    Lowering-should I/shouldn't I?

jyothi, I think that if you have already noticed a difference in ride comfort simply by putting low profile tyres on, then I would say you are fairly sensitive to ride comfort. In that case I would make sure you follow some of the guys suggestions about doing the complete shocks & springs. I...

    Lowering-should I/shouldn't I?

Depends on your own outlook. You have to ask yourself the questions. If you are precious about your ride comfort, then perhaps it's not for you. I have gone to the extreme end of lowering so my ride wouldn't even do well on the racetrack. If I want luxury and comfort, i'll sit in the leather...

    Self Servicing your Commodore

All the things that don't matter quite so much are done well on my car. I mean, they can lose a scrivet or two, spill a bit of fluid here and there, drive the car a little too far, but when it comes to one of the MOST important items on the servicing list, engine oil and filter, please don't be...

    Self Servicing your Commodore

Here's one more question. I forgot to mention this in my last post. When I recently did my 5000km oil and filter, as I was removing the holden one from the last service I noticed ring marks of paint removed from the oil filter. Marks were consistent with the use of one of those ring-grip oil...

    Self Servicing your Commodore

I haven't had any real dramas with Holden service except for one really frustrating problem. Everytime I send it in for service I ask them to put Mobil 1 in it. And each time I get it back it comes back with their standard Castrol in it. I don't think they are deliberately trying to rip me off...

do v8's really drink that much?

    >What would our big thirsty 5.7's be worth then? Again, I really don't think the majority of V8 owners are short of a buck. If the recent hike in fuel prices were of great concern to people in the market for a V8, then sales for these models would be struggling. If the value of a V8 really...

do v8's really drink that much?

If anything the fuel prices are going down, not up. But seriously, if you are the kind of person who struggles to fill the tank when fuel prices change 10 cents a litre then a V8 is probably not for you. They obviously use more fuel than a V6. As Enhancedss has said, exhaust, diff & edit...

    Tinted Windows

Mine was done with 50+ UV protection film endorsed by the Anti-Cancer Council. Had the kiddies in mind as noone in the car will get burnt no matter how much the sun belts in the window. Lifetime warranty for the owner who purchased the film. Here's a quote from the website below - "Before...

    Removing Rear Resonator- Vy Ss

I wonder what the rules are for exhaust these days? I seem to remember years ago some rule about the exhaust outlet had to exit the vehicle past the cabin?? With a ute that should mean that you could have some cool pipes exiting the side of the vehicle half way down since that would be past...

    lowering my vy

I've been told there is a factory adjustment, but that it is just a trim and will not compensate for the kind of adjustment required to correct lowering of the order of my VY. Not that I care to adjust it anyway.

do u think i should drop the vy more

Bugger all actually. The secret is to negotiate driveways SLOWLY. Some driveways you just don't negotiate at all. You learn which ones you can and which ones you can't pretty quickly. Now I know without trying the ones I can't.

do u think i should drop the vy more

Once you decide to keep going lower you have to start making sacrifices. Depends on how important the low ride is to you. For me the low ride is paramount. But if you go ULTRA low all round like me, you can forget speed humps from now on.

    new exhaust

Yeah resonator is the answer. As soon as you lose the resonator, you cop plenty of noise inside the cabin.

Even saw a trailer today with LED tail lights!

So yeah, not to be rude and not answer your question, the answer is yes, they are backlit mate.

    LED Tail Lights...

When you say, "The Law states that you see light from a reverse light, indicator and brake/tail light from the side" What law? Where are you getting this from? The Hella rep? I've already posted a section from the legislation for vehicle standards for the state of SA in the first page of...

The Peugeot 307 has LED brake lights. And yes it is almost impossible to see the brake lights from the side angle. However I severely doubt their new car is illegal.

    Speedo LED's

Ok, today I changed the LCD display on the radio to white. Here are the pics: And for Krustyone, here's the LEDs: The LEDs in the background are the original ones. I used 3mm LEDs as I couldn't find any decent surface mount white ones at the time.
  26. S

    Speedo LED's

I won't lie to you, it really does help to have a bit of soldering experience behind you, especially when you remove the LCD display from the board. But basically it's just changing the LEDs that are there with the ones of your choice. I reckon it cost me about $30 for the LEDs and that's...

    Speedo LED's

Just incase anyone wants to know what the VY SS speedo looks like with super bright white LED's. I decided today to take the speedo out just to see how it comes apart. Once I had it apart I then figured I would rush down to the shop and get some LED's to change it a bit. As my SS is white, I...

Please help - possible reasons for noise from engine in VY series II

The only noise I have heard that is similar to your description is the ventilation system. Sometimes (rarely) it seems a "wind vane" that must move to mix the hot and cols air seems to get caught in the wrong spot and vibrates like a purring sound. It's not that is it? Engine bay right near...

how low should i go for my vy

I say SLAM IT! When I had my VY V6, I lowered it but stayed on the conservative side and regretted it ever since. This time round I wanted it to look the way I wanted it to look :yeah: Lovell ultra lows all round.

    Series 1 or 2

I heard a rumour that the Gen III motor's power output in the commodore is controlled almost entirely through the exhaust system. Meaning that by reducing the restriction slightly with each model, they achieve the 10kw increase. Can anyone confirm or deny this? From memory the exhaust system...

    lights not turning themselves off

I tell you something to try. There is an option in the menu to reset the user settings back to defaults. Do that. Then go in and change the settings back to the way you want them. Let us know how that goes.
  35. S

    lights not turning themselves off

So let's just get this straight, you are: 1. Parking the car 2. Turning the key all the way off 3. Removing the key 4. opening the door 5. getting out 6. closing the door 7. using the key remote to lock the doors Then after the lights pathway timer has finished the lights do not go out?

    Fuel Consumption.

What would be really nice to see is more people quoting the average km/h figure along with the litres/100km figure once they reach the end of their tank. It's really hard to quantify what type of traffic each person is experiencing, however the average km/h figure if it was not reset throughout...

    catch can

Yeah I have often wondered about this and whether it's worth doing. I believe the catch can catches the oil from the engine breather before it is dumped back into your intake. Less oil in your intake reduces detonation I have been told. Probably even more handy for a supercharged engine. If...

    LED Tail Lights...

I don't get that theory. If the globe was in parallel to the fuse, then a short circuit would effectively blow the fuse and then the globe (across the fuse) would light up and just sit there glowing as it would have no more than 12 volts across it and flatten the battery for you. Since the...

    Lowering

Just thinking about it some more though you might want to be careful using Lovell Ultra Low on the VY with 16" rims. I reckon if I had 16" rims (therefore the chassis would be another inch lower to the ground) I would be almost resting on the ground.
