Need advice on walbro replacement for vy sv8 one tonner and ss crewman

Trust me when I say I've been there done that. The v6 for some reason has a replacement pump but the v8 doesn't and holden can only give me a part number for the whole unit. Also I don't want to go pulling mine apart for now. I know guys have done it. There was a guy in Newcastle that was going...

Need advice on walbro replacement for vy sv8 one tonner and ss crewman

The old pump has packed it in and $200 sounds sweeter than $700 for a replacement unit. The filter was just under $200 alone. Current it just has exhaust but I've decided to keep it so I'll throw a replacement low km engine in it soon and do the cam and heads at the same time.

Need advice on walbro replacement for vy sv8 one tonner and ss crewman

Your not getting where I'm coming from. I know the differences as I've already replaced the filter. I want to remove the actual pump from the sender unit and replace it with a walbro or bosch aftermarket intank pump. What I'm wanting to know from someone who's been there before is what walbro...

Need advice on walbro replacement for vy sv8 one tonner and ss crewman

No. Sorry should have said that the utes and sedans have different type. The tonner and crewman have an in tank 200000km long life filter attached to the unit but im not sure if the pump its self is the same.

Need advice on walbro replacement for vy sv8 one tonner and ss crewman

Hi guys. Has anyone on here removed and replaced the stock pump in either a v8 one tonner or crewman with a walbro or bosch aftermarket intank pump? The sender units are different than the sedans and utes and nothing is coming up in searches. To be clear, I only want to replace the pump in...

Replacing LS1 One Tonner fuel pump. Will std SS pump fit

Hi guys The pump in my tonner has packed it in and im in need of a replacement. Aparently the crewman and tonner have the same pump. Would a normal VY SS replacement bosch (or similar) pump fit into the tonner/crewman sender unit? I don't want to run the risk of buying a pump that wont fit...

    VY SV8 Tonner

Any moving parts I guess. Its there so its senses more weight in the rear and adjusts the brake bias accordingly

    VY SV8 Tonner

I haven't really looked to far into it yet. There's so many different sizes . On the tonner they're M14 bolts 90mm between bolt centers 120mm between the 2 plates Ive looked up and down for the plates that are 90mm between centers (holes I can drill out) I've thought about making the plate up...

    VY SV8 Tonner

Mine squeaks like a bitch and im not 100% sure where its coming from. I was looking at getting a set of 4x4 greasable shackles with the grease nipples but no luck finding them. If you do a search around, you'll come across the explanation for all the noise. Apparently the chassis design is a...

vt ecotec twin throttle body problem

YES YOU CAN....... I did it years ago on my old VT and it ran fine for almost 3 years on a stock tune. You need to make sure that one TB is totally hooked up stock and the other is just a throttle blade with all lines blocked/welded up. Also make sure that the MAF is hooked up to both intakes...

how much oil is in the M6 gen3 gearbox

Fill to the bottom of the fill plug and replace that, then remove the reverse switch and fill with another 400ml - 500ml. Some say 400 some say 500 but its not really that critical IMHO Not sure how much that is in total though. I think from memory its 4L to the bottom of the main fill plug

Free torque at the expense of top end???

ah ok You also mentioned MDF as an insulator/spacer. I'd say no to that because it will get impregnated in oil from the PCV and swell. I have a 12mm one here. Make an offer, I don't need it no more. You'll just need to cut 4 little 12mm long aluminium spacers with a 6-7mm hole to go between...

    Rockers not fitting after cam?

Why would you put longer pushrods in? Is there a benefit. I would have thought that a longer pushrod to the extent of not letting the rocker bolt down on a bigger cam wouldn't let the valve fully close on a standard cam. Maybe i'm missing something like the action of the hydraulic lifters.

Free torque at the expense of top end???

everything is going to cost you something. Gaskets, cleaning heads up etc If you have access to a welder and mill, why don't you have a crack at upping the ratio of the rockers by moving the pushrod seat closer to the pivot point. You would have to get the measurements right and make a jig so...

