Could it be rattly hydralic lifters? I have that problem, when the oil heats up, it becomes thinner and then theres less of a "buffer" of oil between the lifter and the cam.

I think there is some sludging in this motor, could be why the lifters are stuffed? You're probably right that the springs r shot too, my dad's VN isnt making pleasant noises either (and his is well maintained/not thrashed)

Its a metal-type sound, unfortunately so are many other problems. I went to my mechanic with another problem, and asked hime what he thought that noise was. I'd already looked at about a million things by that stage.

What do you guys reckon a full set of hydraulic lifters would cost to replace? Mine are noisy and need to be changed. Thanks in advance.

This is a weird one. High mounted brake light has been working fine, but tonight on the way home I noticed it was on all the time. When I braked, it became brighter. But when I turn off my headlights it works as usual. Weird huh? :ranting:

Calais back seats are comfy as. Nothing like the VN exec, SS or other crap models. They look good and fit properly.

I saw a switch block from a VP, the left hand side one with the variable intermittent wiper control. Is this a straight bolt on to a VN? I hate the VN's 1 speed intermittent control, always seems too fast or too slow! :whistling

Can't see how your theory works. Sounds like a old wive's tale. I have read the actual ADR, only mentions characteristics like visibility from 200 metres behind the vehicle. L.E.D's should be better, not worse in this regard. My L.E.D's still look reasonably bright from a 45 degree angle too...

I had this same problem when I had a short circuit in my rear bootlight (positive terminal touched the car body (negative). My guess is the cheapy fuse that was in their is faulty, am gonna replace all dogy cheap fuses with reputable ones. Dunno if this is your problem, hope I helped.
