end. The front seems fine. To give you an idea, normal expansion joints in a concrete freeway is like driving over the cats eyes lane markers. If I had the shocks...

    VE aircon

The smoke is probably just condensation. Happened to me several times many years ago with different cars. The windscreen starts to fog up and condensation pours from the vents. Back then it turned out, each time, to be a blocked drain pipe. In other words the humidity the aircon is pulling...

    Lowring Springs

I had Pedders lowrings springs put on the Calais this week. The reason:- 1) Looks 2) Tinny standard suspension, loose in the front end, felt up through the steering wheel. 3) Bumpy ride compared to an Omega or Berlina. The results are:- 1) Lowered about 25mm. Mechanic says it will...

    calais vs calais v

Just checked my build plate (Nov 2007) and it doesn't say anything about Fe1.5 or 2 etc. It does say "SUSP Standard". What do you think that means? I drive a lot of rental cars and I always admire the ride over my VE Calais when I jump into a VE Omega or a VE Berlina. I like the so called...

    calais vs calais v

I bought a late 2007 Calais V just 12 months ago. It was new from a dealer and I paid $34,000. My previous car was a VZ Calais and yes once the VE engine was warn in (about 5K) it has a lot more poke than the VZ. Much better looking car than the VZ but overall I think the feel of the VZ was...

    Blaupunkt Sat Nav DVD Update

However you go about obtaining your upgrade make sure it includes the new "live traffic alert", it's awsome ! Is premium a necessity for SS?

The scare campaign was run by the oil companies who, at the time, were facing a 10% reduction in income if the Government allowed 10% synthethic fuel because they did not (and still don't I believe) have any distilling facilities in Australia for the manufacture of enthanol. At the exact same...

    VE commodores - Flat batteries?

I don't have battery problems (yet) but I am curious about your experience of people "opening the door before they take the keys out of the iginition". I don't understand why this may be a problem. Can you provide further explanation please.

    uncommon colours?

The colour of my 2007 Calais is K-pow. It changes colour, depending on the light, from purple to dark blue. I understand the colour was discontinued very quickly which probably explains why I have never seen another VE in that colour.

    MP3 Music

I tried to dump a heap of MP3 files onto a CD and expected them to play just like a computer. Then I realised the head unit is not a computer it is a CD player. The only way I can play MP3's (apart from using the jack input) is to covert the files to audio with Nero or similar. You then just...

    VE Touch Screen Sat-Nav System

There was a similar post on this forum a few months ago. Scroll down you should find it because it had a Youtube Vid on how to operate it. At the time I looked into it and got a few prices. Supplied and installed the prices ranged from $1300 to $1850. Nice to have but I still can't come at...

    Solved Exhaust Drone

No, and I only have done 8K since new. I was thinking the (different) noise was because of twin exhaust in the VE Calais compared to the single in the VZ.

    Solved Exhaust Drone

I put a bedspread in the boot, not a mattress. I have a stock V6, no turbo, no doof doof exhaust, the car is original in every respect. Compared to my old VZ I just find there is a low "drone" noise entering the cabin, which I (unqualified assessment) have put down to an exhaust noise. I...

    Solved Exhaust Drone

Can't understand why I didn't think of it sooner. I have laid an old bedspread in the boot and it has reduced the exhaust drone considerably.

VZ Executive - Fog Lights, Where, How!????

If it wasn't for the fact that it would leave two gaping holes I'd let you have mine, because I doubt I'll be using them again. I got fined a few months ago for using them in clear weather. No excuse I guess, but I had driven through thick fog at Mt White on the F3 and fogotten to turn them...

GARMIN NAV/GPS FOR YOU VE - Full Integration

Thanks, I will shop around, but the installer I spoke to was talking about harnesses and loomes and bypass thingies so that the DVD in the back seat would still work whilst using the GPS upfront. It seems that if I am happy not to have DVD working at the same time and happy to operate with the...
