Hi Lowe. The 3-pin distributor is from VR and early VS 304’s. There is no crank sensor as such. The timing is generated from the distributor driven by the gear on the camshaft. ( I believe late VS and early VT with the 304 had a 4-pin distributor which had two sensors inside).

The RED goes to the IGN switch and the BROWN to the ignition module. The ign module controls the spark via timing derived from the hall effect sensor in the distrib.

Prefilling the filter on a 5L has its problems but that is what I do. For a start the filter screws on sideways so you end up with a lot of the contents running down your arm and also on to the gnd. So I half fill it and try to get it screwed into place ASAP.

There is a small 10V regulator module that plugs into the rear of the cluster that may be your problem. Check all the solder joints on that PCB.

If injector doesn’t get 12v or any pulse from the ECU, then its ECU or wiring. You will have to trace it by back to ECU or 12v source that supplies each of the injectors.

Hi , something to note - there is a splice inside the loom tube for the battery positive cable. A thickish wire splits off and goes to the main fuses in the engine bay. So would need thick red battery to alternator and another not so thick from battery to main fuse box. This is how I did...

To troubleshoot swap the battery globe on the dash with any of the other dash bulbs ! Then see if it charges. The battery light SHOULD come on at the reds and go off when engine running.

Replace the dash battery globe. The globe is a necessary part of the charging circuit . Cheers.
