    FIR35 - the v6 superute

umm it was a stage 2 or 3 crowcam, cant remember but there is **** all difference, we just installed it by itself without the chip that you get if you go with the package deal. At the moment its only in the 170's rwhp range, but keep in mind exhaust is still stock (yeah i know its on the to do...

    FIR35 - the v6 superute

when i bought it i was 19, and only 20 now. i cant afford to keep a V8 really so thats why i didnt get one, but this little 6 will beat a 5L so its good enough for me now. as for the front conversion, because vu to vz have the same chassis design all you gotta do is unbolt the old one, put on...

    FIR35 - the v6 superute

i bought with the basic front conversion already done, but as far as i know all the pannels are just bolt on. i've just put on the supercar bar myself, chrome bonnet trim, the 19" wheels, lowered it, painted the grill and the flame designs, also fitted an infill panel at the rear to centre the...

    Removing the door trim

tweeter section has 1 or 2 screws on the ends near the doors, might need to unclip a panel or 2 to get to them, cant remember from memory. and the rest is just clipped i i think so pull it up on the same angle as the windscreen

    fuel filter vy2 wagon

from memory they are around between the diff and right rear wheel, in that general area. and they can be annoying to remove if ya dont have the little clip tool, but still possible without it. just be careful and dont get a stream of fuel in the eye

    Holden Warranty Sucks

that dealer is crap then, the one i used to work at, because those clamps were such a common problem we would replace the 's' bend hoses and better clamps under warranty. i agree with your argument, a clamp should stay tight, thats its job. if it doesnt then its faulty. btw those clamps...

    FIR35 - the v6 superute

well a friend gave it the superute name and i just think its funny wasnt sure if to put it in here or the VY section? it is originally a VU, but has the VY front conversion (yeah it sure is a vu, check out the side mirrors lol) engine is cammed with a crowcam, with stronger valve springs to...

    I got the wobbles ......again

generally if the steering wheel shakes, the front rotors have excessive runout, if the gear selector wobbles a bit, its the rears to. i think the acceptable runout measurements are something like .04mm, so if you have access to a dial guage check it out

    Reco steering rack

wtf, $700 for a reco rack is crazy, i got one through holden service centre (so whoever they used down the road to supply an exchange rack) for $200, fitted it myself and its as good as new. even the autopro shop down the road quoted me $230 for an exchange reco rack

    Noisy motor pully's

well they are a sealed bearing so water shouldnt do anything to them and i believe rotors warp.... "Shudder is caused by friction pad material transferred unevenly to the surface of the rotor" .....what makes it transfer unevenly in the first place, because they are warped perhaps? even if...

    Removing interior door trim

what ya gotta do mate, is remove the red tab from the door lock, just pry it out with a pick or small sharp screwdriver. once it pops out, lift out the lock and there is a screw behind it. also remove the interior side mirror cover, they just clip on so pull it off by hand. there is also...

How much tread would be on these tyres?

if ya look around in the tread of tyres you'll see a raised bit every now and then, these are the wear markers. apparently if you are down to them you need new tyres, even though it looks as though the tread is still 1 or 2mm deep

Brakes pulsing - warranty or not ?

Warranty for brake components ends at 60,000 so unfortunately your just out of luck. Actually its 60,000 or first set of pads, which you are over the kms and passed the first set of pads

VX Wheel nut TIGHT AS FUG

i've found you can get more force by using a long breaker bar than using a rattle gun, every now and then my rattle gun wouldnt get a wheel nut off so about a metre long breaker bar and socket is much more efficient

    Timing gears

you mean like aftermarket ones? i have adjustable timing gears from Rollmaster, so look up their website and have a look around

    VU (vy front conversion)

ohh yeah forgot to add before, been dyno'd at 171rwhp, still has stock factory exhaust though, so its not bad for a 6

removing a seat in VT (airbags)

just unplug it, do your stuff then plug it back up. i think airbags work on a capacitor anyways so it doesnt even matter if the battery disconnected, not really too sure how capacitors work, so maybe after an hour they lose their power? But we've never done it that way in the holden dealership

probs with my new vy berlina

for the steering shudder when turning, could just be low on fluid. top it up and check that the 'S' bend cooler hoses arent leaking, about 75% of them do after a while because they arent tightened properly from factory. the hoses are low down infront of the engine on drivers side, kinda behind...

    What a nice suprise

im guessing he looked at the metal tag around the filler hole, normal ones dont have it, some say high performace (i think mine does but dunno whats so high performace about it, anyone?) and some say LSD

Central locking - beware of doors that don't always open.

yeah..... i used to replace about 1 of these a week, very very common fault. and ya can sorta get the door trim half off to be able to open the door if its locked shut, bugger of a thing to do though
  28. adam_vr

    Brake Pads

yeah i used to work at a large holden dealership, and fairly regularly id see vy and vz with 60,000kms and pads will still be good to last till next service, so i dont know whats so special about VE pads lasting 60,000kms when normally driven commodores are doing it already. Id say on average...

    'Soft drink can' rolling noise...???

do you still have the stock exhaust with the heatshields on it? alot of times i found exhaust rattles to come back to these, either they had been knocked and bent or have a few stones in them. also the material inside them breaks off. its as simple as removing a couple nuts and bolts, brushing...

    Ignition Drum

you mean when you put your key in it doesnt want to turn at all? if thats the case then give the end (where the key goes in) a bit of a tap with a small hammer, then try again. If still no go then remove the trims around it and give the ignition barrel a few more taps around it, lol then...

    VU (vy front conversion)

ive heard vz headlights have a bit of a different angle on one of the edges not sure how true that is though, but vy clubby lights look like the vz ones anyways. but then again id have a little hole underneath my lights if i do that, so it might be something to do when i wanna change my front bar.
  33. adam_vr

    VU (vy front conversion)

yeah i definately wanna change the taillights sometime soon, they are getting a bit faded, and ive been thinking about those infill panels, not sure if i wanna go with that or go a whole maloo style rear. and bagging it, i can only dream haha
  34. adam_vr

    VU (vy front conversion)

i dunno actually, haha i bought it like that, all i did was the engine mods, wheels and the other little bits. id say at least a few grand though, but might get a little back once you sell all the old stuff
  35. adam_vr

    You wont beleive this!

yeah a car came into my old work with a snake in the engine bay, customer didnt even know, we called some snake guy to come get it out.
  36. adam_vr

    VU (vy front conversion)

website claims 28% power increase with supporting mods like exhaust and intake, i havent had mine tuned yet and i still need to get a full exhaust system but it feels about what they claim. heres some flames ive been working on today, not sure if i like them yet, think i need to add something...