    Performance plenum spacer

I got a little more bottom end torque in my old VT with a manifold insulator but minimal, that was also with the custom twin TB plenum. I did notice it kept th plenum a little cooler which is its main job. As for the strut brace, they have a tendency to keep your car drivable after hitting a...

    Rockers not fitting after cam?

Shouldn't be I put stock length hardened push rods in with my 1.95's in the old VT Do you know the history of the heads/motor? Are they stock rockers as Steve said? Look for little weld pools around the pushrod seat The cam is made to go with stock valve train so if its all stock then...

Swapping exhaust system etc and air pod filter from vr to vs

As for the pod filter, either try and shield it from the power robbing hot engine bay temps or invest in a over radiator cold air intake. SS inductions make a nice one but its a little expensive. There's also a few threads going around about a home made CAI that comes out of the bottom of the...

    VY SV8 Tonner

Well for a start the Tonner never came out in an SS, Just an SV8 Only difference is no SS seats, dash etc and no FE2 suspension. As for fuel economy its pretty good at around 9.8L / 100km on the highway but who know's how much fuel is actually in the tank. I tried to fit FE2 springs but it...

UHF scanner into factory VY Unit

I've thought about this as well. But it'll be a pain in the ass cutting in and out all the time. Better to have an external speaker and just mute when you hear something you want to listen to. I have an in car UHF CB/Scanner combo and it just scans between 29 and 40 as thats all I listen to now...

    double din installation recommendation...

Give it a go yourself. Try and buy a plug that converts the holden to what ever you have. Failing that if you cant solder, grab yourself a set of crimpers and joiners. Follow a wire diagram and you cant go wrong. The headunit wires will be marked. Have to start somewhere

25mm manifold and 12mm plenum spacer

Well from experience I can say that you will notice a fair mid range gain with the rockers. Its not diff snapping power but its noticeable. As for the manifold spacer, Its bolted down to the top of the plenum so it will rise with the spacer if its the 12mm one but I cant speak for the 25mm one...

    Twin throttle bodies

The yanks have a banana type intake similar to the LSX intakes that they put on their series 3 motor which im pretty sure is the same as the ecotec. Twin throttle bodies

There's a difference in the runner length between the S1 VN and the S2 VN - VR buick motors. The S2 is an inch longer The S2 also got the bellmouth in the intake to help distribute air evenly that apparently took a little of the seat of the pants torque away. The S1 VN got a slightly lumpier...

    Twin throttle bodies

Hence the reason the Grp A manifolds have the trumpets inside. They're just a box I was able the achieve a result on my VT because I didn't modify the runner length that much except for a mace plenum spacer. I just increased the plenum volume and added twin throttle bodies. I still think to...

    Twin throttle bodies

you'd cut it down to a point where you still keep the integrity of the manifold. Probably just inline with the top of the fuel rails. Have it come out at an angle and then up into a larger box so you can still fit the injectors in place. Seen it done a few times.

ls1 cooling....Has anyone done a engine fan install mod to an ls1?

Yea of course its going to rise if your hill climbing, thats why you have a whole range between hot and cold. I have a normal temp gauge mounted in the VY binicle and it moves a few deg when im sitting around for a while or climbing a steep hill. Try holding the set and mode buttons in while...

You payed $300 for that? Seems a little steep for some ally tube and flanges that are cut off $10 wrecker parts. But im only saying that because I could build it myself. If you cant then you have to pay for the time and materials etc. Its a bloody good idea though. You have the throttle bodies...

Modified ECU Chip and AIT Sensor on eBay?

Its just a 5c resistor that tricks the ECU into thinking the air entering the motor is cooler and in turn dumps more fuel in. More fuel is good but in this case its running rich. With more fuel you need more air. Since you cant give it more air, you'll loose power

Your not trying to do the Ebay IAT sensor mod with a resistor are you  Didn't work then, doesn't work now Tricks the ECU into thinking its cooler and throws more fuel in. With more fuel you need more air otherwise you don't make power. Running rich actually looses power. The stock IAT...
